Hi,
We hadn't been to vero beach since last summer, so a couple of things seemed new to us. One big one was beach towels, I don't remember those. Now they give you a beach towel for everyone, and at eb and flo's rental you can trade them for a clean one. They don't give out pool towels anymore.

Also the room color seemed new and updated, and tv was new and flat.

There was also like SIX feet of new sand down on the beach! Where you used to go down the ramp and come back around the other side, there wasn't another side anymore!

Other things didn't seem any different

We had never been there on Pirate Day before. Not sure if that is new or just new to us.

And the campfire is still my son's favorite part

Well that and the pool

And the mini golf

And the kite flying

And, of course, the luggage cart

I keep wanting to try vero and maybe some day.......just hard for us to go to Florida from Wisconsin and not stay at WDW. Especailly with those darn AP's hanging around!

one time when you are going to wdw ad an extra night and drive over to vero. After that, you'll always find a way to keep those ap's in your pocket (and get them sandy and wet) a couple of days a year, I promise.

When is Pirate Day? There was a "treasure hunt" one afternoon when we were there two years ago with CM's as pirates, but no characters.

Mondays.
There were some activities earlier in the day, but Shutters had the character meal with Goofy and Donald. The characters were AWESOME. Great interaction. The food was ayce barbecue (briskit, sauced pulled pork, ribs, chicken; cole slaw, corn on the cob, potatoes, baked beans; rolls and cornbread; cupcakes for desert. Not great bbq, but mostly harmless). It was served "family style." There was no regular menu. Every seat was set with a little pirate doo-rag and eye patch, and there were decorations around and the serves were dressed for the occasion as well. Again, I can't stress enough the character interaction was GREAT.

Melissa just told me that the room colors were the same last year. I said I thought it was more pink, but she said that's been a few years. I like it now.

If they want to go you can call disney dinings to get reservations for that Monday at shutters. I know reservations at vero beach seems kind of crazy, but it was full. We made a reservation when we checked in, which worked fine.

I did call, and so far we have 7 planing to go...waiting to hear from the other 4.

We're seeing DF's on this trip whom we haven't seen in 2+ years...Not everyone loves WDW the way we do, but VB is just a perfect resort for these DF's they are beach/ocean lovers to their core.

The Pirate Dinner was $26.99 for adults - $12.99 for 3-9 (I think). They take DVC discount of course BUT if you have a Tables in Wonderland card - Shutters honors that too. Can't combine the discounts obviously, but it was a nice extra 10% using TIW.

We just left Vero about a week and a half ago. It was our first trip, and definitely will not be the last!! We loved it!! The cast members were wonderful. DD (8) loved all of the activities and the wonderful pool and slide.

We spent the first half of the week at WDW and actually wished we would have spent the entire week at Vero. DH and I were ready for some downtime during this vaca and we found it at Vero!
