Disneyland of course, unless you go via Asia but when you are planning a big 40th birthday bash with your two best friends, husbands and kids Asia wasn't really going to cut it.
Hi I am Kirsten, a Kiwi living in the UK. In 2002 I decided I might move to the UK for 2 years so I could travel and see Europe. So I picked up my working holiday visa, packed up my life and set off for London, 12 years later, 1 husband and 3 kids I am still in the UK.
I have managed to travel and see a bit of Europe but really not as much as I should have done really.
Hubby, myself and the kids try to get back to New Zealand one every 2 - 3 year but life has got in the way recently and it has been a while since we went home.
So a while back while skyping with my two best friends we started joking about meeting up for our 40th birthdays then we decided that sounded like a good idea so we looked at the map and found the half way point, joked around some more and then decided that meeting up would be a great way to celebrate our 40th birthdays (shhhh I actually celebrated mine last year but will be 40 until the day we get back to the UK)
Here is a picture of my little family and a couple of Monsters (not part of my family) taken last year on a trip to Disneyworld.
So as I am writing this we can be know as family 1. Doug and I will be married 10 years this March so another reason to celebrate. Apparently the 10 year anniversary present is tin so flying to America in a giant tin can should cover the gift this year don't you think?. We have three children see picture above Cullen, Seth and Ariana. Good kids generally, cute but I might be a bit bias on that one. Ariana has a missing link, well it really is a piece of chromosome that disappeared some where in the making, Dr said it was part of evolution quite frankly is one is evolving I like to think it would be something useful like gills or something. What it means is she has learning difficulties, speech that is hard to understand and the want to put just about everything in her mouth oh and she loves getting into stuff
Flour, nappy cream and felt pen.
So as you can see she is lucky she is cute.
So our trip starts on 28th of March when we fly out from London Heathrow, which is about 1.5 hours from our house. We have a lunch time flight to LAX so we will head away early Saturday. We have hired a house this one in fact: http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p3538240
The other two families are smart families of 4 (anyone tried to get hotel accommodation for 5 recently )
Family 2 is made up of Bron, Paddy, Ryan 11 and Jack 9. Bron and I have been friends since school. Paddy and I worked together it was actually me who introduced them and I was obviously the most important person at their wedding . Doug and I are Godparents to Ryan and Jack, well absent ones, luckily they have 2 more closer to them and those ones actually go to church but we are much cooler than them......
Family 3 is made up of Jac, Scott, Maia 10 but turns 11 on our trip and Madelyn 7. Jac and I met through Bron they were in the same hall of residence at University, and both went to teachers collage together. Scott and Jac met when we were celebrating my birthday so I will take that as another score for me. They aren't married so I am yet to be the most important person at their wedding. But we are going to Vegas so maybe we can talk them in it.
So that is the introductions next up the plan of attack.
