why do you return to disney?

As an introvert, I spend a lot of time solo. Disney World is one of the few places that even though I'm there by myself, I don't feel alone. It feels good.

It started because like so many others, it is one place where I can eat something different every day and still have it be gluten free.

Now, it is the place where I can be free from worry. I can be a kid again.

We are going back for our 5th trip in 12 years next month for two reasons. The 1st is my daughter (now 17), she loves everything Disney and makes her happy makes me happy. And the 2nd reason is I am an IT Specialist and a workaholic before Disney I used to give back 120-160 hours of vacation each year. I find that I can relax at Disney and have fun. I refuse to wear a phone there. I don't even wear my fitbit.

I keep going back because Disney includes everyone and most CMs go out of their way to do so. I always loved the way the treat special needs children and now I have a special needs child.

My most favorite memories oddly do not even involve my loved ones. For example, we were at the Beauty and the Beast stage show, an older special needs women was waving like mad to try to get Belle and Beast to say hi back. Obviously they couldn't, but after the show a CM asked her if she wanted to go backstage and meet the characters. I was happy for her.

I also remember seeing two little girls looking sad, they were dressed like a princess ( but not a Disney character). I walked by and made a huge fuss over meeting two princesses and they skipped away happy.

Disney is just unlike any other place.

Disney is the only place I have found that a large family isn't frowned upon. I have 5 kids and everywhere we go people look like we are crazy. Disney makes us feel welcome. It's fun and relaxing. Wish I lived there.

It’s magical and allows me to escape the stresses of life, work, and paying bills. We go every year and our friends think we are looney, but for DH and myself it is the perfect vacation. It is truly a happy place with great food, entertainment, and the only vacation where we can escape the stresses of the world, television and cell phones.

:tinker:Two weeks and we are there!!

It's my happy place, I smile as soon as I get on property. It's some place an slightly older than middle aged woman can go solo and not worry, where I can act like a child and just relax.

Twins with autism, we go about every other year, they are getting ready to make their third trip at 7 1/2. The twins are not very verbal, eat like 6 foods and need transport medical strollers for safety and at Disney we can still have a mostly magical vacation. Disney staff is amazing with my kids, the mostly goes to idiot busybody guests commenting on my girls. But that can happen anywhere and it happens at Disney less than most places.

We all just enjoy Disney (which I'm actually pretty shocked about). The first year we went was for our twins' 2nd bday and I thought we'd go, have fun, and not go back until they were older. My husband and I both really enjoyed it, the kids had a blast, so it's pretty much been our go-to vacation spot since. It's great because we go with my parents-in-law and sister-in-law and we can do stuff together or all do our own thing, have our own rooms, etc.

For me I've enjoyed Disney from when I was a child (movies, Uncle Scrooge comics, etc.) That came from my father who was big into Disney things in the 50s and 60s. I was blessed to go several times with my parents in the 70s and 80s (and each time I went back there was a new park it seemed!), so I keep going back to make new memories with MY children.

When I go there .. it is just our happy place .. crowded? hot? Who cares . .just fun to be there whether we ride things or not. Just so many experiences packed in one place.

It's personally my escape from reality, and I have such good memories there. And it's funny because every year I say I'm taking a break, yet every year I return. My boys are also now addicted, so when I ask where they want to vacation, and they say Disney, it's of course hard to say no!!
