DS18 just started working at
Amazon and is now in possession of a letter that states he is an essential worker. So he just jetted up our state’s category list from group 4 to group 1b. As Colorado is still administering to group 1a, he doesn’t know if vaccines will be available on site at the warehouse or not. He’s assuming because he was given the letter that he’s on his own to go wait in line somewhere once group 1b is opened up. I’m glad for him, as he is now our household’s biggest exposure risk. DH is group 2 due to diabetes, I am group 4 due to just being regular, and DS14 is too young according to the guidance. My parents have already gotten their first dose and are scheduled for their second later this month. They are in a continuing care place in Texas and a paper appeared under their door soon after the new year giving them their date and time to get the shot. Their facility contracted with Walgreen’s and they just had to walk across campus to their appointment. Couldn’t have been easier. I joked with them that their privilege is showing, after seeing the seniors waiting in lines overnight in Florida.
I’m glad to hear of our frontline workers that are receiving the vaccine first. It’s going to take a while, but things are definitely looking up for 2021 as the rollout continues.
