So while we're on the subject of braces (did I start this last night somehow?), Joe had his uppers put on today. I was in the bleeping orthodontist office for over two hours! First they had to remove the herbst device then put on the top ones. We have to go back on March 26 for the lowers to be done. He only has to wear them for six months so I'm hopeful that everything will go okay, as its similar to the routine with the herbst, only brushing more often, etc. So in the interest of assisting him as much as possible, I got that stuff that shows where the placque is to help him out and we have a picture of what his teeth could look like after they come off if he doesn't do what he needs to.

Then we went grocery shopping and now have food in the house again.:cool1:

Finally, we came home, got DH and went to lunch and out shopping. Joe needed new sneaks and with the sales today I figured it was a good thing, until they measured his foot! He's a 7.5! He's 12 years old! I had to buy ADULT sneakers for him today!

So now DH is cooking pancakes for the two of us, Joe is having his soup and I'm finally all ketchuped from last night!

Lorri, I had clown feet at 12, I was in a size 9.5 and still am to this day....I was always tripping over something until the rest of my body decided to join my feet.....:rotfl2:

Gotta Luv Wally World. They are finally building a Super Wally here, way up north. Still no Sonics though

Mark

How funny....we were just discussing Sonic last night...

They have been playing commercials here for a long time, but no Sonic around. My ds would see these slushie drinks on tv and ask if we could go there. Well, my dh happened to notice while driving around town recently they built one on the opposite side of the city. Hopefully we'll get one near us soon. Some friends of ours from CA said that once they build one in town, they start popping up all over.

You know, the struggles that many of you have faced in starting your families has shed some light on why Disney and DCL has so much importance in your lives. DCL can be a financial sacrifice alone for many, but we all cherish those special moments with our children to make it all worth it. I can't help but think there's even a greater reward for those of you that had to endure other sacrifices for your families. :goodvibes

The funny thing for me, I don't recall any of the bands from our first two cruises. I assume that means, to me, they were unremarkable. NTWINE was remarkable, in a bad way. The best my wife could say was 'well, they are enthusiastic'.

If we hadn't been in RbD waiting for the caberet show, we probably wouldn't have listened to their whole set.

We had the band "Sea Breeze". Only know that because I heard their name 100+ times while editing our DCL video. They seemed good to me. I studied video production at OU. I don't use it in my career anymore, but I can make some good family vacation videos. My dad gives me a hard time regarding spending $20,000+ on an education to make vacation videos . But its worth it when my girls play the DVD over and over, plus I like to think about them in 85 years sharing their vacation DVDs with their great-grand children.

Joel....Hope your dw survives the day with the kids and gets her school work done....I can't imagine how hard that must be to juggle both!

Thanks to all. She's full-time professor, but works nights and Saturdays so that she's home during the weekdays for our girls while I'm working, plus she's doing the PhD thing. Really one of those things that all the snow days throw a monkey wrench in the operation. Gee...no stress in this household.:lmao:

Sorry to hear about all these ice mishaps. It is such a tragedy when one so young dies so suddenly. I don't know if you heard about the recent accident near me in Guelph, Ontario. A boy (10 years old) was killed when he was hit in the head with a stray puck while playing hockey on a outdoor neighbourhood rink. Just goes to show that helmets should be worn at all times, not just during official games and practices. The tragedy could have easily been prevented.:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

The NHL started requiring nets behind the goals when a girl was killed by a puck while attending a Blue Jackets hockey game. Very tragic. Things can happen so fast, last weekend, a boy on my nephew's hockey team nearly drowned when the hockey team was at a hotel for tournaments. He was not breathing when they pulled him out. Fortunately, one of the mothers was a nurse and able to resusitate him, but we haven't heard if he's going to fully recover. My parents were there when it happened and it was the most shaken up I've ever seen them.

Wow...a lot of serious talk. Any chance Lisa will let us go back to Sword jokes to lighten up again.:rolleyes1

Ummm......Obviously your children get their good looks from your Hus......Be nice Mark......... From both of you !!!!! Owed ya that one !!!! :goodvibes

Seriously...........Gonna be an awfuly good lookin set of characters on this cruise............ Even with the Capt'n's extra set of arms......... or was that his Wife's extra set ???? Maybe DCL will make us into a commercial !!!

Mark

I love it!
Here's the challenge: Select the random clip art famliy that best represents your own.
It's sorta like leaving the manufacturer-produced picture in a new picture frame.

Yes, once you begin, you must continue until you've hit everyone and gotten their names right. Didn't you read the Romper Room posts, Miss Lisa?

OK...I will have to get the manifest from last cruise out so that I can continue. ;) :lmao:

Exactly how bad do you have to be to be WORSE than NTWINE? Just trying to determine where we've set the bar for band quality.

Well....I would say that if you lost your voice you would be worse than Ntwine...but thinking about that a little bit...that may actually make you sound BETTER than Ntwine. ;)

Goodmorning everyone. Had to work the last 2 days so I'm quite behind. Hope every one is healthy and warm. Need to catch up, will be around somewhat today.

Me and FIN just got back from the gym. We can't let Todd be the only guy in ship shape. Will post rugby update shortly. :)

Wait! I think I got it wrong. I thought we were supposed to be eating even more to get fatter for the bathing suit parade around Palo during the Wenches' Tea Party. Don't tell me I've been doing it wrong!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I wasn't aware there were more words then "Celebration -- we're going to have a good time tonight, so celebrate...".

How can you mess that up?

You can mess it up if you screech the words & keep hitting flat notes to something as simple as that song. ;)

I refuse to run the risk that SWMBO might decide to add some new vows she didn't think of last time, so no.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well drat! You might just give the other swabbies the same idea! :lmao: :lmao: Wenches, we will have to regroup to come up with another way to get this done. ;) :rotfl2:

Never mind a commercial - we should be the next DCL vacation planning DVD!

I can see it now...........

Welcome aboard the Happiest Ships Afloat. Please don't mind the 500 or so crazed DIS DCL Maniacs........... And the Lime Green and Pink..........It looks tropical...........besides..........Who wants to see Pirates and Wenches IN BLACK !!!!!

Am I too late to post about kids with medical issues?

But I have happy endings...

DS #1 was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkins in 2001. He was in 8th grade at the time. He spent most of the year enduring chemo and radiation treatments. Just this weekend, we watched him swim in the finals as a freshman in the D3 Metropolitans at Rutgers! We are keeping him out of the CC rugby game as he had an unfortunate rugby accident as a junior that required ACL grafting surgery last year

DS #2 was having issues with his knees in the beginning of 8th grade. Ended up needing surgery and was diagnosed with arthritis. Took almost two years, but we were finally able to get his medicine adjusted and he is now swimming on the HS team and made varsity this year. He also has a hole in his heart, but it is a very small one and just needs minor monitoring.

DS #3 is halfway through 8th grade and has had no medical issues yet! We are just watching him as he is very large for his age (6' 3") and will eventually need to have his heart monitored.

It breaks my heart every time I read about kids who have medical issues since I have had the opportunity to spend so much time around really ill children. My boys were very lucky; they were able to go back to their regular lives, but there are so many who can't.

We are all very lucky even when we are being driven nuts!
