Well, I just caught up, and now in a few minutes I have to take over the girls for seperate Girl Scout meetings... that figures! I'm eternally behind now... and I'm sure I'm not the only one! I think the only people not behind, are those that are not really reading all the posts to catch up! It can be the only way they aren't behind. Either that or they spend every waking moment on this thread.
:confused3 :rotfl:

I gave up trying to catch up last Friday. There were 70+ pages to read when I got in from work. No way am I going to go back and read all of those post.:sad2:

Since topics are repeated, I figure I'll catch them the 5th time around.:rotfl2:

Sounds like the ice is treacherous in your neck of the woods...

I don't know why I felt the need to share this, but it helps with my healing even after all these years.

Andy. :grouphug: Thank you for sharing such a beautiful love story. Reading all of these makes me realize even more just how lucky DH & I have been. Some of our friends have also had infertility issues so I felt a little awkward about being able to get pregnant so easily. All children are blessings...though some are more special than others. :grouphug:

Hellloooooo Everyone!!

Happy President's Day!! Hope it was a great one!

Today is DS BDay so I definately won't be able to ketchup, but did want to say HI! After the great Birthday festivities I'll check in again! I can't wait to give DS the following:

14 punches and
1 for good luck
A pinch to grow an inch
A kick not to get sick
A poke not to smoke

And then a trip under the windmill...........YIPPEE

Please be sure to wish him a happy birthday from the Enna family! :cheer2:

OH MY!!!! It is scarey how much we & our kids have in common! :scared: ;)
I know!

speed reading....remember? ;)

I can speed read. still impossible to keep up with all the posts, even reading at a high rate of speed, unless you spend a lot of time on here. I'm on the verge of getting too far behind at times... but I don't want to miss anything good! :rotfl:

Okay really gotta go now!

Well, despite patiently waiting, the housecleaning fairy still hasn't show up at my house, so I guess I'll go do something quasi-productive for a while.

sorry, I've been holding her captive for a few years. Unfortunately, I think I broke her, or she has excaped.

Am I too late to post about kids with medical issues?

But I have happy endings...

DS #1 was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkins in 2001. He was in 8th grade at the time. He spent most of the year enduring chemo and radiation treatments. Just this weekend, we watched him swim in the finals as a freshman in the D3 Metropolitans at Rutgers! We are keeping him out of the CC rugby game as he had an unfortunate rugby accident as a junior that required ACL grafting surgery last year

DS #2 was having issues with his knees in the beginning of 8th grade. Ended up needing surgery and was diagnosed with arthritis. Took almost two years, but we were finally able to get his medicine adjusted and he is now swimming on the HS team and made varsity this year. He also has a hole in his heart, but it is a very small one and just needs minor monitoring.

DS #3 is halfway through 8th grade and has had no medical issues yet! We are just watching him as he is very large for his age (6' 3") and will eventually need to have his heart monitored.

It breaks my heart every time I read about kids who have medical issues since I have had the opportunity to spend so much time around really ill children. My boys were very lucky; they were able to go back to their regular lives, but there are so many who can't.

We are all very lucky even when we are being driven nuts!

Thank you, it's never to late to share, especially when there are blessings involved!!! :goodvibes

6' 3" in 8th grade, WOW!!!

Back from the Ortho Specialist with DD's hip.........Looks like more MRI's.........this time with dye to read bone and cartilage definition........:sad2:

Poor thing just wants to be better...........more tests............more waiting :confused3

Mark

:grouphug: to your DD, Mark. I hope that they find the source of her pain soon.

DH was able to replace my power jack. The part was about $14, but the replacement job requires taking the computer apart & doing a little soldering. If you have an independant computer repair place near you, they should be able to do the job for you.

I'm leery of the big-chain computer service places. Best Buy's repair place always seemed to manage to skim the most expensive parts off of my laptop, replace it with cheaper stuff and claim it was the way I sent it to them. :scared1:

I have the same kind of job needing attention on one of our notebooks. I have the part which was acquired on eBay for next to nothing. I even took my notebook apart - all the way down to it's basic components to get at the power supplu port - only to find it was sort of sealed with a heat sink that was encasing it. We reached that point and thought we were not going to handle that part of the job.

SO I asked at Best buy what they charged to do it - and they wanted $200. I sort of thought - I can buy a more powerful replacement for maybe $400-600. And I paused to examine and investigate further with other repair places. I have yet to get another quotation though.

If you were able to fix it yourself - then that's great! Me - I'm not techno-agile enough to flip all the way through it.

:confused3

Nice job - care to do mine?

I'm glad that you feel like her case is in competent hands now. That is more than half the battle. Really, it is! Still, I have a feeling that you might need to be the one filling the doctor in on what your daughter ISN'T saying, like times when you know she's having pain, or things that make the pain worse. Sometimes with joint problems, the person having the pain & difficulty gets used to it to the point that it seems ok. If she's grouchy and/or depressed, it could be in large part due to her trying to manage the pain while also trying to live her life.

I'll be keeping her and the medical staff who care for her in my thoughts & prayers!

When I was 4 I was diagnosed with 3 different forms of arthritis - juvenile rhemetoid, osteo and the third I don't remember - and my parents were told that my activity level was to be restricted. I eventually got used to the chronic pain and resumed my life. When I was 15 the diagnosis was reconfirmed by an arthritis specialist and the restrictions imposed included not walking more than 8 blocks/day, no gym class and no high impact sports of any kind. Up to that point I had played volleyball and softball, which immediately went out the window. Throughout all this, I had gotten to a point where because I was in constant pain I got used to it and lived with it. Apparently this has caused me to have a high pain threshold for somethings but a low one for others. Even today, I have to really listen to my body when it comes to joint pain - I tend to take it seriously when I "feel" the pain in my knees or hips as I'm used to those areas having chronic pain.

As Enna says, watch your DD - she might think it's okay to do something because she doesn't feel the pain but she could be doing damage just because she has gotten used to not being pain free.

Lots of prayers and pixie dust that things work out in the end for her - and you!:grouphug:

Thank you Lorri and Enna, for your words of wisdom from someone who has been there. I will definitely be keeping a close eye on her. We covet your prayers.

Now... I can't let my wife see your pictures!!!

I've skipped like 100 pages, so maybe someone has come up with this already, but I think CJS arrives in Singapore (or wherever) to discover that someone has been running around Asia as CJS for the last howevermany years.

He won't know who's friend and who's foe.
Mistaken identity and hilarity ensues.

That sounds like a great idea. :thumbsup2 :lmao:
