Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

How much responsibility?
Acording to Disney, they are supposed to find the luggage. That's what I was told when I asked at the checkin desk one time. When they asked me how many bags I had checked, I told them 4. Then, asked them what would happen if only 3 bags showed up. The CM told me that that wa why they asked us how many bags they should expect...so if one, or more, didn't show up they could find the missing bag(s). How they do it? I have no idea. That's just what they told me.

Yeah, okay. I think folks -- especially folks who are asking the question that Indy's Girl asked -- are well-advised to get a definitive answer about how much responsibility Disney has promised to take. I don't have my DME documentation with me right now, but my suspicion is that they promise to take much less responsibility than some might infer from what you've said. ;) My comments are intended to ensure no one gets a false sense of security, and later ends up disappointed with the service they got, because they misunderstood what Disney was actually promising, because of something we said here. :goodvibes

We are flying with JetBlue, Are they a participating airline?

And the reason I ask this question here is b/c I wanted to claim my suitcases when we arrive but I would like to do the airline check-in at the Pop Century when we get ready to leave. We are using DME for both arrival and departure.

Yes, they are a participating airline. If you want to grab your own bags, then do not put the yellow tags on them. However, based on another thread here on the T. Board, you may get some dirty looks from your fellow passengers on the bus since it takes time to unload people's luggage, rather than allow DME to transport it.:)

Hey, I just noticed you'll be there the exact same time we will!!! Hope your trip is a terrific one, and we have great weather.

Thank you for the reply!! The reason I want to grab my own luggage is because I will need the sunblock. Dh, both DDs' and myself are fair skinned and BURN really easy. I will slather the girls up good before we leave for the airport but after arriving we will need it again and I will need access to it since I cannot take it on the plane.

I would rather get dirty looks from strangers than I would having sun-baked kids. :headache: :lmao:

I will have my lime green baggallini, maybe we will run across each other, if not have a magical land and sea adventure!!

I have a red-haired, blue eyed dd....I feel your pain!!! Completely understandable. Have a terrific time. Be sure to wear hats, with wide brims and keep those shoulders covered at all times!!

I'm already a step ahead of ya'! I bought the "bucket" hats at LL Bean and sunglasses for the girls and put them with the 'other' Disney goodies. I figure if I buy a little here and there, then I won't have a mad rush the week we go!!

Can I use DME only when departing Disney? We are headed to Florida for 2 weeks but we aren't headed straight for Disney, we are staying off site for a week doing non-disney stuff. Then we are headed to the CR for th second week so we'll be renting a car for the first week and drive to Disney and return the car at the car care senter. When we leave to go to the Airport at the end of our stay, can we use DME??

Absolutely. Just drop by your resort front desk a couple days before your check out and tell them you want to us DME for your return to the airport. You will give them your flight # and departure time and then, the day before you check out your vouchers and pickup time will be placed on your resort door.

If you are flying on a participating airline (list will be on your voucher), you can drop by the RAC desk between 5am and 1pm on your checkout day and check your baggage and get your boarding passes. If you are not on a participating airline, store your baggage with luggage services and pick it up before departure. Have your luggage loaded on your bus and check in at the airport.

If you sign up for dme and decide to get your own luggage is the bus ride still free?

Absolutely. You are more than welcome to get your own luggage. When your DME package arrives in the mail, just DO NOT use the yellow tags. Drop by baggage claim and claim your luggage THEN proceed to the DME Welcome Center. You will want to tip your bus driver for handling your luggage and you will want to tip bell services at your resort for handling your luggage.

Sorry if this is a repeat but I don't see anything close enough to my situation to feel comfortable. My sister, mom & nieces are leaving for Disney from New Orleans, I'm coming from Dallas. She booked out trip / room/ package through a travel agent but I made my plane reservation on my own. All of my info (luggage tags included) is in her packet - she is mailing them to me. Since we have luggage tags I'm assuming that the travel agent made us DME reservations. Do I need to inform them that I am on a different airline & flight (american, if it matters)? Or if I use my luggage tags & check them in Dallas as usual will they get to my room no problem?

I am a 35 year old first timer - so glad to be sharing that experience with my first timer nieces ages 8 & 5 - we leave April 9th - I can't wait!

TIA
:cheer2:

First of all, :welcome: :disrocks:

You'll have no problem whatsoever. The tags are proof that you indeed have a DME reservation. The fact that you guys are coming from different places doesn't matter. As long as those tags are on your checked bags, they'll be delivered to your room.

It couldn't hurt to call DME directly (866-599-0951) with your individual flight information, but it's not necessary. They aren't saving a seat on a bus for you, they just need to know about how many people are going where at about what time, just so they can dispatch buses efficiently.

The only reason I'd 100% want to make sure they had my correct flight info was if I'm coming in on a very late night flight, just to make sure someone is waiting for me and knows I'm coming.

ENJOY YOUR TRIP!

Agreed, but a very late flight is one arriving after midnight. There are a lot of people who fly in after work, which means a lot of flights arrive between 10p and midnight.

We received our yellow tags for our arrival 4/29. The date on the yellow tags and DME Transportation Voucher is for 4/30 instead of 4/29. The arrival date and flight info in the booklet is correct for 4/29. Do I need to notify DME or do I just take care of this at the Welcome Center when we arrive?

I know this is prolly a never ending question but I dont really feel like reading through 12 pages to maybe find an answer but we paid for our trip in full about a week ago, when should we be expecting our luggage tags, our trip is May 12-19, should we expect them 2 weeks prior or if we dont recieve them by then we should call?

Expect your DME packet any day now. If you get about 3 weeks out and still don't have it, call 866-599-0951 and ask about it.

The tags get sent to your TA, assuming you booked through one. My local AAA office said the passengers name isn't on the envelope and they have to open all the DME packets and then manually match them against their reservations.

If you booked directly with Disney call the number Cleve posted, if you booked through a TA call them.

we booked directly through WDW so I'm assuming then everything should be sent to my house, I guess we will wait until maybe the middle of April and if nothing comes we still should have a good 2 weeks+ more if it doesnt come, thanks for the help!!

We got ours on Wednesday (April 4) and we leave on the 13th of May. :woohoo: Hopefully yours will show up soon! It sure makes the trip seem so much closer.
