Sallie,

DH and I just talked about it and we are thinking of taking Lilly with us! We downgraded to a Cat 12 and saved $3000. so we could afford to bring her. We checked and there is still room on our flights. Now we have to decide if we are going to leave this as our special anniversary trip or bring her with us and make it a family trip. DECISIONS!!!
Our son (15)has already said he doesn't want to go because he goes to PCC camp for 6 weeks and would rather do that than go with us.
We'll talk aobut it and decide later tonight.
S

Hi Sandra - sorry for butting in - had to put my 2 cents in. DH and I did the WB repo alone and it ws pretty hard. The worst part was that I definitely enjoyed my time away from DD - sometimes they can be pretty all time-consuming. When I got off, my mom told me that she really missed us (she's really attached to us) and that it was especially hard for her.

Then we got a chance to do the EB repo and she came with us. It was really the best 2 weeks (she missed the 2 weeks of school) even though she spent a lot of time with us. Looking back at the pictures of her - she wasn't all that bad really and so whichever way you decide to you - rest assured that is the right decision. Now that I think about it - maybe that's why she's throwing a 'tude cuz she can't go on this one! Yeah - that's it. :thumbsup2

you getting most of the pirates is very suspect.::cop: i was lurking this morning and you were very quiet until the posts were close to 2800. oops  i'm telling on myself. i was lurking so that i could sneak in and get the pirate.

I know that feeling someone did it to me, last night I'd gone to bed, of course i wasn't lurking I just got up for a glass of water(well it works if you're 10), and i just happened to notice a pirate was about to happen when who should jump in there but yeas you got it the pirate queen herself...

Hi Checking in. :rolleyes1

I only had to read 10 pages to catchup. What a chatty bunch:laughing:

Now I need to find that lanyard post and get you guys all updated.

I tried reading the posts last night and my computer was just dragging. I couldn't hardly get to the next page and this was at midnight!

I leave you all alone for a minute and the thread descends to the gutter... the very idea Flashing on the DIS whatever next.

I talked to formerCPer yesterday and we are ready to move forward with the lanyards. Except I think I need to check out the badge holders again and see what one size smaller will be like. The sample I got is about 1/2" too big but I tried holding it upside down and see if the card will fall out and it took alot of shaking for it to come out. The next smaller one is 1/2" smaller but hope its still big enough to get your fingers in it easily to remove the card without ripping the badge holder.

I'm really doing all the posting to catchup with you guys. So the next time you get on., you have ten pages to read.

The Magic will be in her first European port of call tomorrow how excitng is that!

I'm so excited! Thanks for all of your work Kyla! :cool1:

Lanyard Status 5/19:
Talked to formerCPer (Brian). He is getting the lanyard design E ready to go. So I'm ready to start accepting everyone's order and payment.:cool1: Please note that DCL did not grant us permission to use copyrighted materials, which is probably the Disney font, mickey icon and use of Disney Magic. However, they said its unlikely anything will be said to us about it if we make them up and wear them AND ARE NOT SELLING THEM. They are totally fine if we made them at home, its the use of an independent vendor that gets tricky. The big thing is that we are not selling these lanyards and are strictly for personal use.

5/17:Got the badge holder sample. Its bigger than I thought compared to the Key to the World card but you can easily open and stick your fingers in to get to the card. So I wonder if we should stick with that size or go smaller?

ORDER INFORMATION:
Since this is a two color lanyard, the cost will be $2.43 per lanyard
Each lanyard comes with a badge holder which is $0.20 each
So I need a total of $2.63 for each lanyard
Add $1 for each reel. I'm thinking of ordering the black reel to go with the black lanyard. Sound Ok with everyone?????
So the total for a lanyard with reel is $3.63.

Timeline: Would like to get the lanyard order in before June 15th latest. Which means I need everyone's payment prior. Anyone else who wants to order, please post and let me know. Payment info is below.

Payment: I can take paypal payments (basic account, not the premier account) at kylarice at worldnet.att.net. If you don't have paypal, I will take a check. For the UK people who don't have paypal, just pay when you pick up your lanyards, under the table please. Please pm me for my address to send the checks to. Please include your DIS forum name with any payment, so I know who you are.
Update: Ok, on the paypal payment, some of you are sending me are OK and some are using their premier account. I have a personal account (basic) and while it does allow me to accept payments from folks with premier accounts it charges me a fee to accept plus it limits the number of payments I can accept to a total of 5 for the year. So, if you are unsure, go ahead and try sending me a payment via paypal and if it kicks back as denied, then you know that you have a premier account and I just denied it. Then you will need to send me a check. Pm me and I will give you my address.

Lanyard Design Options (by formerCPer)

Design E is the Winner!

Cost for lanyard design E will be about $3.00
It comes with a badge holder: http://www.kennyproducts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KPI&Product_Code=372
To add a badge reel http://www.kennyproducts.com/Mercha...en=PROD&Store_Code=KPI&Product_Code=425-blank, will be another $1 per badge reel.
I was thinking of ordering once I get everyone's payment and bringing them to Barcelona or the DIS meetup to pass out.

Please note: I called the lanyard maker and DCL regarding the design of these lanyards and if there were any copyright or trademarked problems. Both told me they were OK with it since we are using them for personal use and not selling them (thats why I need your payment first before I put the order in). Although DCL said that the design is OK, they said there is a small chance that guest services may request that we not wear the lanyard (I guess if the Disney police are onboard). ETA: I have since emailed DCL a picture of the lanyard design to get another confirmation that the design is OK. ETA: DCL responded with a generic "we can't grant permission to use copyrighted materials" esp with an independent vendor due to agreements with other vendors. If you chose to create items with Disney designs at home - no problems as LONG AS THEY ARE NOT BEING SOLD. ETA: sent email to DCL asking for specifics: which items (images, font or words) are copyrighted that are on the lanyard. No word yet. ETA: called DCL to follow up on generic email. They said this is a gray area. They can't grant me permission to use copyright materials. However, they highly doubt that DCL will say anything if we went ahead and made up the lanyard AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT BEING SOLD AND ARE FOR PERSONAL USE.

I posted this on the previous page, but in case you haven't seen. Some people were confused on how things attach together. Hopefully, this will clear it up:

Here is the lanyard with the badge holder (except ours will be vertical)
113321424_front-thumb.jpg
Here is the lanyard with badge reel (except ours will come as two pieces: a lanyard with J hook (as shown in the above pic). Each badge reels has a belt clip in back. The J hook hooks on the belt clip of the badge reel. See the little tab on the badge reel? That will snap onto the top of the badge holder. The badge holder will hold your Key to the World card. The badge reel is not heavy duty. It is a light string and is made to hold the weight of your badge holder.

Ok, finally. Got the link fixed.
Be back with more payment info.

Ok, updated the lanyard post.:cool1:

We are ready to go!

Ok, just checking to see where I'm at.:rolleyes1

Anyone hear what kind of extra goodies people on the May 12th cruise is getting. I've been trying to keep up, but this thread is trying enough!

I saw Andrew posted about cell phone use. Where did you find that Andrew? I have Cingular, so I shouldn't have any problems when I call Cingular, the new AT&T, right?

I think its neat that wireless internet is available. My sister is bringing her laptop. Wonder if she'll let me use it. But I think I will be far too busy to use it.

Do we know how much it is if we use a laptop in the cabin? What if my kids use the internet computers from DCL - I remember the 7 night cruise was $80 something for unlimited. What is the price for the 11 N.?

I don't know if they can survive without it for two weeks. :confused3

I think for the Med they will have to be reasonable, usually you should be there prompt i see people turn up about 15 mins late. But with early there will be a cut-off as they have to get ready for LATE dinner.

They have said TOPSIDERS is OK, on all our trips they aim to get us back on time, otherwise they are on overtime.

I am confident at all bar Rome, its a long way and traffic into and out of a capital city could be an issue, the rest fine.

We thought about it and (for the first time) picked second dining. I'm a bit nervous about it having always been on early dining, but I figure it's always possible to go to topsiders for an appetizer, or grab a quick snack. I expect enough of our group will be coming in towards the end of shore time on some days that it's better not to be rushed for dinner.

Hopefully it won't turn out to be a mistake, but there's a first time for everything.
