DDA Chapter 4

Hope you feel better soon Beth :wizard:

Garrett has had a sore throat for 2 days now. He said it does not hurt to much, but you can hear that his voice is different. I hope it does not get any worse or that the rest of us get it.

Thanks, everyone, for the compliments on my design and for the good wishes for my leg. The leg is starting to feel better, but it still hurts. I think I'm coming down with something else, though. I'm running a low-grade fever (100.0) and just feel kind of yuck.

Elizabeth-have I told you Emma wants to ride The Great Movie Ride? Think she'll like it as much if she has to wait in line?

Does this sort of thing sound like something your DS could do?

Lizzy had a Girl Scout meeting yesterday after school. The girls were to bring (voluntary) items that they would send to soldiers and they were to write letters to them too. I bought a few things and show them all to her and explained it all to her. DH put the things in her backpack in the morning. One of the items was a chess set so it wasn't a tiny little bag. She had to take her folder out of backpack in the morning, her snack out, put her folder back in so she was in and out of it all day. When DH picked her up he asked about her giving them the stuff and she "forgot".:confused3 What was she doing while everyone else had their stuff out? DH found one of her leaders and gave it to them but how can function if she's so out of it???

Bernadette - 16 Candles is on right now. DS wants to watch it SOOO bad, but even edited there is way too much content for me to let him watch. DS actually reminds me a lot of Anthony Michael Hall in that movie, but I bet he would be horribly offended if I said that to him.:rolleyes1

Very nice Jennifer!

Really????

Oh I hope Emma enjoys this ride! I know I will be going on it as much as possible in May, this is my favorite :thumbsup2
I hadn't been on in a long time because the kids wouldn't do it but I really love it now! Lizzy and Joe loved it so I'm sure Emma will do!

:wizard: Hope it goes away soon!!!

Thanks for all the compliments on the photos. I fixed the one of Emma's cake.

If you let her pin trade and she picks the Magic Pin she won't have to wait in the line!:rotfl2:

That sounds totally like a DS thing. You would be amazed at what he can keep in his backpack.
In the morning I usually go over things with him, like he has a note for a teacher, or he has to remember to ask about an assignment that has a "0" or whatever. That usually helps him. He is also on medication specifically for that purpose. But he still forgets things, and then he gets flustered. He gets irritated when I remind him about things, but if I didn't remind him he wouldn't remember. DH was talking about him "outgrowing" the ADD, but I don't see that happening. He might learn to compensate for it later on in life, but it isn't going to go away.

Tammi the Dis time is about 45 minutes off for me as well.

All caught up & now I need to get some laundry in the wash, yea me!

That's a great present, Chanon. When is his bday?
March 25th. Small party (with ice cream cake) on the 29th. Everyone's invited!
Thank you. :goodvibes

I have discovered some pros/cons to working from home.

Con:
I keep getting drawn to the pantry for "just one more" Girl Scout cookie. (I didn't remember ordering 6 boxes! )

Pro:
Listening to Disney on the Travel Channel in the background. Animal Kingdom is on right now, DCL starts next, and then I think it's the WDW: Behind the Scenes. I love these shows!

Also heard on a podcast that there will be a new hour-long Disney/Samantha Brown show that will debut in early April. It's to be of her "favorites" and cover both WDW and Disneyland. :thumbsup2
Thank goodness!!! I only bought 5 - now I don't feel like I have too many boxes. ;)
Beth, I hope you're feeling better soon!

Here's a quick shot of a few of the letters, so you can see the type of patterns. There are 10 different ones, but I won't bore you with individual shots, since you can't really see them well in pictures anyway ;)

(And no, one of them is not "Elvis"... I realize it may appear that way with the letters that ended up in the frame :rotfl: )
You know - I read REALLY FAST to get to this post and I almost screamed "This is all we get?!?" I was about to remove the box of Thin Mints from the package I'm mailing you and Kyle...

I'll bring a few pins with me.:thumbsup2

I keep hearing these ads for a college that specializes in "executive disfunction" or something like that. Why can't I get Lizzy help for that now instead of when she's in college. It would seem to make since that the earlier you start these "skills" or "habits" the better it would be. They told us she wasn't ADD and I don't think she is but she's "lacking" something. They said she's just slow and there is nothing we can do about it. DH just keeps saying she's the artist-his aunt was an art teacher-I never met her but Lizzy does look a like her. I guess I should try to do some more research on this.

DS has what they said is a textbook case of moderate inattentive ADD. He is flighty. He can not see a task from start to finish without getting distracted. In the classroom the teacher said (in 3rd grade) that if someone would cough DS would put his pencil down, turn around to see who coughed, look around a little more, turn back around, pick up the pencil, stare at the paper to see where he was, maybe tap the pencil on the desk for awhile, you get the picture. He never finished his assignments on time.
At home he tends to not be medicated so he drives us batty. In the morning he gets up and goes into the closet. He stands there. He stands there for 15 or 20 minutes. The boy wears a UNIFORM, it isn't like he has vast choices to make!:headache: Getting him to eat, put socks and shoes on, brush his teeth and comb his hair takes another hour.

The teacher was the one who fist approached me about having him tested for ADD. The school district will test kids for free, but we went to our pediatrician. They have a diagnostician on staff and she did tests to confirm that he really is ADD. The teachers, the parents, and the pediatrician all have to fill out forms and then the diagnostician does some memory and attention tests and observes the child. She also did a test to rule out Asperger's because he has some quirks that can be associated with that. It took several tries but once we found a med that worked his teachers were amazed at how much better he was focusing and learning. He was paying attention, asking questions, and getting things done on time.

Like I said, he is flighty, and he still has forgetful moments but he is better than he was! And we have the 504 in place for him so if he needs modifications he can have them.

Jennifer- Love the names. I have a second cousin named Avery her aunt is name Elisea, not the same but similar.

I didn't put all my stock into that though.... my parents named me Jennifer for one reason --- it was so unique at the time! We see how that turned out! :rotfl:

This comment surprises me because my Aunt is 5 years older then me and named Jennifer, my cousin is named Jennifer and she was born 3 years before me. I did not have any Jennifer's in my elementary class but since it was 1 class for every grade the kids only changed if people moved in or out of the district. There were Jennifer's in the class above and below me.

Tammi-:wizard: :grouphug:  to you sorry ex dh is being a PITA

Grandma is doing alright. She has had a few little ones to take care of this week though as there sitter is on vacation. She has had to walk the oldest to and from school as she does not drive., The school is 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile from her house. So 1.5 miles one trip and two trips is 3 miles in not much. time as he is only at school half day. She is only 66 but has cardiomyopathy.

As for people having a rough time, please keep my co-worker Diana and her family in your prayers. I know I am going to miss something that has happened, but her husband recently had emergency heart surgery. Her brother in law and sister in law were in a horrible car crash. He died, she is still in the ICU and does not know her husband has died. Her son has been having medical issues and his wife is 28, she just had a stroke and has bleeding in the brain. All of this has been since the start of this year. I am impressed she is holding it together as well as she is.

I think I am headed to bed soon. I have already taken a nap since I got home, I am exhausted. I have to quickly whip an outline together for my end of term paper. I forgot it needs to be due by tomorrow. It is worth nothing but it is required and due tomorrow. Not quite sure how that works.:confused3 :confused3

I have that test tomorrow from noon to 3pm. I will do well, I will do well. Perhaps if I keep saying this it will come true. I wish instead I was going to the Pot of Gold Enhancement training, but I must take the test during those hours.

Have a great weekend.
