turn down the castle stay??

yes, but just because something is priceless to you and you feel its a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to take advantage of, doesnt mean everyone feels that way. i understand i am the minority, but to me unless it fit into my touring plan easily, i dont think i would do it.

Its not that I say it is priceless and a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is the fact that it is. No matter how much money you have, it is not something you can purchase, therefore that would make it priceless. Not to mention, any true Disney fan would want to stay in the place where Walt envisioned his own personal apartment!:cool1:

well listen to me its not this grand oppurtunity, i dont see why that such a big deal to you. great, youd like to stay, but i wouldnt. that certainly doesnt make me any less of a disney fan than you. that just seems like such an obnoxious claim to make.

I have told SIL who lives in Tampa and goes to the parks frequently to call me if she ever wins, because DD and I would be on the next plane to Orlando no matter the cost. It would totally be 100% worth it to me.

That was just a joke!!! I was not trying to offend you. I really don't care if someone turns down the castle. That just means there is more chances for the rest of us!:goodvibes To each their own.:)

We have three teenage sons (woops, one is 20 now), and they would LOVE to stay in the castle!! To the OP, it is perfectly okay for you to not want it, everyone has there own feelings toward it. I would love to stay there for a night!

We're coming down in early August camping at the Fort in a tent...if it involves air conditioning I'm all for it :lmao:

We actually have an a/c unit we hook up to the tent, just don't let them know...might take away the "pity" factor for our shot at the castle for a night

OMG! I would love to spend a night in the castle. I'm not really the princess type but how exciting it would be. Count me in!princess:

Me and DH in the castle?? talk about a romantic get away!! I wouldnt turn it down AT ALL!!!! I think that would be such a once in a lifetime oppurtunity!

Shoot, I would be happy to just WALK in it and give me 5 min to take some pics....that would make me happy!

But....where is the smoking section?? (we are smokers):lmao:

We HAVE never been picked by the DT:mad: ....and we have been there 5x for YOAMD...we just aint lucky folks! Luck wouldnt find us if it hit us in our faces!!!!:sad2:

:confused3 :sad2: :scared:
My husband and I talked about this also. We are a group of 8, and are hoping that we aren't in the right place at the right time. How would, or actually how could we choose who would get to stay, it only sleeps 6, that would leave 2 people from our group out. Sorry as awesome as it would be, couldn't do it.

Disney is for families, and a prize like that would cause a lot of stress in our family, it's Disney, don't need any more stress in our vacation.

So yes, we would be one of the families that would say sorry, we can't accept the prize.

(of course we would be crying and pouting, all day, but what are you gonna do?)

DH and I have already talked about this. It doesn't matter what we have planned or even if we're supposed to be leaving that day! We're staying in the castle! And I'm definitely not a princess person either. But heck, the castle? wow.

Gosh, wouldn't that be wonderful?

We (my family of 5 plus friends from Iowa with 4 more for a 'Grand' total of 9) will be in the World in less than a week for our very first time. I hope one of our families is in the right place at the right time. We would so stay there overnight even though it would split us up for a night--and we would resched our trip around it if needed. If my fam would be so lucky at the right place at the right time would ask the DS ever so politely to grant a wish for our friends family--such as a stay for them in the castle the next night or something like that. A girl can dream right??

As if we will be that lucky though. NOT!! We will just be happy to FINALLY be at WDW. That in itself is a lifelong dream of mine and BFF traveling with us. We are prolly more excited than our kids to go next week.

Good Luck on winning a dream while you're in the World everyone. Here's to wishing your dreams too come true.:wizard: :cloud9:

Hey not to hijack the topic but, we will be tenting it at the Fort in late Sept and were planning on bringing an a/c. This is not our first time camping but will be our first time bringing an a/c. Just wondering how you hook it up. We would prefer not to cut a big gaping hole in our tent.

Maybe you could pm me with the info as to not disturb this thread to much.

Thanks :goodvibes

Oh and heck yeah we would stay in the Castle! Although we only live and hour and a half away, so for us to adjust our plans is not a big deal :)

Only sleeps 6? I suppose that everyone's circumstances are different, but I know that if we were down there with my sister's family, ALL the kids would be staying in the castle and the adults would arm wrestle it out as to who would be staying with them. I know, if you have more than 5 kids there is NO WAY there could be ANYTHING that would make up for not being in the castle, no meal, not Cirque, nothing, and understand why you'd turn it down. I think I'll check jet blue and air tran right NOW to see how much it'll cost for us to change our flights!! Like I've ever won anything in my LIFE :rotfl2: Oh well, here's some hugs and pixie dust for all us dreamers! :grouphug: :wizard: . Time to go finish the :laundy: !!!

With 6 kids, I would call winning the castle night, a year of a million nightmares! Having to turn it down would be almost as bad as having one of the kids not get to stay. I'm glad to hear there are others who don't really want to win that prize.

Call me a skeptic, but I really think this will be something that can be bought in the future. I think Disney spent too much money to just tear it all apart. I think rich, possibly famous, people will find a way to get to this. Especially with the economy taking a turn for the worst, I really believe Disney will bow to the pressure and take the money and run. :confused3

theres no doubt that it will be for rent at some point. my guess is it will remain a prize at times, maybe not soemhting you wim while in the park, but more like you would win it by filling out something on the back of a cereal box type thing. but in between times i would bet it would be rented out.

i wouldnt be surprised if they already have people in line to rent it after jan 09.
