2009 Spring/Spring Advantage Official "Accepted" Thread!

I was a Vacation Planner on my CP, and I can let you know that Vacation Planners are NOT trained for the Merchandise cash register system (MATRA) - our system is completely different. Because of this, we aren't able to pick up Merch shifts or food shifts that involve using the computer system.

Send me a message if you have any questions about Vacation Planning.

hehe that's why I put ::should:: in there. I find that kind of stupid though. You don't need special training for the registers. The golf course had a completely different system than most merch locations, but I was still able to pickup hours.

That's so lame that you need training for PAC now, but I can sort of see why. People are rude and don't pay attention!

I picked up hours as permanent greeter at the Haunted Mansion and that didn't require training. All you do is park strollers and answer questions.

I also did door host a PI a LOT, but that's gone now /cry

Oh there's lots. And you can also pick up shifts in different parks in the same role, if they don't need training (for example- if you work attractions at MK, picking up an attractions shift at DHS).

I don't think I'm going to have quite as many options like that with being in Transportation and all... I would expect that if I'm on boats I'll have more options to pick up shifts, but if I get put on monorails so you think they would let me pick up shifts loading guests?

Also, have you ever heard of anyone being drive trained on both boats and monorails? not sure how that stuff works at all

What's PAC?

Parade Audience Control- they're the people working the parades (ropes, making sure the guests sit in the right area, ect).

No, I've never heard of it. I've only heard of people working one or the other. Of course, maybe it does happen. But I haven't heard of it.

I got my purple folder a week ago, and I got Custodial. I was hoping to get Attractions, but I'm alright with this. Can anyone tell me exactly what Custodial is like? Is it better than it sounds? Also I'll be arriving on January 7th, so I'm really looking forward to everything!!!

Congrats!! Custodial isn't too bad. I was in custodial in 2007 (I was at Epcot). There is a lot of guest interaction, and a lot of freedom too. You either get assigned restrooms or streets (walking around taking care of the garbages in your area) for the day. If you have any questions, I can try to answer them.

what kind of roles can be picked up in merchandising? anyone know? :cool1:

You can pick up merchandise shifts in any location, as well as any shifts that don't require any special training (that goes for any role- you can get extra hours off the HUB as long as they don't require any special training).

That's not why it requires training. :(

At Animal Kingdom, we didn't need training for it. I always asked to go to parade though, and I'd just have to help direct people to walk on the masking tape marked pathways so as to not walk out into the parade. We also had stanchions set up. At the end I would get to walk at the end of the parade since after it passes each land, the picking up of the stanchions and ropes and putting the plugs back in the holes for the stanchions. When it got to Asia myself and the international CPs would be doing that, then it would go back to Africa and I'm not sure if they had to do that at the very end when the parade came around again (it starts in Africa and goes in a circle back to Africa). At my area we could ask to go but because people like me kept asking to go a lot, they started doing it randomly.

I was curious as to why it requires training elsewhere.

It didn't use to. I was able to pick up Fant shifts at DHS, and tons of PAC shifts at MK. Fant was changed back in 2006 though, and it was just last year that MK PAC shifts became attractions-trained (which is a shame. I probably know more about Main Street PAC then most of the people who pick the shifts up; that's how many times I've done PAC).

I got my WDW letter today. I've been accepted as a character attendant for spring advantage, but I'm not going to do it.

Does it look bad if you decline the offer? I'd really like to do it next spring, since that will be right after I graduate in Dec (and I want to continue with the company). Would it be better if I ask them about it on the phone, or should I just decline online?

Also, will I be getting separate letters from Dland, as well as for seasonal? I auditioned for both, and this is the first I've heard back (my audition was two weeks ago, Sunday, and I faxed/mailed in my stuff on the Wed after that, I believe).

Just stopped by my mailbox on the way back from seeing the Florida Gators win their first basketball game of the year to find I was accepted for Attractions, Spring Advantage. Success!

Now onto to sorting out a few things lease-wise so I can actually accept.

Booo on the Florida Gators part(GO VOLS)! Congrats on the Attractions! Maybe we shall work together...

Nah, It won't look bad. Disney understands that plans change and things happen. Good Luck with your dreams with Disney!

You can just decline online. It won't affect anything (as in it won't be a negative toward you) I declined my offer for Attractions for Spring as well.

How did you audition for both Dland and seasonal?

I'm personally a Knights girl but I gotta defend my Gators. So go Gators ...and Knights (even though our boys currently can't remember how to play)!

How did you audition for both Dland and seasonal?
You just have to make sure to tell the people running the audition that you want both WDW and DLR, and they mark it on your form. And for seasonal, you just mark (and rank) what you would prefer on your form. There are little check boxes. (This is the form they give you at the audition). So I marked a 1 by seasonal and a 2 by college program.

I'm just not sure if they are going to tell me separately for each or not...

Hey Everyone!!!
I'm new here so Hey!! haha
I'm not planning on going to the spring 09 DCP but the Fall one. I know this is probably not the right place but does anyone know of any reasons for being rejected from the program. I'm nervous because I want to go so bad haha.

Well congrats to everyone going in January!!
