Need a referral for the current DVC purchase incentive?

Alright. Think we're ready to take the plunge. (I say "plunge" because of the state of the economy. Oh well, can't cheat your family out of vacation time and memories, can you?)

Glad I found this thread about the referral program. Just a couple questions:

1. Are referrals tied to a specific DVC Guide? That is, I'm near the Woodfield DTD store, and will likely purchase there. Does the person that refers me, need to be associated with a DVC Guide at that location?

2. Does anyone have any personal experience or preferences for any specific Guide at the Woodfield DTD store?

3. I'd be willing to work with someone on this board to refer me and share the rewards. Just PM me or reply.

4. Has anyone recently had experience with the DTD stores throwing in annual passes as an extra incentive?

Hi, just sent you a PM

Bob

If anyone need a referral Please PM me! My guide is great and easy to deal with if you need a guide.
I am happy to split my referral rewards. If you close before the end of the year it will be my third referral and that means $500 to share!

How much of the $ 500 are you willing to share?? You do understand that you will be getting a 1099 misc for tax purposes and depending on your tax bracket you will be paying taxes on these referral rewards.

IMHO..
It is still beyond my comprehension why any member would do this..especially when it comes out of your own pocket. The newbie might already be getting a discount by using your name...isn't that enough? i.e..past "Friends & Family" incentive....which rumor has it is the next incentive..maybe in Jan. Why/How can a newbie be so braisen to think he/she deserves a meager cut of a members reward when he/she is spending 20-30K??:rotfl2:

BTW...
You DO understand that anyone buying now will most probably have thier closing in Jan...your reward only comes AFTER they have closed...therefore you will, if anyone accepts your offer, only be entitled to a $200. perk since its the beginning of the year. popcorn::

Should be half, Ed...right?? You share rewards...Oh..only a percentage or whatever YOU deem necessary..:rotfl:
Ah...the sins of what money will do.:rolleyes1

We first off congrats on the decision to join. Given the economy it's an especially big decision but I think you will find in the long term it will be well worth it.

Referrals are not tied to guides, I usually try to refer people to my guide, but since you are not purchasing at WDW that won't make sense.

2. Does anyone have any personal experience or preferences for any specific Guide at the Woodfield DTD store?

Unfortunately I can't help here.

Message PMed. Hopefully I am the first to respond, but if not no biggie. Congrats again on the decision.

Newbies:
Keep doing your homework !!

I received an official DVC mailing a few weeks ago promoting add on's for existing members and announcing a "price increase" on Jan 15th, 2009. It would appear that the "increase" looks like an end to the $8. discount for VAK.
Here's how it's stated:

NOW
Pay $104. per pt. @ VAK
Add on @ BLT for as few as 25 pts.

After the Price Increase 1/15/09
Pay $112. per pt. @ VAK
Add on @ BLT at a minimum of 100 pts.

There are always some sort of incentives even after a price increase.

DVC is not cheap and if you are ready to take the plunge or need more information to help your family finalize a decision....feel free to pm/e-mail me.

Whether you need a referral or not...I'd be happy to share more info with you!! :cheer2:

IF anyone needs a referral let me know our guide is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new BLT referral deals are very good right now and may be the best for a while(although you never know). They have excellent incentives with a referral and now could be a good time as there is an upcoming increase in the cost per point. There are also similar referral deals at AKV too. If anyone needs a referral, I have an excellent guide and can contact him for you. He is very low pressure and great to work with. Sometimes I wonder if he is too easy going as he never tries to do anything that wouldn't work for your particular situation( which is rare in the sales business, but refreshing). He is a senior guide who has been there for many years and has an outstanding track record with myself, my family and my friends. We were very fortunate we got him. Please PM me with any questions you may have and good luck.

Is there an incentive program currently in effect for member referrals. Do potential new members get any kind of discount? Is this what is coming in January as friends and family?

I really think there will be a new incentive that goes hand-in-hand with the impending price increase. Let's face it...they have to sweeten the pot to keep a steady stream of new members. No one should be doing any "panic buying" right now given the current economic situation.

We are considering buying a DVC membership. They are FedEXing all of the paperwork to me on Monday. Would a referral work for us? We live in Texas.

Thanks!!:yay: :yay:

I am so confused about all the ins and outs of DVC. We just joined 2 weeks ago and our guide never mentioned a referral program. How does that work? I have been talking to a friend who might be interested in joining. Did maybe he not mention it because we are new or simply because we only had a 30 min appt??

If anyone is still looking for a referral please let me know. Our guide is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!

You will find referral information on the members web site.
BTW...Not all states are eligible for timeshare rewards..see the web site.

On the "initial contact" with a guide, he/she should/will ask "if anyone referred you to DVC". At that time you give the member's name and address. If you buy in soon, or, 2-5-10 years later...that members name is on your Disney record as your referral.

When you finally take the plunge..the member who referred you will get a Thank you from Disney and be eligible for a monetary reward upon your closing.(taken in Disney gift card, the member may choose to use it as D.D., towards an add on, or, towards the mtc fee.)

Also...if there are additional incentives the newbie can get, using a members name, like the Friends & Family program....it will automatically be applied to the newbies purchase & reward given to the member.

A member is only allowed 5 referrals per calendar year.
It is always good to use a member as a referral....those who don't use one save Disney $$ in not giving out rewards and possibly loose out on additional $$ savings on thier purchase depending on what discount Disney is giving at the time. :thumbsup2

I have a "Super " person as a guide and he has been strictly working DVC for the last 20 yrs. and is NOT on comission....so you get the straight scoop!! :goodvibes

If anyone needs more info on DVC and/or a referral, feel free to PM or e-mail me.
Be happy to share any DVC info and help your family make a good decision. :dance3:

I would be glad to help out if you need a referral. We have had great luck with our guide and are willing to share!:thumbsup2

Okay, so I have been doing extensive research on DVC for my wife and I. I have looked at the basics, rules, incentives, resale v. direct, and more. I am now reading this thread and I am a bit confused about referrals.

My Questions:
1. Do you receive a better offer from DVC with a referral (aka steeper discount)?
2. What are the current referral discounts/incentives for BLT or AKL?
2. Do those apply on top of the current incentives?

Thanks in advance and feel free to pm or email.
