Podcast cruise from another podcast!

Oh... I think we like Raul! Are you bringing him on the cruise?

I won't be doing that cruise. I have too many friends here who I'd rather cruise with. Just trying to be honest and open...Being part of this community I do feel like I'm part of one big family. :grouphug:

I'm such a BIG sap!!!

:)

Exactly. that would be like going to someone else's family reunion.
Each to their own, but I agree with Aaron and Nicole. I was listening to Lou's interview with Julie Andrews yesterday and heard this announcement. The first thing I thought was exactly what Nicole and Aaron said -- it would be like traveling with other people's friends. I'm sure people have become friends on Lou's boards the same way we have become friends here but what makes it fun traveling with friends is knowing the back-stories. The people on Lou's boards wouldn't know to bow down to Tiara Todd, they wouldn't know Nicole is our resident "bad" good girl, or about Mindy cistern, Jorge and his forgetfulness - not to mention the other countless stories. Heck, I'm just figuring out screen names/real names now and I've been on this board daily for years now! So, for those that have the money to do it all, have a wonderful time! But my money and loyalty is to the Dis. Hey Todd, does Raul have any sweet wine in the wine cooler?

Good morning everyone!

TGIF to all of you! Enjoy your day, your weekend, your loved ones, and your friends. :goodvibes

I know that you have a history with a lot of people here. But many of you have been posting and chatting as Podcast cruisers for over a year for the first cruise, and new people aren't going to know "the stories." I've been on the DIS daily for years, too - but not on the Podcast board. Let me tell you, it takes awhile to catch on late in the game! I was in Podcast chat Wednesday night, and all I could do was try to READ it! Do you know how fast the screen moves when 40 people type "HINT HINT HINT" to John at the same time?! :scared1: It was difficult to get a word in edgewise, and I felt very much out of my league.

I'm cruising with another group this December because my roommate is part of that group and she invited me to go. I'll be at WDW during DAP, but most likely doing stuff with the other group because of my friend. If I still go on the Podcast cruise in 2010 and have the same roommate, then we'll be doing DIS stuff because I invited her on that cruise.

Lou interviewed JULIE ANDREWS? Wow!

That being said, I would like to continue the family analogy, if I may.

The 'new' people for PCC 2.0 are like the cousins of the cruisers of PCC 1.0. (Same to be said of the differing Disney Podcasts.) The cousins that mom and dad talk about and tell you they are Aunt Mabel and Uncle Hershel's family. Maybe you've seen them at a family reunion, but haven't spoken to them.

Right here and now is where the two sides of the family can meet and get to know each other before we all go on the greatest family reunion yet.

I NEVER thought I'd ever be part of such a family as this.

I am glad :goodvibes that I have the opportunity and am being welcomed.

Chat can be very overwhelming at times, but don't be discouraged. Some of us have been chatting for years. Everyone is welcome to join in, but don't get upset if your question/statement gets missed. It goes by fast for us too.

A few tricks we use are:
1. Make your font larger (easier to read).
2. Change the color of your font (get it noticed).
3. Under the options tab, click, "Display user in a single line" (makes reading easier).

You just have to jump in and know we are happy you are there. :)

And try not be be bothered if you ask a question or make a comment and get no response. It happens to me all the time.
Sure it bothers me :rolleyes1, but I am trying to get used to it.

Just go with the flow and try to get sucked in, not pulled under!

Nancy, I think when someone joins a new group, whether it be online or off, they feel either left out due to experiences people had prior to their joining or they do not know how to jump right in. I am glad that you have decided to join in the festivities here on the podcast board. I can understand that you might feel confused or unfamiliar because you are new. However, that is normal. Personally, I have not seen anyone shun you away from conversations, threads, etc. I feel that this is a very welcoming group.

I'm sorry that you felt out of your league. One thing that might help in chat is to maximize the chat window so it is larger and fix the settings so the lines are double-spaced. That really makes a difference, but keep in mind that there are a lot of people in chat at once. This attributes to the speed of it. Try coming in earlier in the night when not as many people are there and it might be easier. Also, remember that everyone has been "new" at one point or another and until they jump right in and participate they will not have the same common ground to talk about.

As a side note, I just wanted to say that due to my work schedule (I am a teacher) I have not been able to attend any of the cruises or DAP events. Still, I do not feel out of the loop. Sure, there are conversations and experiences that I will miss out on and it's very likely that they will get brought up again. That is just a part of human nature though and I'll find other ways to reconnect or just sit back and enjoy listening to the stories.

This truly is a great group. One just needs to put themselves out there to get to know one another and have that common ground.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did #1 and #2 on a slow chat day, and will try #3 next time. It is hard to see the name of the person talking because the type is small and faint!

I'm not "new"...I'm OLD - and you all are YOUNG! I'll try to remember to get to chat earlier next Wednesday night so I can warm-up my fingers before everyone arrives! :lmao:

I think it is so cool that you are "in the loop" without being at the events.

The reverse is not always true.
Last year I was a podcast listener only. I heard all about the Mousefest event, was at my computer to sign up, loved riding the ride with no line. But since I had not been active on the Boards, I was not "connected" to people once at the party and didn't have a good a time as I should have.

I look forward to connecting with people in person. But somehow feel somewhat connected now.

I loved the pictures of the flatties on the cruise. So in a way, Nikki, you were on the cruise.

By her post count, I'd say that Nancy is "experienced"!

If something I ask is overlooked and I want an answer, I ask it again. Not in a pushy way, but assertively. Because I know how fast the screen flies.

Example:
jeanigor:Do you think its better to bring hard sided or soft sided luggage to WDW?
<DisneyKevin enters room>
Thirty DISer's almost simultaneously: Hi Kevin!
(usually followed by: How's the eye? Where's John? Got any hints?)

Very easy for a question to get swept away. And its not like here on the boards where you can go back and easily read what someone has said.

I understand that feeling. I was at WDW during MouseFest last year, too, and I went to the DIS tree lighting ceremony. Most of the people there were strangers to me, so I didn't stick around long.

Oh yes, Todd! You described it so well.
I usually do not re-post my questions. But following your advice, I will.
Thanks from one of your princess:ladies-in-waiting.
