sak0526: Oh, I don't plan to spend much additional money. I do crafting projects throughout the year, so have a lot of the stuff I need already. Once I know how many people there will be I can see what more I need. I don't plan on spending any more than $30-$40.

scubadiver: I actually have only done SM once and have never done a FE and this will be my 9th cruise. I am choosing to do it this time, but I totally know the "just veg out" feeling. I have requested an assistant server this trip, and I will request two different Palo servers (if they are both there), but it would not ruin my trip by any means if my requests were not granted. For me, planning is part of the anticipation of the trip, but DH and I will be relaxing much of the time as well.

Linda: Thank you for the clarification, I will look out for that.

Jen: I will keep you, Jeff and your friends in my prayers. I hope they will return safely. You will be missed, but I understand not wanting to talk about the cruise now.
Thank you for your service, and please thank your friends as well. :goodvibes

Jen there are way more important things to worry about than this cruise. You and Jeff take all the time you need. A big thank you to you and your friends for all you have done and sacrificed for this great country.

Couple if things....

Military deployments suck. Our party of fun on this cruise included two active duty friends of mine who just got married. Right now they're separated over 2000 miles, he's in MS and she's in CA. They're definitely meeting up in January. Just not on the boat. But in Afghanistan. Please keep them in your prayers. Kris is a very dear friend of mine. She kept me in line and straight when we were stationed together. Our cruise was suppose to be their honeymoon. Sadly, they won't even really see each other in Afghanistan as she'll be at the main airbase and he'll be in the middle of no where. This seriously sucks.
Remember, freedom isn't free. Someone has to pay for it.

I really have no desire to talk about this cruise right now. I think Jeff and I are going to drop off the radar for a bit....

OH NO! That SERIOUSLY SUCKS! Darn Uncle Sam. I am SO SO sorry for both of them - and you guys, too :hug:

I wonder if we could adopt them in some way . . . spread a little magic to Afghanistan . . .

Oh, that would be totally cool. I would love to put together a little love from the USA! Maybe we can get their addresses and send some stuff. I know I would...

Want to reintroduce myself, I am Val and my DH is Bob. We are excited to be booked on the PC trip. We are also on the transatlantic cruise leaving on the 18th, from Barcelona. That cruise is taking up most of my time but we certainly are looking forward to this cruise and meeting all of you. If you wouldn't mind, could someone please explain how/if this group is doing an FE exchange? If you are doing an exchange are you broken down into small groups or exchanging with the entire group?

Looking forward to getting to know all of you and sharing in our exciting cruise. Hope all of you have a great Labor Day Celebration. Val

Hello Val and Bob. My DW and I were also booked on the TA on the 18th but sadly had to cancel due to DW job. Anyway almost ready to do the PIF dance as we made another 1700 payment today. Only 300 more to go.

Hi Val. Enjoy your upcoming cruise across the pond. I would love to do a cruise like that some time. But for now I'll take this PC cruise.

I think, just based off of recent posts, the FE exchange is going to be the entire group. That's just the feeling I get at the moment though. If you look at the first post of this thread you'll see that when the time comes everyone will be contacting Jeff to have him indicate on the cruise website list of cruisers all those planning to participate and then each of us can work out from there what we're going to do.

Thank you for the welcome. Sorry you won't be joining us on the TA sailing. The thread for that cruise is very very active. We are on the 9th thread. I am very fortunate as when I joined the group they had already many activities organized and in place.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you. val

Thank you for the information. I think our Final Payment is due on or about 10-8. I'll keep checking in until I leave on 9-13 and then when I get back on 10-3.

Have a good night. Val

If you're talking about the Final Payment Date for this cruise then I think it's 9/8.

I just sent our info in to pay our balance. I'm kind of bummed since our cousins that were suppose to go with us have decided to cancel. This trip will be strange for me as we always travel with extended family.

Final payment is indeed September 8th for everyone.

Hi everyone,

Well, it's September 6... that means exactly 4 months from today, we'll be getting on the ship! Can't wait!!

I have a question for those of you who have done GTY before, specifically with Cat 5A (I think in the old system, that was just category 5.... Veranda w/ the clear plexiglass).

We are 5A GTY. The reason we booked 5A GTY instead of a lower GTY veranda category is because we REALLY want to make sure we get the plexiglass on our veranda. We don't want the solid while wall, or the hole in the solid white wall. (FYI, by the time we booked, there were no veranda rooms at all available... only GTY, so that is why we booked GTY. Otherwise, we would have just picked a stateroom so we would know we got what we wanted).

Does anyone know with the category 5A GTY if that means we'll for sure be guarenteed a clear plexiglass veranda? What I've wondered is IF (and I doubt this will happen) we get upgraded to the Category 4 rooms, if they'd stick us with a solid white wall even though it'd be considered an "upgrade"?

My question is if we have paid for a category that only offers a clear plexiglass veranda, if they did upgrade us to the category 4, would they for sure put us with a clear plexiglass veranda because we have paid the price for one?

Has this ever happened to anyone before (booked 5A GTY and were put in veranda categroy room w/out the clear plexiglass)? I hope they just keep us at Category 5A. I don't care where the Cat 5A stateroom is, as long as we have the clear plexiglass. :)

Thanks!!

Kathy

Hi Val, see you next week!!:dance3:

If you're talking about the Final Payment Date for this cruise then I think it's 9/8.

We are booked with Dreams unlimited, and they need final payment by the 7th, tomorrow. I really don't know why they need it a day early unless they give a day for processing them with DCL.

Good Morning everyone!

Yes, I think it is for processing, just to make sure everything goes smoothly. But, DCL's official PIF date is this Wednesday. I think they make it earlier than 75 days for special cruises.

I have a question for those familiar with DL, is Steakhouse 55 worth it? What are your impressions/reviews?

Good morning everyone! Happy Labor Day! The oldest 2 DSs and their DWs are coming for dinner today - along with their dogs. Should make for an interesting afternoon - thankfully they all get along well.

Enjoy your PIF happy dances! And, for those of you sailing on the TA - safe travels and smooth seas to you. Tomorrow night is booking time for us - I have it all ready to go, will just take a little nap and get up and have at it.

Have fun today!

i hate to ask another stupid question, but what is a GTY catogory?
we have a navigators veranda. Second stupid question: plexiglass or white wall towards sea?
thanks!

been cleaning out my dad's apartment, both his stuff and his wife's -she's in alzheimers care and she thinks anything in pants (including some tall females) is my father. should make for an interesting winter when most females will arrive in pants and not shorts! been reading but mostly just too sad to post. am looking forward to this cruise. our "emergency" trip to WDW helped for a bit too.

take care, happy labor day!
Sherri

Welcome Val and Bob!!!

We received our email yesterday from our TA verifying we are now paid in full :banana::banana: Anxiously waiting room assignments. We are GTY 11B and since there are quite a few OV rooms left, we're hoping to get one of those. I'm just happy to be on the boat but definitely wouldn't turn down the upgrade if they decide to spread the pixie dust on us :)

Hope everyone is enjoying their labor day. DH had to go in to work this morning at 6am and will hopefully be off by noon or 1. So at least it's not a full day :goodvibes

Sorry you're going through a rough time

GTY category is when they have no more rooms in that particular category. They will overbook those categories and assign a few GTY reservations knowing that some people will cancel. They can assign you anywhere on the ship in a category at or above what you booked. For example, we are in GTY 11B meaning they can put us anywhere from 11B or better. Usually, those that book an inside GTY get an inside but they occasionally will get upgraded to OV and very, very rarely (like on cruises that have a bunch of vacancies like the EBTA this spring) to a balcony. The PP that stated she is GTY 5A, they can only assign her a room that is 5A or better.

One of my room mates, who has been to Aruba before, recommends the Banana Bus tour http://www.bananabusaruba.com/

The website says they tour Tuesday through Saturday and we'll be in Aruba on Monday. I emailed with them and they say if enough people sign up for a tour on Monday, they will run one. Apparently it is not necessary to pay to sign up - they didn't ask for my CC#. If anyone is interested in this non-Disney excursion option, please visit the Banana Bus website and sign up. In the comment section put "Disboard group"

Post one has been updated to include this information.

They do a fantastic job!
