Booking day for dvc member cruise tomorrow!!

1 hour 50 minutes. Just got picked up. 5B and above is what's available still. Reservationist sounds tired...not the usual perky people they normally are. I wonder why???? This has got to be extrememly stressful on them.

Note to DVC: If your telecom and IVR infrastructure can't handle this type of volume. Find a more efficient way to handle your peak volume days. I work in the customer operations area of my company and I would be fired for this kind of call center performance.

I really think they should do this by a lottery system. Have a three day window on the member website where you can fill out a request form and then DVC can randomly fill the staterooms and waitlist the rest. It's better than spending ... well six hours now ... on the phone not knowing if I'll ever get to talk to someone and even if I do, will ... holey carp! They just answered during Wishes!! :goodvibes Finally!

That is the same thing my DH suggested. A lottery. Well, it's 2:30P so 6 1/2 hrs to book a 4 day cruise...hey that's not bad huh? :rotfl2: It took the res agent less than 10 minutes. We're doing the happy dance now :dance3:

Good luck all of those still on hold.

Hold? I would do the happy dance to actually make it past the member services prompt. over 6 1/2 hours of dialing and thousands of busy's and 3 dropped calls after hitting 1 at the member services prompt.

called for 5hours
waiting time 1h 45min
booked CAT 5A (all others booked) (not many 5A's left)
2nd dinner seating, 7pm show.

now i can relax!

doing the:cool1::cool1::cheer2::cheer2: happy dance

OK, six hours of dialing and getting worried that we won't make it through.

Only cat 5c, 5b, 5a, 4d, 4c, 4b, 4a are left. Once in the que, another 2 hours to try and book a cabin.

once i got in the que, it took 2 hours 5 minutes and 17 sec. good luck to all of you still trying.

On hold 30 min w/ phone plugged in. Afraid to touch it. I really can use a nap. I started to fall asleep right before I got through. I figure minimum one hour mire if hold time according to Web site. This has been more stressful than I realized. If we do get a room (and we did want a verandah- it's going to cost quite a bit. I checked prices for cash Sept cruises- much more reasonable. I figure if it is meant to happen it will. I doubt I will do this again next year.

Totally agree with you Friendofpluto. We want a verandah too but don't really want to pay more than 5A but DH said go ahead with Cat 4 if needed. Who knows what will be available in another hour or so.

at a certain point it feels like a challenge:yay:

I agree - this has been stressful, dialing all day - feeling forturnate to finally be on hold - and wondering if anything will be available when we do get to an agent. I fell even worse for those that have been dropped over and over again.:sad2:

So here's a question:

If you reserve the Member Cruise with cash and then decide later to use points, can you do that? Or do you just have to then pay the $95 fee?

Or is the vice versa true?

Just a question as we're killing time on hold. :rotfl:

I would definitely NOT plan on doing that as there have been many issues with trying to rebook cruises on points in recent weeks.

For those who are making it onto the cruise, HERE is the "official" 2011 DVC Member Cruise Meet Thread here on the DIS's Cruise Meets Board. Feel free to hop over and get to know your fellow travelers over the coming months.

Looking forward to seeing you there! :)

I was trying to dial in on two phones from 5am to 9am when it finally rang and I got in the queue. I was on hold for a little more than two hours and while we were on the phone, the category I wanted sold out (we are booked on the cruise before this one and I wanted the same cabin). I ended up getting the category up from what I wanted. One deck higher and one stateroom over.

After I was all confirmed with DVC, I was able to log on to DCL and amazingly the same cabin I booked for DVC showed up as available for the cruise before when I searched for it (but hadn't been there on the list!!). So, for another $20 I was able to get us booked into the same cabin for both cruises. 4 hours of dialing + 2 hours on hold + 20 minutes booking + 20 minutes on DCL's site ... all I can say is, this cruise had better be a good one! LOL
