I see page one is not up to date. Has anyone been in contact with Bellelinus?

Joannel- I see you are from FWB. We used to live there as well. Have not been back there in about 7 years. I am sure there have been a lot of changes.

Is anyone else flying into Seattle and then taking ground transportation to VanCouver?

I almost forgot to ask..Is there a group facebook page for this cruise?

we are trying to decide if this is the best way to go and most likely will try it that way.

Yes, we have been here since 94. DH was in the air force, so when he retired we stayed. I love it here. My kids have graduated from college and have moved so who knows if we will stay forever. But for now we have jobs and will stay!!

It's very busy right now with spring break, and the weather has gotten really nice. I am hoping for some beach time this week end!!!

We are flying into Vancouver so I can't help you with Seattle.

I'm not sure why page 1 isn't updated....I PM'd her but no response. Anyone else?

We're driving up from Seattle so haven't looked at what the ground transportation are but have done Amtrak up there before if anyone needs info on that.

I was stationed at Eglin and Hurlburt Fld. and so was my husband. My son was born at Eglin. Small world. We retired in NJ and decided Virginia was a compromise from NY and Fl.

Good luck on your future endeavors, where ever they may take you.

Glad you asked. We are wanting to do Amtrak. I wanted my grandchildren to experience every mode of transportation on this trip. I see that their are only two trains and the rest are buses. I want to take the train up. Do you think the early morning train will have enough sights of interest. Someone recommended to take the evening from Vancouver, but that leaves us hanging around Vancouver all day after we get off the ship.

I just created a group on facebook, if anyone is interested. It is called:
"DCL Klondike Kruisers" Shocking I know;)

We did this on the last cruise and it was another way to get to know folk. So if anyone is interested please join.:surfweb:

It's a mixed bag to be honest. There are some lovely lovely coastal parts of the ride. There are also some old, ugly abandoned industrial parts (interesting to see but a bit sad as well, just a changing of industry and times so fascinating in that respect) and a lot of small stops. I'm not sure what you mean by sights of interest. The trains supposedly have been recently refurbished. We were on them in November of 2009 so it was pretty grey and rainy. In August though, it should be lovely out and the coastal part, just stunning. The train was nothing fancy but it was lovely not to drive and deal with the border. Border is easy going over, it's coming back that is a pita. The train was FABULOUS in that respect, both ways.

We took a cab to and from the train station, it was easiest from where we were and it really was lovely not to have to deal with a car since we were downtown all weekend. Nice to be able to read, listen to music, eat lunch etc. At the time it didn't link up with the light rail station, which was just barely complete for the Olympics, not sure if that is fixed now as that would make a huge difference in ease of access.
