December 2012 Car Rentals

Question for all the car renting vetrans. We are staying at BLT and need a rental car for 1 day 12-12-12. We are going to visit friends a few hrs away. Who is the best place/easiest place to rent from. We need an early pick up ~ 7am. TIA!!!!

National or Alamo at the Disney Car Care Center near TTT, and they will pick you up at BLT.
Weekday hours 6:00AM to 8:00PM
Weekend hours Sunday 6:00AM to 6PM, Saturday 6:00AM to 6:00PM

I think I may be a dummy to this rental car thing as I have never rented a car in my life. I have been checking prices daily for months but don't see the deals you all are getting. I did just find a deal with no codes from Dollar directly from their site. Dec 11-18th. Pick up at noon and drop off at 5:30pm. Total after taxes shows $169 for a premium. Is this good or is Dollar a bad one to rent from? I need to jump on something but am hesitant because I don't have experience with this stuff.
Thanks

My biggest piece of advise is: Book now, waffle later. Unless it's a pay in advance rate you can always cancel if something better comes along. FTR, the Dollar car rental is perfectly OK. Oh ... and that's a GREAT rate for 8 days so you are NOT a dummy!

I just checked that rate with Dollar and the base rate is $169. The total inc taxes and fees is actually $239. I don't know if the additional driver is important to you but Dollar charges an additional $10/day. With Budget using wendie code D454300 and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off you can get an intermediate SUV and free additional driver for $208. Coupon is applied when return vehicle. If you are a costco member you can get a premium with enterprise for $229 inc taxes and free additional driver.

Has anyone had experience with Advantage at MCO?

I'm a wee bit nervous (b/c so inexpensive); reserved a full size car w/ them for only $148 for 8 days 2nd week of Dec.. Previously, we've used Budget, Alamo, Enterprise....

If you go back a few pages there is a discussion on advantage but to some it up someone just recently used them and had a good experience. They said just make sure you check the car over some cars have lots of scratches or dings. We got a great rate and will be using them Dec1-6 for $87ish total

I just came back to report the same thing. The Dollar website is a little confusing since it says "$149/week, $169.99 total" but that's because Becky is renting for 8 days and not 7. She still needs to click through to "Step 4 Book the Car" to see the real total with taxes.

Yeah, see I am a dummy. lol. I saw that a bit ago. Found a coupon code and it came to $209.82.
For the Budget one, won't I need the actual coupon email though? I am so lost on what to do.
I can't get the Budget coupons to work together.

Well.... I decided to use priceline and I hope I didn't make a big mistake. I went on and did a name my own price. I was rejected for a full size at $11.00 a day. Tried $13 and got it. Total price is $181.84 after taxes and fees through Avis. Is Avis an ok rental agency? I am super happy with this rate based on what I have been seeing even with coupons. My only worry is on Priceline a full-size car say's seats 5 with 4 pieces of luggage. On Avis it says seats 5 with 2 pieces.

I started to get really nervous b/c their rates are so good compared to others!!! I did hear they were being bought out again, but I don't think that's officially gone through yet. We had reserved a full-size a while ago- and it's a good thing b/c I just checked and they appear to be sold out of some vehicle types during the dates we'll be there!

This is for anyone that has used the KLM code - I did sign up for Flying Blue but didn't write the number down and used the discount code for my National Car rental in December. Am I going to have to have the number when I exit the parking garage?

Just used the KLM code 2 weeks ago for a rental at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and was NOT asked to provide proof of KLM membership.

Didn't you get an email from Flying Blue? Your number should be there.

You did fine! If you go to Avis' website you'll see that it says 2 large pieces and 2 small pieces of luggage fits in into a Full Size car.

I am ordering an Entertainment Book today so will probably replace the coupon listed above the with the one in the book (also $25 off) once it arrives.

Like yourself, we also have a ressie with Budget for a mini-van using Budget X474200 (public Travelocity code). Just wondering if you were successful in replacing your coupon with one from the Entertainment Book. I just received my book but unsure about a few things. The Entertainment coupons all ask you to mention a particular BCD code with a CPN #. Does it have to work this way or can I take say the CPN # from the $35 off a 10+ day rental and use it together with the X474200? If they ask for the coupon, isn't there the chance they could question this? Or is it just a try it and see what happens and the worst that can happen is that you don't get the $35 off? Also, can a coupon code that you come across later on be applied when you pick up the car or am I supposed go online to modify the reservation by adding it? Thanks.

I got such a great deal (50% off the rate I was quoted without the KLM code) I am somewhat nervous about my reservation too using the KLM code :worried:

I booked a rental with National after signing up with KLM/Royal Dutch and used their partner code. I received an email from their Flying Blue club with my "temporary" card. I printed it off and will carry it with our other important papers just in case :goodvibes

Check your email account you used to sign up for Flying Blue membership and see if they sent you an email that you could print off.

I am going December 7-10 and just got a car through Costco travel, with Alamo for $82 after taxes!!! I booked one last week and it was $176. Doubled checked today on a whim and cancelled an rebooked!

Whoaaa, I wish I had costco! I'm going to try with BJs and see if I have any luck.

I am going to call Budget this week and see what I can find out. I will be sure to post back after I get the scoop!
