Board Game Recommendations

I need suggestions for new fun family board games. Our group consisted of tween girls, teenage boy, parents and a grandparent. Ideally all eight of us could play together, individually or as teams. The grand is hard of hearing so any game that requires listening to sound effects won't work.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

All ages will really enjoy Anomia. Easy to learn and lots of laughs. they have a party edition that I finally got becuase we had played the original one so much we needed some new material.

What ever you do, don't play monopoly. It destroys friends and families!

I love monopoly though, is my all time favorite board game.

You might also want to look into card games like rummy, canasta, rook, uno, etc..

Telestrations. A drawing game. They have a party size that can include, I believe, about a dozen people at a time.
This is my families favorite game. Instead of using the cards, we make things up. It's hysterical!

"Things" is fun. Not a 'board game' per se but fun.

King of Tokyo
I survive
Ticket to ride
Labyrinth (this is a new favorite for us)

Settlers of Catan
Machi Koro
Scrabble
Ticket to Ride

On a side note....We can't get Machi Koro. I don't know if we aren't playing right, but it just seems blah. There is a game store where you can play board games and we were thinking about going and playing to see if we can figure it out. We watched a YouTube video but still don't really get it. We're pretty good with games but just can't pick this one up.

We love Ticket to Ride and my kids are addicted to the Labyrinth board game my younger son just got for his birthday. If y'all are into history then the card game Time Line is a lot of fun. It's really easy to learn but it becomes more challenging the longer the game goes on and the more people who play it at once. The cards are really well done too.

A fun and easy game for all ages to play together is Quirkle. It's like Dominos with a twist. We like to play the travel version.

I love Settlers of Catan! It's a favorite at my family's reunions. Apples to Apples is a classic, though not a board game.

I like Munchkins. Castle Panic is a good game, its a teamwork game too... players against the board.

Left, Center, Right - we add "rules" to it to make it more fun. If someone rolls all of the same, they get to make up a rule. The rule stays in effect until the next person rolls all of the same on one turn, then they can void the rule, or keep it and add a new one. Rules can include anything from saying "So-and_so is awesome" before your turn ends, to "no touching your face unless it's your turn", to "you have to pat the head of the person to the right during your turn". Hilarious, and so much fun to play with the kids. My tween DD and her cousins have a blast playing with us.

Two more fun ones:
Beat the Parents

Also, seconding Exploding Kittens. :) Very easy to learn, and hilarious.

(The game I play most often with my family is Cards Against Humanity, but my "kids" are 18 and 20 years old.)

My 9-year 0ld daughter and I love Exploding Kittens and Fluxx (Adventure Time version). I've been considering getting Munchkin...

My 12-year old son refuses to play Fluxx, because we got it from the comic book store, and he's afraid he'll become a "comic book store nerd!" (There are some "interesting" guys who hang out there and play games in the back...)

Star Fluxx is really good, too. And your son is missing out! Maybe you should arrange to play it near him, and see if he doesn't get dragged in despite himself. :)

And, maybe mention to him that true "coolness" is having the confidence to like things just because you like them, without worrying about how you'll appear to other people.
