Where did you eat in Vancouver?

We will need a lunch, dinner, and breakfast. Staying at Canada Place area and won't have a car. I'd like to be able to walk. Looking for lunch and breakfast on the cheap. Willing to spend a bit more on dinner, but nothing fancy at all.

Thoughts?

Japadogs with Beard Papa cream puffs for dessert! They're right next to each other on Robson. It's probably a 15 minute walk from Canada place.

if you're willing to hop on a taxi and venture a little further away for dinner, read on. ;)

for our cruise last july, we stayed a few blocks from canada place and didn't have a car. for our first dinner we took a taxi to the keg steakhouse on alberni. the service and food were both excellent.

for our second dinner we had a very good experience at a chinese restaurant called Kirin, recommended by a chinese friend who has eaten there many times. it's of the cantonese variety (peking duck, seafood specialty, nothing super spicy).

btw since you're so close to canada place, don't miss bella gelateria!

Thoughts....
Going further away from the cruise terminal....

We ate at the Flying Pig in Gastown - not cheap, but very yummy. We walked there from our hotel which was by Canada Place. We also ate dinner at Rogue Kitchen and Wetbar which was across from Canada Place. We enjoyed our dinner there too. There is a gelato place right by the Fairmont that was over the top good (mentioned in the post right above mine).

Japadog kiosk is walking distance on....Water Street? Though that one does shut down if weather is funky or business is slow.

Cafe Crepe is everywhere and delicious.

Red Robin off Robson is very nice, and different than American RR.

Qoola frozen yogurt (that my family can actually have some flavors of!) on Robson and what seems to be Bute.

Breka 24 hour bakery just up from there on Bute.

Downtown Vancouver is immensely walkable. :)

Canada Place was an easy walk to a lot of dining spots. We walked to both Chinatown and Gastown and picked based on menus. We didn't have a bad meal in Vancouver, even without doing any research on restaurants.

I checked my notes and this is where we ate in Gastown: http://chillwinston.com/ They had a nice outdoor patio and some kid friendly options (though my son wound up passing out in his stroller because of the time difference and didn't eat).

You have to give Tim Horton's a try. Great coffee and doughnuts.
It's across the street from Canada Place and The Pan Pacific hotel.
Gastown is one of our favorite places to walk around.
Stay away from The Old Spaghetti Factory, horrible food, we asked our trolley driver and he recommended it, but it was not good.
Granville Island is a great place to go and walk around also, all kinds of places to grab a bite to eat. We took a water taxi over and spent several hours walking around.

Have fun, Vancouver is a beautiful city!!!!

Vancouver has tons of great places to eat. Here's a place that others probably won't meniton:

Mean Poutine http://www.meanpoutine.ca/

I was looking at Flying Pig but in Yelp it has "no" in the "Good for Kids" category. What do you think?

My favorite place to eat in Vancouver is Salt Tasting Room. It is 5 minute walk from Canada Place. Don't let the fact that it is located on Blood Alley scare you away. It is a really cool place. They only serve meat and cheese plates. So it is a little different but SUPER cool.

Also, you should consider doing breakfast or lunch at the Granville Island Public Market. They have several nice food stalls or you can make a great picnic meal to take with you. It is a hike from Canada Place but Granville Island is a must stop for us on every visit to Vancouver. You can easily spend a couple hours on the island. You can walk to the island, bike to the island along the sea wall, take a cab or take an aquabus across False Creek.

There is also a food court under the Fairmont Waterfront across the street. They do close early for dinner.

Forgot about Tim Hortons! You can't go to Canada without trying Tim Hortons!!!
