A Private, Romantic 30th Anniversary Trip- Just Ask My Friends! Last Afternoon: EP p. 37 9/19

I love the Gutter Girls & their bowling shirts. It would have been hysterical if you and Mark had worn the matching bowling shirts ... but hey, you did the best you could. You have to pick your battles sometimes, and I'm guessing that convincing Mark to wear the bowling shirt would have been an unwinnable battle.

Sad that you didn't get to meet up with your friends ... but MK is definitely hard to navigate when it's crowded. Pushing through people is not as easy as it seems, and I definitely understand not wanting to do it. As much as having a good spot really can make the parade experience more enjoyable ... it's not worth being rude to get that spot.

I'm glad Mark got his french fries. Sometimes it's the little things that matter the most...

The t-shirt was just about the limit of what Mark was willing to wear. A friend had let me borrow her husband's Disney (Chip and Dale) themed aloha shirt that I thought would go well with our "costumes" but he wouldn't even wear that.

That was probably the low point of the evening. Mark didn't care for the parade and I was sad that I missed watching it with my friends.

But- French fries! That helped a little.

Where was Missy's garden?

The new grassy area in the Hub.

Not only can I describe Missy's garden, I can show you a picture of it. With Missy. From earlier today!

So sorry you didn't get to meet the others for the parade and that your view wasn't the best :(
Maybe you need a do over to make it right :)
The fries look tasty so that's something I suppose :) and hey Mark wore the tshirt so while he wasn't a " gutter guy" he was playing his part :)

I loved seeing the picture of Missy in "her" garden on Facebook.

:goodvibes

We survived our river safari. Are we going to brave pirates?

We ARRRRRGH!

pirate:

LOL

:welcome: to the trip report! Thanks for reading!

And for appreciating my attempt at humor.

Not sure that my brother finds that as amusing as you or I do, but, oh well.

;)

The problem with the do-over is that Mark won't be all that excited to watch the parade again.

He was comfortable in the t-shirt- in a literal comfort sense and in a "I'm not really standing out" way.

Villains Show: Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

We had a little bit of time after our snack at Caseys and before the Villains show was going to start, but not enough time that we would risk going on a ride with a long line.

So we did some more Trick or Treating in the Tomorrowland area.

I didn’t take many pictures of other guests in costumes, but I liked this Incredible family.

Hey, I think it’s time for a party selfie:

Fail!

We were in the hub and found a place to watch the show behind a low fence. Since I am so short, this was a good location because nobody was standing in front of me. We were pretty far back from the stage, but that was ok.

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is a live show performed on the Cinderella Castle stage. It stars the Sanderson sisters from the 1993 film Hocus Pocus who return to the mortal world for one night during Halloween Season. With only a few hours to run amok, they decide to use their magic to throw the best, most evil party this side of the graveyard. Guests include Disney Villains Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie, Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Hades, Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Captain Hook and Lady Tremaine.

The show also features performances of “Come Little Children”, “I Put a Spell on You”, “Friends on the Other Side” and “Oogie Boogie’s Song”.

Mark didn’t say anything during the show. It was tough for me to interpret whether he was enjoying it or not. The show had a good storyline, but we/he didn’t really know all of the characters.

You see, we have never seen Hocus Pocus.

Don’t judge!

We haven’t seen The Princess and the Frog or The Nightmare Before Christmas either.

I know, I know!

Heck, I’ve never seen Dirty Dancing.

OK, you can judge now!

When the show was over, I asked Mark what he thought.

He liked it. He really liked it!

Nope. Haven’t seen Norma Rae, either…

That’s a wrap!

Next up: Hallowishes

Just caught up on your report. When we went on Haunted Mansion at MNSSHP there image on the lawn called out to my husband and made a comment about his beard. So someone is watching the folks walking by

We haven't seen those movies either. Hocus Pocus is a cute movie. You might want to watch it some Halloween, when they usually air it. :)

DD and I love Hocus Pocus ! We haven't been to MNSSHP since my kids were little. I had no idea they had a show built around the Sanderson Sisters with songs from the movie. Now I have to figure out a way for us to go to Disney during this time.
Love all the pictures and agree the Incredible family looked well incredible :rotfl: I know bad joke :goodvibes

I love that family's Incredible costumes. I could never get my family to along with something like that.

The Hocus Pocus Villian Spectacular sounded like a good show. I'm glad you both enjoyed it.

I don't care about the other movies, but I'm totally judging you for not seeing Dirty Dancing!

Okay, most important thing first: how have you never seen Dirty Dancing? That's a classic. You have to see it.

I'm glad Mark enjoyed the Villains Spectacular! After the bad parade experience, you guys definitely deserved something enjoyable!

Great update, sounds like had a blast at the Halloween Party!

Although.. I must say we've never seen The Princess and the Frog or The Nightmare Before Christmas either... but Hocus Pocus & Dirty Dancing are classics!

What a bummer concerning the parade snafu. I think being able to see the entirety of the show makes a difference...

I'm glad the Villians show a success, though! But, wait, you've never seen Hocus Pocus?! Next Halloween season, you should definitely give it a shot. I watch it every year and can't wait for the kids to get a little older so they can watch it with me. There's a lot of jokes that go over the kids, which I find amusing now that I watch it as an adult and realize how oblivious I was. :rotfl2:

Nightmare before Christmas is a good one. I also think Princess and the frog is a hidden gem. I haven't seen Dirty Dancing either but I think I am in a younger age group where that is more acceptable ;)

Okay, I was with you when you said you hadn't seen The Princess and the Frog and Hocus Pocus (I've never wanted to see either), but I did let out a little gasp when I read that you hadn't seen Nightmare Before Christmas as that's a family favourite. But when I read you hadn't seen Dirty Dancing I became sad. Maybe we don't have as much in common as I thought. :(

When not vacationing at Disney, we have spent many summer vacations at Fern Resort, a little place in Ontario. The only way I can describe Fern is to say that it is exactly like Dirty Dancing. I always bring our Dirty Dancing DVD with us to Fern and if we have a rainy afternoon I make the boys watch it with me. :)

Dirty Secret

I shared my dirty secret with you all. I don't know exactly why I haven't seen Dirty Dancing.

It came out in 1987- 30 years ago. I was definitely busy "Having the Time of My Life" that year. I was a newlywed- Mark and I were married in July 1986, in between our junior and senior years in college. In May 1987, we graduated from UNH. I was working a couple of jobs- Dunkin Donuts and waitressing at Weathervane Seafoods. Mark was starting a 3rd shift job at Raytheon doing quality control testing on the Patriot Missile after we graduated.

We very rarely went to the movies- that is still true. Mark had no interest in going to this one in the few instances we had a date night. In the intervening years, I rarely have control of the television remote, which is fine with me, but that means we never come across it if it airs on tv.

Yada Yada Yada, 30 years later, I have failed at growing up in the 80s!!!

I'll go put myself in a corner now.

:sad2:

I love the interactive experiences at Disney. I have one coming up later in the report.

Maybe now that we have seen the show at the Halloween party, I can get Mark to watch the movie. I guess I could pull the "It's my birthday" card.

We had a great time at the party. Over the weekend, I was planning an imaginary Disney vacation for October, which I don't think is going to happen. But I asked Mark if he would want to do the party again or just catch the fireworks from the Poly or CR. He said he had a really great time at the party and wanted to include it in our fantasy trip.

I believe the show with the Sanderson sisters was new this year.

Yes, the Incredible family had a strong showing in their costumes.

;)

Ditto on the costumes. I would love to do a group costume, but my family would never play along. HOWEVER, as I was discussing the fake trip with Mark, he said that he would be open to costumes if I could come up with something clever. Not Gutter Girl clever, but I probably have a couple of years to come up with something.

The show was good. The castle kept changing colors and the staging was great. Fun, evil characters.

Go ahead and judge- you are not alone!

::yes::

I'm glad Mark enjoyed the Villains Spectacular! After the bad parade experience, you guys definitely deserved something enjoyable!

I tried to put together a plausible explanation/excuse above.

On the other hand, I have seen Grease a gazillion times and probably about 65 million showings of Jurassic Park.

I couldn't tell if Mark was enjoying the show while we were watching so I was really glad when he told me how much he liked it. It was not going to be a successful party if two of the 3 headliners were duds for us.

Great update, sounds like had a blast at the Halloween Party!

We did! I think it was more fun with just the two of us than it would have been with the teen boys.

::yes::

I know! I know! Dee needs to schedule a movie marathon.

Nightmare before Christmas is a good one. I also think Princess and the frog is a hidden gem. I haven't seen Dirty Dancing either but I think I am in a younger age group where that is more acceptable ;)

The upside to never having seen Nightmare before Christmas is that I don't feel the need to wait in long lines to meet Jack and Sally at the party.

Maybe I should schedule a double feature of Nightmare with Beetlejuice. Haven't seen that either. :duck:

Yeah, your age gets you a pass on Dirty Dancing. Plus, you're a dude!

:rotfl:
