If our family is planning to go from Dec 1 through Dec 10 AND if the dates for FD are accurate and come to fruition, would I need to book a room for Dec 1 & 2 and then another room from Dec 3 - 10 in order to take advantage of the FD?

So are you going to get one room and upgrade to TS and still just do a room discount? That would work too.

No, I don't think that would cover us. It's either QS & room discount or QS upgraded to TS for both. My TA suggests getting whatever FD is offered for CSR for now & running numbers when the AP discounts come out.

I think schools are somewhat inconsistent though as often you see the sports teams, bands etc take time away from school and these aren't ever questioned. Not all of them are educational. How many bands go to Disney annually?

You're not wrong- there are a lot of times when students are out and nothing is said and it is in fact inequitable. This isnt always a choice on the school part though just politics ruling the roost. If it is a choice on the schools part and they arent equal that is another matter and one worth saying something about. My son has some developmental issues and can have a hard time understanding some things and one of his big things is fairness and equality-whatever you do dont sit by my kid and watch the rules not be applied fairly to everyone :sad2: . There int enough Motrin or patience in the world.

Your numbers look right to me. Another option to consider though is to still do room discount on one room and free dining on the other and upgrade to regular DDP. If you put 4 adults in free dining room and 1 adult and 3 kids in the other (just for reservation purposes), you would be paying 4 x 21 x 4= $336 and you would have 16 qs, 32 snacks, and 16 adult TS. You said you have 3 adrs so that would cover all of the adult's meals and you would have 1 left over. 2 kids could maybe split that remaining adult credit and you could pay for any other needed kids meals at table service out of pocket. This may or may not be a better idea depending on which restaurants you have booked (buffets or similar where you have to pay for each person) and the cost of kids meals.

Edited to add that you would still ha r the room discount for the second room in this scenario so the $200ish you would save with that would probably cover the kids meals that aren't covered under the first room's dining plan.

Ok now you are making my head spin!!!!

Was devastated to hear the rumor about mods getting only QSDP so instead of my 9 day relaxing dream vacation we decided to stay at the cabins as planned but cut our trip short and pay the difference to upgrade to TS for 6 days. I researched staying at a delux resort and there is only a slight difference to paying for the upgrade by my DH wants to stay at the cabins. My husband hasn't been any help as he gets grumpy and annoyed every time I try to talk about Disney plans with him :(. I've still got my fingers crossed that the rumor isn't true and we'll get TS included with FD for the cabins as we had in previous years.

What if you took the one room with 1 adult and 3 kids and upgrade all the way to DxDP- then you would have an additional 48 TS with no restrictions as to kids or adults.

Wilderness lodge is closest thing to cabins can walk to the campground and won't have to upgrade dining plan. And as you said the difference in price is negligible.

Anyone else notice that when you search "free dining with vacation package" on google the link we were discussing earlier doesn't show up anymore? or is it just me?

We pulled the kids out of school last year (pre-k and kindergarten) for four or five days to go and the teachers were fine by I got a nasty-gram from the principal about "excessive unexcused absences". I told her to shove it. I'm their mother. If I say it's excused, it's excused. They're not skipping classes in high school.

Edit to add: and our dates for this coming trip are at the end of September, so they'll be missing again. We make wonderful memories on our family trips to Disney. Missing a few days of organized coloring is well worth it.

We took a high school freshman out for a week to go to Disney. Because his school does a lot of work online, he made up all his assignments before he got back to school. A history teacher actually gave him an assignment to complete at Epcot. I guess we are very lucky to live in a small town with schools who can still accommodate family vacations.

So whats your plan for the time leading up to. FD starting at midnight? I will be afraid to sleep between midnight and 6am.I. fall asleep by. 10pm usually.
I might just set two alarms one at midnight and one at 4am.And I still can't access the hangouts chat can someone pls fix it? I dont see any group at all when I go to it just option to start a new discussion.

With that @pooch, you would be looking at $446.96 to upgrade 1 room with 1 adult and 3 kids to DxDP and you'd have the 4 mugs, 32 snacks, and 48 meals credits that could be used for adults or kids at TS or QS.

For the math, I used 17.75 kid upgrade and 58.49 for the adult. So 17.75 x 3 x 4= 53.25. 53.25+ 58.49= 117.74. 117.74 x 4= $446.96.
