Was devastated to hear the rumor about mods getting only QSDP so instead of my 9 day relaxing dream vacation we decided to stay at the cabins as planned but cut our trip short and pay the difference to upgrade to TS for 6 days. I researched staying at a delux resort and there is only a slight difference to paying for the upgrade by my DH wants to stay at the cabins. My husband hasn't been any help as he gets grumpy and annoyed every time I try to talk about Disney plans with him :(. I've still got my fingers crossed that the rumor isn't true and we'll get TS included with FD for the cabins as we had in previous years.

What is your daily upgrade cost? How many Dis adults and Dis kids are you?

Wasn't there a similar concern about the QSDP last year being offered at the Mods in the SA promo instead of the DDP? Seems like I recall something like that . . .

Alright I'm off for tonight. I'm still tweaking my spreadsheet but it is coming along. Adding in the canadian ticket/ CBR discount into it as well in the morning. If anyone else wants the info just PM me.

Haha, this is fun! Which restaurants do you have booked?

NO NOT FUN!!! If I put 4 adults in one room, I increase the room rate probably enough to offset the reduction on the upgrade cost so not worth moving us all around I think.

TS meals I have planned (can't book til next month) are:
Tusker House breakfast
LTT dinner
50's PrimeTime dinner

If we get or upgrade to TS, I will probably add T-Rex dinner as our 4th.

Given those, makes sense to upgrade for an additional $468 yes? If we go room discounts only, we'd save about $400 in discounts and another $510 by dropping the park hoppers. But the 3 TS meals OOP will eat up $750ish of that & we aren't eating the rest of the time on $160 for 8 people.

Does this make sense? What am I missing?

So whats your plan for the time leading up to. FD starting at midnight? I will be afraid to sleep between midnight and 6am.I. fall asleep by. 10pm usually.
I might just set two alarms one at midnight and one at 4am.And I still can't access the hangouts chat can someone pls fix it? I dont see any group at all when I go to it just option to start a new discussion.

I'm not a night owl at all, but I'm hoping to be one for just one night next Sunday. lol I plan to stay up from midnight to whatever time I need to. Problem is...I have to facilitate a full staff meeting on Monday morning. I may be a little sleepy! My co-workers know of my Disney craziness though, so they will understand.

Moderates as quick service? But it is the values that are catered specifically to quick service. The moderate resort restaurants will be even more vacant than usual!! That poor wait staff. Goodbye tips (driven higher by extra money to spend on appetizers and alcohol).

Please don't be true. Please don't be true. Please don't be true...

With that @pooch, you would be looking at $446.96 to upgrade 1 room with 1 adult and 3 kids to DxDP and you'd have the 4 mugs, 32 snacks, and 48 meals credits that could be used for adults or kids at TS or QS.

For the math, I used 17.75 kid upgrade and 58.49 for the adult. So 17.75 x 3 x 4= 53.25. 53.25+ 58.49= 117.74. 117.74 x 4= $446.96.

And now I am spewing pea soup (spinning head-pea soup-tubular bells? Gotta be old to get the reference!). I know my hubby would say I am way over thinking this AND YOU ALL ARE NOT HELPING MY OBSSESSION!!!

OK youre right there are plenty of other jobs getting unnecessary judgment. My point was just that the school may not be out to be jerks-they have to make those calls and inquiries about unexcused absences. They are just doing what they are told to do and it isnt within there control. No one is questioning that you as the parent has your childs best interests at heart-they are just checking the boxes and following the rules rather than intentional unkindness or the sending of "nasty grams". Some of the hard feeling can be taken out of the equation.
As a parent, I went to the school board office and asked for a waiver for my child's absence. They saw it as educational to travel and experience other parts of the country, even WDW. As a teacher, I would tell my students to go and have a good time. We'll catch up when you get back. Of course, some of my coworkers could be unnecessarily difficult. :daisy:

Is it easier to add days to your stay or remove days? We won't have a good idea of exactly when we will be arriving or returning home until flights are opened up for December. Right now, we are thinking Dec 1-10 but it could end up being Dec 2-10 or Dec 2-9. Any advice?

I hope you didn't take any offense to my "this is fun" comment. I totally understand the whirlwind of planning. Sometimes it is fun however for ME to step outside of my own planning and look at someone else's scenario. That's all I meant.

I agree that the room only discounts on both rooms wouldnt be the best way to go. As for the different free dining scenarios, you have to look at how much your party will likely eat. And you are completely correct that I didn't factor in the upcharge of having additional adults in the cost of the room.

Adding free dining and upgrading for both rooms= $468 for 20 adult TS, 12 kid TS, 32 QS, 64 snacks, and 8 mugs

Adding free dining and upgrading to one room with 4 adults= $336+ $120 (I think each add'l adult is $15/nt) so $446 for 16 adult TS, 16 QS, 32 snacks, 4 mugs, and $200ish room discount

Upgrading to DxDP in one room with 1 adult and 3 kids= $446.96+ $120 (add'l charge for adults in other room) so $566.96 for 48 TS or QS meals, 32 snacks, 4 mugs, and $200ish room discount

The second scenario probably makes the least sense. Between the first and the third, it would mostly come down to how much people will probably eat, how willing they will be to share, and if the additional meals, snacks, and mugs in the first scenario will all be utilized or if the $200ish room discount but lesser meals, snacks, and mugs in the third scenario would be a better option.

I have no experience but I would say that it would be easier to drop than add. There is always the possibility of that room type being booked when you try to add days.

I would say it would be easier to remove days. If you try to add at a later date, there may not be availability.

If you keep your start date it's usually not a problem, but if you change that those start dates could potentially be filled at the same resort maybe you could get a different room category but if you just shorten the trip on the departure side you still technically have your room held.

Question....

I think I got some dates that will be a good deal and work for us.

My only concern is flying the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Are the prices of flights usually crazy that weekend?

It is one of the busiest days for the industry so my bet is that you will pay more and it will be hectic. Push it a day or two.
