Hurricane Irma?

It's this^ mob panic mode.

The parks are unlikely to be leveled...If the eye passes over Central Florida there will be spots of moderate/severe damage. On the coast, expect damage similar or worse than that of Harvey. The real wind speed is in the rare "spot" tornadoes. These come down and do local damage and then they are back up in the sky. Much of the danger is from drowning in flooded roadways. Don't go playing in flooded ditches unless you like water moccasins and gators. Once this thing starts to hit, staying put is much safer than getting on the roads. At some point a curfew will be in effect. The storm will come in waves of intensity. In between the bands of the hurricane the soft rain is quite beautiful.
Good advice, thanks. I was thinking about walking around the block just to experience the hurricane, but now I'm thinking I don't want to experience a gator.... I'll stay in

Our flights are Mon-Mon. I'm thinking we'll def be moving our flight. I'm hoping for Wed-Wed, but waiting on Frontier to allow for changes. Are you also thinking that Wed should allow enough time for the airport to reopen?

That is what I am hoping for....the woman that I spoke with at Southwest has been doing the call center for over 24 years. She told me that as long as MCO doesn't have catastrophic damages they usually do a good job of getting up and running. She also said that the day it opens will be a mad house. Fingers crossed I just made a silly decision and this monster goes out to sea, but I am worried that will not be the case.

We're set to arrive at Fort Wilderness sunday with a camper. I really hope they either put the policy in effect soon or the storm passes because a camper is not where I want to be in a hurricane.

If the storm (warning) comes they 'mandatory' evacuate FW - something to consider for a Plan B!! We were there in TS Debbie several years ago and wouldn't leave or we'd been in more of the path. All tents, lots of trailers left. We got constant updates telling us if the sustained winds were 35mph, or more, we would either have to leave, or if that wasn't feasible, they would send us to a hotel and we'd have to park in a lot (of their designation). We were fine - lots of water - but was not something we would have chosen (and that didn't come close to being a hurricane).

Just got off the phone with them (45 minute hold, off at 10:45). CM just told me since there is no NHC warning declared on the mainland, I'm stuck and suggested I wait for a warning to be declared and call back. I told them a mod on the DIS boards said her position was incorrect and she got testy. So my points are now in holding for 2017 use year. Now to see what I can do about the MNSSHP ticket I had for Sunday. A bummer but there are worse things.....
Amazing. Just got off the phone with ticketing. AWESOME CM told me the protocol is in effect and refunded everything. Going to call DVC back and give them that info since they gave me the # for Ticketing. Stay safe everyone!

This may have already been mentioned so I'm sorry if it has.
We are going to Disney 9/18-9/22. We have never experienced a hurricane before and clueless on what to expect the week after it happens (if it does).

Once again, Disney is giving out conflicting information.

Nobody knows. It could be totally fine the days after with minimal damage, could be lots of damage similar to hurricane Andrew (cat 5) in Miami. Chances are, things will be fine by the time you arrive, but just keep an eye on it to see what happens.

My BF and I have a trip planned for my 21st birthday.. flying to orlando 9/8 and flying out 9/12

We are suppose to be staying with family 20 minutes from Disney. But we have a feeling getting to the parks might be a problem.

We have no idea what to do.. rescheduling for us is not an option.

There is a vast difference between being prepared and panicking.

This a huge problem with Disney ~ inconsistent enforcement of policies. Many CM's are saying the hurricane policy is not in effect and then you get the occasional CM who says it is in effect. :sad2:

For those seeing the 180 mph winds that the storm is sporting right now, please understand that the likelihood is that they will be down from that incredible number by the time the storm lands in the US. Storms rarely maintain those kinds of intensity past a couple days, and several factors are likely to weaken the storm by Saturday. THAT being said, even if it is "down" to a Cat 3 by then, it'll still be a whopper of a storm.

Thank you! We will definitely be watching! Hoping everyone stays safe
