Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

That is such an awesome idea...to treat yourself to a solo trip! Do you find you do the parks differently, as a solo guest?

Definitely! We have a special needs daughter and when she is with us our plans and schedule are based 100% on her needs, ability and mood. She is usually pretty flexible, as we have worked very hard on that with her, BUT she can sometimes get overwhelmed in the parks and then meltdown....we have to return to the resort when those moments occur. We can't use Disney buses (too crowded and loud for her sometimes) or Disney's Magical Express. On a solo trip I will take full advantage of Disney's transportation including Magical Express. I can stay in the parks for as long as I want! I can skip Expedition Everest (daughter's FAVORITE but makes me motion sick) and watch the Lion King show twice in a row if I want too. For just a few days, it is all about me. Then I go home refreshed and happily resume my duties as a mother, wife, full-time librarian and caregiver.

I'm currently at Pop, was due to leave next Tuesday but just managed to change my flight out to tomorrow morning (fingers crossed!).

Had been planning/preparing to be here during this weekend - so I have a few litres of bottled water, 12 cans of Diet Pepsi, 12 cans of diet root beer and some clean bottles for putting water in. I hopefully won't need any of that and am happy to give it away if anyone can get it from me tonight at Pop (will have to be late though around 11pm-midnight as I'm planning to be at Epcot for Illuminations). Let me know if you need it!

Eeek. I hope you are able to get out as planned. Make sure you check your flight status before you leave. I've been stuck at a airport for 8 hours because I didn't check. (This was a long time ago, before you could check the internet, or phones, apps, etc.)

Thanks! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and checking my flight status every now and again. As long as I can get to my connecting airport I will be very happy (plenty of options to get home once I get to one of the United hubs). United has let me check in and given me mobile boarding passes now so fingers crossed...

For anyone that loved the ice cream at the Pop food court - Sad news. They got rid of all of it. All they have now is chocolate/vanilla soft serve.

No idea why they did it! Well, I'm sure it was to cut down on the head count. I'm here now. I asked them about it and they had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned how the ice cream used to be just last year. They do still have sundaes, but they're soft serve and way more simple. Just a couple toppings like whipped cream, a cherry, and choice of hot fudge or caramel. All the toppings and flavors of (real) ice cream are gone.

I think you can do online check-in and go straight to your room with MagicBand. But will you get the housekeeping $10 offer without going to front desk?

Yes, I meant to post this last week when we were there. We hadn't been to Pop in a couple years and were so disappointed that they got rid of that whole station. We used to always get hand dipped sundaes there. I know it sounds ridiculous, but that was probably one of the post disappointing parts of our trip.

Ugh... I'm here now and knew they'd moved the desserts around the corner, but didn't realize the ice cream was gone. That was one of my favorites. Pop's food court has really gone downhill over the last couple of years, IMO. (Especially as a vegetarian - my options are literally cheese pizza, bruschetta flatbread, and a vegetable sandwich that I can't eat due to mushroom allergy. I used to have tons of choices.)

Wow This really sucks!! We loved getting the hand dipped sundaes and the different ice cream choices. So disappointed to hear this.

If you don't see a veggie burger on the menu anywhere in Disney, just ask if they have them. My son is a vegetarian and there were many (QS) restaurants that didn't have a veggie burger on their menu display, but when he asked about vegetarian options, they'd tell him how they could modify the displayed menu options and then say..."and we also have veggie burgers".
