Upcoming port/itinerary changes HERE

I am now seriously pondering paying the difference in price and tolerating losing literally one sea day and figuratively another (I don't do Star Wars AT ALL, so that day will keep me pretty much penned in my cabin or possibly the spa - but indoors at any rate - to avoid it) and changing to the Fantasy for my Presidents' Week cruise. I am just not seeing how San Juan and St. Maarten are going to be ready even then.

We are on the 1 Dec sailing out of San Juan. It is heartbreaking and infuriating to see what these people are going through. Recovery is slow, so it's hard to imagine flying in and staying overnight and then travelling to the port in a little over 60 days.
I really feel for you and the cruise that ends in San Juan before yours. I’m getting frustrated with the lack of information and mine isn’t until January. I’m sure everyone’s flights are booked and set to go.

Yes, it's our first cruise on Disney and the kiddos are so excited. We know to avoid hurricane season and always cruise Nov-Jan time frame. Everything is booked. We are counting down and it just isn't looking good. I have no problem making changes, if necessary, but more time is better than less time in those situations.

Just read the following on that page CC is keeping updated with all the port statuses...

"It is reported that all seaports in the St. Thomas/St. John district are open, but not to cruise passengers. A September 26 letter to passengers booked on the October 28 Celebrity Summit sailing states "Due to the success of the recovery efforts in St. Thomas, USVI, we’re happy to announce that we will be adding a visit to this stunning island back to your sailing. We’ve removed the stop in St. Croix, USVI from your sailing...We’ll send you all the details on our updated shore excursion offerings in St. Thomas as soon as they’re finalized."

So I am curious why DCL switched the 11/4 sailing to western.

Disney is extremely conservative with the ports they visit. They pulled out of several Med ports and Greece itineraries several years before when there were economic and political unrest and they couldn't guarantee the safety or the guest experience. They were very conservative with their Mexican ports several years ago when the big cruise lines were still sailing them without hesitation. I would expect (and could be very wrong) that DCL will not be some of the first ships into port-especially if there are any health and safety concerns.

St Croix is now longer a possibility so I understand that when the backup plan becomes the worst option the othe lines hands become more tied.

Not arguing with this, but if Disney is so concerned about safety-how come they are still going to Falmouth?

I have been there twice and OH MY. I won't get off the ship there. And correct if me if I am wrong-but aren't the new western sailings going there?

What about satellite falls?

What happened?

Me? I’m booked on the Wonder doing an Eastern in Feb. with St. Maarten and San Juan as post stops (and obvs Castaway), but contemplating changing to a Western more for planning than anything (don’t want to plan and then find out a couple of weeks before everything is changing).

I’m unclear why my post got quoted...?

Sorry, sometimes my phone does weird things.

No problem!

(I’m now contemplating doing 3-4 nights at WDW (knowing it will be crazy) followed by a 4-night Dream Cruise as an option.)

It's not a bad idea. With the amount saved maybe you can book the Poly? (I think you said you liked it?)

I love the Dream!

I love the Dream!

When I get home from my weight watchers meeting I am going to price it all out with all options. I have never stayed at the Poly, but it is my dream resort! I love AKL also.

It may not be your style but I like to do split stays (I don't unpack & I pack light so I move easily.) and organize My WDW vacation by matching a resort with the day I can find the lowest rate. I saved a lot by doing it this way. I kept Moderate resorts for park days and then booked deluxe stays with the "room only" promo. :)

Yeah, no. I do not want to live out of a suitcase and have to pack up every night and waste park time changing resorts.

I saw pictures of St. Thomas in a Twitter thread last night. Both it and St. John have large stacks of rotting garbage everywhere. One of St. John's shelters, which is full, closes n xt week and most occupants do not have a place to go.

Still quite messy.

More changes into December for Eastern Caribbean cruises. I’m guessing we will hear about the Puerto Rico cruises on the Magic very soon.
