Is the Magic in NYC yet?

Wow, thank so much for the pictures. Do you work in Jersey City? My son lives in the Heights. Just moved there from Hoboken.

I can not wait till next Monday. DH and I just got up graded!! Feeling the Pixie Dust!

That's so funny, I actually work in Hoboken. I was watching it from the pier but it wasn't moving and I had to make it to Lincoln center for a concert tonight so I took the new hoboken to midtown ferry and caught the Magic just in time as it was pulling out and leaving so this this was actually taken from the New York side. I was so happy! It was like seeing a celebrity for me.

Congrats on the upgrade!! That is awesome! Enjoy your cruise! 24 days for us!

Thanks, enjoy your cruise in 24 days!!

My son lived in Hoboken for 5 years, he just graduated from Stevens in May. He now is living in the JC Heights with a brunch of Engineers!

And again, thanks for sharing the beautiful photo of the Magic! It was Magical!

I happened to see a crew member walking in Bar Harbor today, I asked him what Disney ship was in the harbor. He told me it was The Magic. I told him I had cruised on the Fantasy. He said when? I told him March 2013. He said "I was your Captain". That's when I realized I was talking to the Captain of the Magic!

These were taken yesterday from the NJ side of the Hudson - Pier A in Hoboken. It was a beautiful day, and I loved capturing the Magic with the Freedom Tower.
I was not the only one, there was a small crowd of about 15 or so "fans" who snapped away. There was one lady wearing a DCL denim jacket. She was appropriately dressed for the occasion!

We boarded the 5 night Canadian Cruise, just back yesterday. Yes Maria most definitely affected us, night one sailing north was the rockiest experience yet, others in my cruise group agree. We tendered with a couple in Bar Harbor day that have been on 16 cruises and said night one was their second worst night ever. Some people said they heard reports that there were 50 foot swells? Not sure if that's true but our closets were swaying back and forth all night long and at times I felt like I was going to fly out of my bed. Cove Cafe reportedly had broken dishes and apparently Cabanas was crazy and lots of broken things in there as well. We stayed in for breakfast but we got 1 hour of sleep, the entire ship was exhausted the following day. The rest of the cruise was like sailing on glass but night one was everyone's worst nightmare when it comes to rocky boats.

Here are some shots of NYC... kudos to NYC port, they made the drive there super easy, even the Lincoln Tunnel wasn't that bad. I should prob write a trip report, it was our first ever HOTHS, pretty good but there were some things that surprised me in general about the trip in terms of planning and being a newer itinerary for DCL (mainly things that surrounding DCL's planning)

Beautiful shots! Thanks for sharing!

Yikes! So sorry to hear about night 1! I think if that had been our experience on our August trip, my son would never want to go on another cruise. We did a repositioning cruise years ago and the way out of the Bermuda Triangle was dicey. No idea what the swells were but 75% of the boat was sick. Luckily it didn't phase me at the time, but husband was looking a little green.

We're going to Bermuda next so hoping we don't have the same experience but this time we'll medicate before, we did take bonine after lunch on embarkation day and I think it helped us a lot.

BTW for anyone who is interested and are traveling to NYC before/after the cruise, the Disney Store in time square has a lot of cute NY-exclusive merchandise. Worthy of a stop if you like to collect that sort of thing. :)
I knew I shouldn't have listened to my DH! We walked right by and I said we should go in and see if they had any NYC-specific things and he convinced me that they wouldn't have anything different than any other Disney Store...blast him!!!

Oh no, but probably good for his wallet, LOL.
They had really cute things though. I'm not there much since I live and work in NJ so I try to go when I can and they had all these cute tshirts and even tsum tsums dressed like the statue of liberty, mugs, tumblers, all the good stuff :)

Ok, so for the folks who were wondering if there were taxis available when you leave the ship (another thread had a debate that all taxis were across the street) here are pics I took Saturday when I picked up my parents from another cruise. There were TONS of cabs lined up at the mid-level of the terminal (as has been my experience all the time at the port). I told my parents to make sure they told the porter to escort them and the luggage to the mid-level where I was going to pick them up. I am not saying that sometimes people may be directed across the street for one reason or another but the norm is there are taxis waiting on the mid level.

I'd love to read your trip report! Getting to the port, getting home, and all of the parts in between. Sounds like you had a great trip!

Who was the Cruise Director on your cruise? I'm really hoping to see Clayton Friday when we board.
