Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Our trip this week we had a pool view reserved. My touring plans request was a room on floor 3 or 4. We ended up with 2nd floor. The view ended up being gorgeous. The texting when your room is ready stuff was not working. I finally went up to the desk and asked for an estimate and he said oh your rooms been ready didn’t you get a text? o_O He had to go in back and came out about 10 minutes later saying there was an issue with their system but that the room was ready. First of many minor annoying experiences this trip.

There are 4 of us: Myself, DH, DS6, DD4. Its $700 more but its still a lot that's why if we select this reosrt I'm planning on 2 resort days to let my husband sleep in and enjoy resort amenities. AKL does put me over budget so I'm waiting until the end to decide to ensure no unforeseen costs.
Good thinking. AKL is a great resort to just chill at, however, our circumstances are totally different than yours. We are empty nesters so it's just the two of us and we will only stay in a Savanna View because, to us, there is nothing better than sitting on the balcony with room service and an adult beverage in hand while watching the animals. I'm not sure a 4 and 6 yo would agree! But rest assured there will be plenty to entertain them. Just don't take them to the MK first and then expect them to wait patiently at the resort for a few days before you return to the park!

FWIW, I have NEVER gotten a room ready text - either before arrival or after going to the desk to check in and being told I would get one when the room was ready. For me, if I get one it will be a bonus surprise - I am not counting on it.

Here now loving it, although miss the mickey towels on the bed has this stopped now, also our room looking dated are they being refurbished? Staff fab and my elderly mother really enjoying it

Apologizing in advance, I know I've read this, but can't find it. On average, using MDE and landing in the Southwest area at MCO, how much time should I expect it to take from the time I get off my plane until the time the MDE bus delivers me to AKL (we are a fairly mobile family - scheduled to land at 950am).

I won't hold you to it, I promise. I may actually make a lunch reservation for arrival, but I'll allow plenty of extra time.

I would say at least 90 minutes. AKL is the furthest resort, so I am thinking that they will be stopping at many other resorts before heading there. We are getting there tomorrow morning at 6:30am, and I gave myself a 3 hours cushion and booked breakfast at Boma for 9:30am. Last year it took us over an hour to get to POR from the airport via MDE.

IME DME has always dropped me off at AKL last, others have been first, I think it really depends on the driver and which ever way they want to do it. Generally we stop at an assortment of Allstars/Pop/AOA before proceeding to AKL. One particularly memorable ride we stopped at all of the values + CBR + CSR first, that ride took 2 hr.s. Realize that you may sit on the DME bus for awhile as it waits to fill up before pulling out of MCO. Also, how many people get off at each stop and if they didn't check their bags and you have to wait for all their stuff to be removed from under the bus may add time too. Generally I consider 1 hr. from deplaning to AKL's lobby to be an awesome DME experience, 90 minutes to be average and 2 hr.s to be too long :)
If you plan to eat at Sanaa, then a 1ish pm lunch reservation is very doable. If you are planning to reserve some place other than AKL/AKV you need to factor in time waiting for and catching a ride elsewhere after you arrive.
I've had Boma dinner reservations for arrival day 2-3 hr.s after scheduled plane arrival (we typically arrive 4-5ish flying in from the west coast) and I've always arrived in plenty of time.

Thanks, we are staying at Kidani, so would probably do Sanaa, I like the 1pm idea.

It took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get from the plane to walking into AKL. We were supposed to arrive 7:45 pm, but our flight delayed about half hour leaving, so we disembarked around 8:15. The airport was pretty empty by that time, and we got quickly to MDE pickup. However, we had to wait 10 to 20 minutes for a bus. We stopped at either POP or AOA (not sure which), and CSR. It was almost 10pm when we arrived at AKL.

Hi there! I was just looking over the resort activities for this month and am trying to make plans. Does anyone know how long the campfire and s’mores lasts at Jambo House? It looks like it starts at 5:00, but I’m not sure what time it ends. Wondering if we’re back from the parks by 7:00, if this will still be going on. Thanks!

They usually end right before the outdoor movie starts.

Has anyone ever had Flippers Pizza delivered to AKL or Kidani? If so, how was it and do they bring it right to your room? Towards the end of the trip we were going to spend most of the day at the hotel...do laundry and get stuff settled before our last long day at the park. Also just spend some time relaxing by the pool, etc. Was thinking this would be a quick/easy option.

I've never had it but can say that they won't be able to deliver to your room. You'll have to meet them in the lobby.

I just finalized a mother/son trip for Jan 3-9. (I booked it a month ago) Haven’t been to AKL for a few years, but my son has never stayed at this resort before. Since he is in college and is only slightly interested in a few park activities, I figure this is a nice resort to relax at before he heads back to school. I just purchased an AP in October when I was there, so that along with the Visa Discount was a good excuse to plan another trip:)

I arrive right after you for a mother - son trip with my son! Except mine isn't in college, he's 4! :)

This week the campfire s’mores lasted 1 hour, from 6 pm to 7 pm

Yes we have. It was really good. They can't deliver to your room but they'll call you when they are in the lobby.

I've been looking for a printed schedule of activities. Where did you find it and is it current for November? And does anything change after daylight savings this weekend?

Hi everyone! Been lurking here recently. We are headed to AKL in 9 days, staying club level! This is our first AKL stay and we can't wait! I'm daydreaming of room service dinner, club lounge drinks and a balcony! We're looking for suggestions on what to do at AKL on our arrival day. We will be arriving about noon. Appreciate any ideas, oh and it's just DH and I for F&WF!

We arrive in 12 days and can't wait!! We get there around noon as well. I think we are going to head to downtown Disney to beat the evening crowds then hang at the resort. Can't wait to see the suggestions you get!!

I believe that I found it on Kenny the Pirate’s page. It was current and for the entire month. Not sure if any of the times have changed for daylight savings as compared to last month’s activities.
