OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY SEASON & NEW YEAR'S 2017 THREAD

I'm actually flexible on my dates....do you think the next week would be noticeably smaller crowds then? The discount on the hotel isn't quite as low, but if crowds are much more manageable than it may be worth it. Thanks!!
That is what I am hoping. I am not sure when the out of town crowd starts to arrive but there certainly will be less passholders. I wish I could give you better info but this will be my first Christmas visit.

Its hard to predict. The early week will have lots of AP's going for their last Disney Christmas fix before being blacked out. But most of these people will come late in the day. If the hours for both weeks had been 8-12 I would have said definitely go the second week. But with the hours being only 9-9 that second week it makes it a much harder choice.

Are you someone who stays to 12 ? If not then your better going the second week. If you go from park open to close then perhaps the first week as you get an extra 4 hours of fun.

You may also find that Disney novice travellers will look at the pricing of the tickets and think that the lower price (regular price $110) is much better then the peak pricing of the second week ($124 peak price) especially considering they are getting more hours for less cost. This may make a few more pack into the park that earlier week then the second week.

Its a bit of guesswork, but if it was me I would go the second week.

Hey, isn't DH supposed to surprise YOU with such a cool B-Day Present? :rotfl: Sounds like a cool way to spend your 40th - my DW and I spent mine at WDW and Universal Orlando :thumbsup2 We'll be in the park at the same time as you all, see you around the parks!

We are officially two weeks out from our trip - we'll literally be in DLR at this time on the 26th!:banana::banana:party::jumping1:party::banana::banana::banana:

This way I get exactly what I want! Plus, my job circumstances make it impossible for DH to make any plans like this. That's awesome that you celebrated yours the same way! I am going to be watching for that beard! I should have two little girls dressed as Rey and a DH who is constantly kissing Minnie! (He doesn't realize it but he has a thing for her).

Did it last time we were down. We have a great tour and enjoyed the 4 hours we spent with the Guide. Got to ride on 3-4 rides and visited the Dream Suite. They provided lunch, and some gifts after the tour. Also got tickets to see the stage show, and had outstanding seats. I felt the tour was well worth it.

Have an awesome time! And I love that tattoo!

From Mouseplanet.com:

Holiday parade taping this week

The Disneyland portions of the 2017 Disney holiday specials will be taped this Monday and Tuesday, November 13 & 14. Visitors may spot musical performances at locations in both Disneyland and Disney California, including Main Street, in front of "it's a small world," and in Cars Land. The taping includes a special performance of "A Christmas Fantasy Parade" at 11:30 a.m. today, Monday November 13.

I booked the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour today! I'm so excited! Anyone ever do this?

We did it on our first trip in January 2014. Absolutely loved it. I booked it for the main reason of visiting Walt’s apartment as it was always guaranteed then - now they swap it out with the Dream Suite I believe? I wanted to stand in that special place and just take it all in and it was truly onderful. I knew most of the things the guide told us on the tour but she was lovely. It was sweet as another lady got a bit emotional on the tour at the end when the guide was chatting about everything Walt had achieved and they ended up hugging. I would do it again in years to come (hopefully with my future children if they take after me and make Disney their life) to see Walt’s apartment again if it was guaranteed.

I personally wouldn’t do it if it was going to be the Dream Suite as that doesn’t matter to me and if you are already a Disney history buff as you will know everything you are going to be told.

Just looked at the hours that are posted on the Disney website for Christmas day. Both DCA and DL Park have EMH from 7am -8am and then DCA is open from 8am - 10pm and DL Park is open from 8am - midnight. We are going to DL park that day, thought of starting out at DCA and then hopping over to DL Park but now we are just going to stay in DL Park the entire day (don't want to worry about closures and we cannot get in). I am so glad that I made 2 dining reservations for that day (CC for lunch and BB with the Fantasmic dining package). We knew that day will be crazy and since we normally like to head back to the resort for some R&R before heading back for the night time activities, we decided that our R&R will be when we are sitting down and eating and getting away from the crowds and if it takes a while to eat, then so be it :goodvibes. Does anyone have a favorite QS breakfast place in DL Park that they would suggest us going to? I know there isn't too many options for breakfast there and I was thinking of just heading over to Starbucks, but I have a feeling it will be crazy crowded in there too. Another idea was to head over to Jolly Holiday and get some pastries and coffee (DH will probably get a breakfast sandwich). What is everyone's thoughts?

I was checking the hours today too and was glad to see the magic morning on that day. I'm hoping they offer MM everyday that week like I've read they've done before. Our first day is Wednesday the 27th and I want to use MM that day.

When I called last month to ask about the week of Christmas, they said it is Walt's apartment again. I'm hoping that is correct!

AS far as quick service restaurants then yes those two options are about your best choices. But from memory (and I might be wrong) Jolly holiday isn't open before rope drop. So if your going before rope drop then you are limited to starbucks in disneyland. If I am wrong someone else please correct me :)

You can always grab something outside of the park before you enter as well. One option would be la-brea-bakery quick service menu. Its just before the security checkin. I have put the menu link below.

Thank you for your input. I completely forgot about La Brea Bakery (we will be walking right past there each time we go into DL Park (we are staying at GCH). The menu looks really good, the brioche french toast is really calling out my name :goodvibes.

Can I ask a question about our travel documents? They are mailed 3 weeks before and someone needs to be there to sing for them? Do we get a shipping notification?

Yes they are mailed about 3 weeks before and someone over 18 must sign. I get notifications from ups and post office whenever something is being mailed to my address. I can't remember for sure but i think they notify you before it will e delivered.
