Just got home yesterday from our trip to WDW/GF. I had actually won the trip through a sweepstakes sponsored by Latina Magazine and chose to stay at the GF. I was perfectly happy with a standard room at the GF only to find out at check-in that we were upgraded to Club Level! I'm not sure I will ever be able to do Disney any other way. The CMs at the Royal Palm Club were amazing. They felt like family by the end of the week. If I had not been traveling with my 13yo son I would have never left the GF all week. The real world is overrated. I want to live at the Grand Floridian!

What an awesome upgrade! RPC is amazing. Glad you had a great time :wizard:.

Thanks for the update. We're staying GF RPC in a few weeks. Do you know which mornings and evenings the chef was on hand preparing dishes? Wasn't sure if they had a set schedule.

Also, how was the security line getting on the monorail? I read elsewhere that it was pretty backed up.!

We stayed at the RPC last week, arriving Monday and leaving on Friday afternoon. My son had made-to-order Mickey waffles Tues/Wed/Thurs. The waffle "chef' was not there Friday morning. My sister and I were more than happy with the breakfast offerings but ended up getting room service (pancakes/scrambled eggs) for my son on Friday morning because he wanted/needed a BIG breakfast. Us adults were more than happy with the finger food offerings troughout the day. I don't recall ever seeing a chef outside during our evening meals, just the bartender and other CMs.

As for security, we did not have any problems at all. There were never more than one or two families in line, BUT I traveled with a teen and except for our AK day we slept in every day and did not even leave the GF until 10 or 10:30. The park crowds were moderate but I don't know what the security lines looked like if you wanted to rope drop MK or EPCOT.

Thank you so much for the update!! Looking forward to fresh Mickey Waffles!! Hopefully they’ll be there a few mornings for us too.

So happy for you! We had a lovely stay in RPC last month. It's such a relaxing place.

Did your son enjoy all you can eat desserts? Lol

My DH just got back - he used a Keurig there and loved it. Now he wants one.

The Villas have a Keurig?? IF so I have to pack k cups for the GFV and Coffee and filters for the Poly Villas...lol

I need clarification too, please! I thought the DVC villas all had regular coffee pots that take the flat bottom, 10-12 cup filters, and we routinely bring those as well as our favorite coffee. We'll be checking in to a VGF 1 bedroom in less than a month and need to know what to pack!

We were in a 2 bedroom villa this past December and it was a traditional coffee maker. We ordered extra filters with our garden grocer order.

Hi All. Currently have copper creek villas booked but have a chance to go grand floridan villas for slightly more.

Is it as beautiful as it looks? Does it feel “ Disney “ at all?

Is the standard view nice?
Just had our first stay at VGF in December. I can say that it is absolutely as beautiful as it looks, and to me it IS "Disney". Our last morning before Magical Express was coming to take us away (noooo!!!), we were sitting at one of the outside tables at Gaspy's enjoying breakfast (quiche! yum!), just gazing at Cinderella Castle. It doesn't get more Disney than that to me.

As for the standard view, I'm sure it depends. We were 6th floor (forgive me, I cannot remember the room number right now) and our view was great and included the main building, a little of the beach/pool area, and the monorail.

I felt like the location of the VGF building was ideal, and it was always calm and quiet there. The lobby, while certainly not the same as the main one, is very lovely in its own right, and I adore the fountain with the penguins (from Mary Poppins).

I read somewhere that the MK area resorts are meant to reflect various parts of the MK. Poly is Adventureland, Contemporary is Tomorrowland, Wilderness Lodge is Frontierland, and the Grand Floridian is Main Street USA. It does have that same feeling to it to me. Just...a really special place that makes you happy. :)
