I love credit cards so much!

Chase is fantastic about disputed charges. I've never had them challenge me, and they always reverse the charge.

Thanks! Certainly not something I want to, or plan to, make a habit of, and it's a small charge ($34) so hopefully it won't be a problem.

Cantbypu transfer from csp to csr and then to her rr since it works?

No, DH is the AU on my CSR ($75 fee for AU). I have no problems transferring UR from my CSR to his RR account. That's one of the big reasons for me adding him on as an AU to that card.

DD is the AU on my CSP. There is no option to transfer to her RR account. I've reached out to Chase Support on Twitter, and they are escalating it to someone higher.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

So if I have pre-qualified Cap 1 Venture offer, is that a good sign for getting approved?

I received a pre-qualified offer in the mail, and was declined (credit score 800+). Unfortunately, this sounds like the norm for them!

Anyone have experience with disputing a charge on CSP (or I guess any card) with Chase? I've never disputed a charge with any card before and just didn't know if there was anything I needed to know/if I was wasting my time.

Side note: Never order anything from Wen by Chaz Dean!!

I just disputed something a few days ago. They reversed the charge and are investigating it. It was painless to do on the website.
Mine was an order for moviepass that got sent to the wrong email address and no one at the company will respond to me to get it re-sent to the correct email.

I just disputed fraudulent PayPal charges on my SW Visa. When I called they immediately put me through to the fraud department. Less than 5 minutes on the phone and they were issuing me a new card w/ a new acct # overnight and removed the charges.

I just got off the phone with a Chase Account Supervisor, who explained to me that my UR points are considered a "pool" of points and as such I can only transfer to ONE AU on the accounts even though my CSR and CSP are separate accounts and I have separate AUs on each account (DH on CSR, DD on CSP). She is escalating a request to treat the accounts as separate "pools" of UR points so that I can transfer to both DH and DD from the respective accounts that they are AU on. I'm supposed to get something in writing in 7-10 business days.

This is just something to be aware of, especially for those who are double-dipping CSR+CSP applications.

Even though I have a SW CP, DD is going to travel without me for summer camp and she needs those points in her account, and I would much rather book with points than pay in cash/gift cards!

Why does she need the points in her account? You can purchase a ticket for anyone on points with SW. You can transfer them to your SW RR account and purchase the ticket in her name with your points. I just did this last night for a ticket for DH to Cancun using the points in my SW RR account.

CIP and book through ur portal. We did cabana bay (loved!) last summer booked with ur points.

Sounds like a good time to convince your husband to get a CSR. Or double dip with the CSP also if possible. We almost booked through the UR portal when we last went, but we ended up upgrading our tickets to annual passes. It made the hotel much cheaper, cheaper than going 1.5 through the CSR portal. We just upgraded to the seasonal pass, not sure of your dates, but if you can use a seasonal pass, upgrade at least one of your tickets. It only added $10 to our 3 day ticket at the time we did it. Not sure of pricing now. But we did just get the CSR and the hotel used up our $300 travel credit.

I used SW points to book Hard Rock hotel a few years back... it was a blast!

Thanks, I'm still debating which card to ask him to get, to go down the CSR/CSP route or the SW Biz/Plus card to get the CP and hoard SW points to try to combine with my CP and points to try for Hawaii in 2019. Not quite ready for him to do either since I have a min spending I'm working on, or at least will be whenever my SW Premier card shows up!

I used an Orbitz coupon code once to get 20% off. We spent the night before at CB and then taxied over in the morning to RPR to save us some more.
Thanks, I'll check Orbitz!

Sometimes, it is cheaper to purchase one annual pass and use that discount for your hotel stay(you don't need the annual pass beforehand, just when you arrive.) We stayed at RPR in Dec on UR points for 2 nights. We've stayed at all 3 and they are all terrific. We have not stayed at CBR or SFR since DS loves having the express pass.
Thanks for this idea, this is definitely worth checking out! I love the Express pass too, that's the main reason I'd like to stay at RP. We stayed one night before and it was really nice, although it was freezing cold and we didn't get to use the pool! I looked at the AP and since our trip is in June, it seems like I could get the cheapest AP - the Seasonal pass, which I believe is only $30 more than the 2 day park-to-park ticket. I also called to see what the room discount would be but the discounts weren't available for June yet, the latest they had was March. I'll keep checking on this though. It looks like I could also get a discount on my family's tickets if I got the annual pass. If so that would help save even more. I'd really like stay two nights to get to enjoy the hotel and have a more relaxing time at UO, we've only done one day before and always feel rushed. I know we could just stay one night to get the EP, but then it feels like you're barely in the room at all.

Another discount is through a thing called Daily getaways. They offer a different travel deal every day for 3 or 4 weeks. I think it's in April.

The last few years (apparently... I only found it last year) they've had a certificate for certain Loews hotels, which includes Royal Pacific, to get two nights for $325. After purchasing I received an email with a form to fill out about when I wanted to stay, and emailed it back. Heard back in about a day that I got my reservation for a Fri-Sat in September. If we hadn't been lugging wedding clothes and 6 bags, I would have done as @gottalovepluto did and stayed somewhere cheaper the first night then gone to check in to RPR in the morning, because your Express Pass is valid all of your checkin/checkout days. Instead we just bit the bullet and paid ~$280 for Thurs night.

They only have so many of each deal each day, though, so you have to be logged on right when they go on sale as it's pretty competitive.

I think I used Daily Getaways to get SeaWorld tickets at an awesome price! I think we were on Spring Break on a Royal Caribbean cruise and I sent a reminder for myself to make sure I ordered them.

I googled and I think I found the right site. I emailed them to ask to be added to their list, but it said the 2018 discounts aren't out yet. Thanks for the heads up on this! I also am looking for Legoland discounts so maybe if they don't have Universal they might have Legoland.

You could look into the Capital One Venture card. You will earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 in 3 months. Since you will also earn 2x for all your charges, you will have a total of $560 to use as a statement credit against your hotel charges. I did this when I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel to wipe away one night's stay (yep, it's THAT expensive, especially in July!). Good luck!

@magickingdomprincess be aware Cap1 will pull all 3 bureaus and most people who apply for this card are denied. No idea why, the DPs are all over the place, but a few people manage to get it (like @Angrose I'm jealous!). I was one of the many who had all 3 pulled and was denied. I'm not saying don't apply I'm just saying FYI.

Thanks for the info on the Cap One Venture card. That's so strange that they seem to deny so many people! Isn't that the card Jennifer Garner advertises like all the time? Why advertise so much if you don't want people to get the card?!? Not sure if I want to risk it then, although it does sound like a great deal. Thanks for the info!

I second this comment of @Alexle2007 - you can use your RR points to book a ticket for anybody at all (related or not). Some people don't realize that this is possible - you don't have to be traveling on the same flight or anything in that instance. However, if you were trying to use up some points that your daughter already had in her account for some reason perhaps I understand what you're trying to do. At any rate - if you have enough points in your RR account or your husband's RR account you could easily use those points to book the ticket.

Good Luck @platamama - hope you get things resolved to a suitable result.

You're right! But I was thinking that since she already has RR points (but not enough for her flights) that I would top off her RR account so that the flight would come out of her account and then I wouldn't need to use as many. She would have enough if I transferred 6,000 UR points vs me "paying" 20,000 RR points.

Yes, exactly. You can book a ticket on points from your own account for anyone you want. I have done it many times.

Haha - I was just responding (see above) to your comment wondering if this might be why you were trying to transfer points to her. LOL!

Could you use her points to pay for one part of the flight and your points for the return? Southwest prices everything separately so there's no advantage to buying a round-trip ticket compared to two one-way tickets.

So strange, I applied and got the card last May and then my DH got the card in October. We both have mid-700 credit scores but we have a fairly decent income. There seems to be no rhyme or reason with them!

Update on Chase Freedom "10x" at Best Buy, just Freedom according to DoC and it looks like the 10x is a misleading mess. Here's DoC's take, READ BEFORE YOU GO TO BEST BUY: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-pay-10x-10-points-best-buy-400-new-offer/

Sounds like previous Chase Pay promotions offering "up to 10x UR": 10x UR when combined with Freedom's 5x UR category for mobile payments, or only 6x UR after you've maxed out the $1,500 limit on the bonus category.

I went to two Best Buys, one during lunch and one just now, and associates at both stores didn't know anything about VGCs. The one I went to during lunch is where I bought VGCs just before Christmas! If I can't find a store that sells VGCs, I guess I'll max out this promo on Disney GCs.

Another similar option would be the Barclay Arrival+. Same deal except for their sign up bonus is only $400 right now, but still 2x points on all purchases so you would have $460 to apply towards a statement credit for the hotel charges.

heh, id say a good 90% of Asian airlines's business class has lie flat seats. haha. UA actually has lie flat seats too, Polaris class looks super nice, but i thought it was kinda lame that its in 2-2-2 configuration... :\ My friend is flying Asiana for 180k instead of flying ANA for 120k. ANA > Asiana by a long shot!

the same friend refuses to fly CX now. She claims that its been in a decline since their glory days. Ive watched a bunch of videos on CX and soft product has really taken a big tank. My friend said her Y class seat was very uncomfortable. I think she said Air Canada had better Y class seats than them. CX imo is only good for F class, maybe J class. Not sure about availability via AS since i think thats the best way to go.

I usually tell people its best to buy to Japan with cash, its like $500 RT. but you and DH being "seat princess" UR--> Virgin Atlantic to redeem J class has always been the best way to go according to all post ive read. its like at max 120k points. you wont find anything lower than that. ANA/JAL would most likely be close to your SQ experience that you will be taking soon. heard their Ramen on board is the bomb!

Oh man, that's disappointing to hear. We are planning to fly F class on anything new. So if it winds up being CX, then F class it is. I figure we'll do J class when we've already experienced F on a particular airline or when it's a spur of the moment trip and there is no F to be had. We just started collecting AS so I won't have enough in that program to do anything awesome just yet. Then again, I can always transfer SPG points to AS. ANA wasn't on my radar so I will look into that as well. Maybe CX there and ANA back. Going to go watch airline videos. Thanks for the feedback!

I figured I'd max out the Freedom Q1 category all at Best Buy with Chase Pay and not have to math. I was so glad they had the load up to $500 Disney GCs. The thought of combining thirty $50 Disney GCs tonight was making me :faint:

The Best Buy nearest me doesn't even have Disney GCs! I haven't looked for VGCs but had some credit and stood there looking at GCs for 10 minutes because most of it is fast food or chain restaurants. I think I ended up with Starbucks.

They're getting difficult to find. It seems that stores are phasing them out. One store I visit had some at customer service a few months ago, but no more. Another store had a few at the registers. I had to ask three employees before they found them. I've about given up on VGCs at this point. I imagine we'll get gas cards again and maybe a Regal card.

Edited: Groupon has a free voucher for 25cents/gallon off at Shell up to 20 gallons (can use twice). Figured I'd buy a few $50 Shell cards at BB and stack with that.

I booked our flights to CA for this summer today, all paid for with UR points! We're flying JFK->LAX on July 3rd and doing Disneyland the 4th-6th (I know, we're probably crazy but those are the dates that work best). Then we're driving down to San Diego on the 7th and staying with friends there, flying home from SAN on the 10th. I spent 93.2K UR points on Jet Blue flights that would've cost me ~$1400 cash for 4 tickets. I looked into American (using BA miles transferred from UR) but I was too late to get Saver awards so I'd have needed to use a lot more points. And we really like Jet Blue anyway.

Here is a question for all of you miles-savvy people: What is the best way to fly from the US to London using miles, without paying high taxes/fees? I know I've read that the taxes/fees on BA award tickets from the US are very high. We are thinking about taking the kids to London in summer 2019 so I'd like to start working on getting the right points/miles for that now.
