I love credit cards so much!

Yes, it looks like I was looking at Mousesavers rates. I found the Universal forums to be hit or miss when it comes to information. Most people on there are asking questions because they have never been, and it is almost as if the people that are in the know don't always like to share the information maybe they don't want too many Disney people changing over to the dark side. lol Here is a thread I made after our trip when I upgraded the tickets. I made the post because I had such a hard time finding the information to begin with. Our plan was to upgrade 1 ticket, when I saw how cheap it was, we upgraded all 5. Figured for $10 each if we didn't use again, not that big of a deal, and if we did, then great, tickets taken care of. We did end up going again, thanks to SW points and CP, the flights were free, but did pay out of pocket for 3 nights at PBH, and that is not budget, even with AP rates so that $50 did end up costing a lot! But we enjoyed it!

Thanks for the thread link, it was very useful! I was wondering how it worked with getting the hotel ap discount without actually having the ap. I feel like I have a game plan now if we decide to add Universal on to our June trip that I still need to convince DH we should take! ;)

This is mostly an individual endeavor. I have not spoken to my DH about it, because he would most likely freak out. I can probably get a card or two in his name, but I will be responsible for the spend. I just sent him out SPECIFICALLY to put a small spend on our US Bank Visa just to keep activity on it and he managed to use the WRONG card! LOL! During the Economic Crash we had a few cards closed by the issuers due to lack of use.

Thanks in advance for the help. You all are so friendly and helpful here!
This is the best place for CC questions I think :) I just wanted to weigh in on working with your DH.

My DH was super freaked out by this idea. I was trying to estimate our honeymoon cost, and had figured that 15-16 nights in a DVC rental (BWV standard studio, which at the time I didn't realize would be a miracle to get during F&W) plus flights and tickets (DW & USO) would be the majority of our budget. I started looking for ways to cut costs and stumbled on this stuff. We had all of this cash saved up for the wedding, so I thought, we can earn points to help cut costs!

I read for several months before I outlined my plan to DH. We started with the AMEX SPG cards and earned 6 free nights at the Dolphin. We also got the Disney cards for the $200 GCs (and referred several family members, because we got married in Orlando). It went so well and just like that we saved $1000 on hotels and had $400 in GCs, so that helped him a lot. I handle all the details and just tell him what cards to use, or sit with him to fill out an application when we open one in his name. I could just do that myself, but I don't ever remember his SSN. He's willing to use what cards I tell him to, but I have to label them so he knows which ones to use where. He spends quite a bit on gas and had a card that gets 3% back, so I got him to start using that. The other day he said, Wow, the points add up fast when you use the right card for what you're buying! :rotfl:

Here is my fancy label job

I found a deal on a USO hotel for 3 nights. We ended up with 7 free nights at the Dolphin, though I could have stretched that to 10... Your 5th night on points is free, so enough points for 8 nights = 10 nights. But I had already paid for my DVC rental and it was non-refundable. 5 nights at BLT, and 1 in Cocoa Beach. We spent just over $1000 on hotels for 15 nights.

For those that submitted earlier and maybe didn't see my 2 player comment (@disneymagicgirl, @amalone1013, any others?) if you know of any cards that you specifically missed because only your player 2 has or had them please let me know and I can try to add that to the data.
Player 2 had a BoA card (one of the 3%/2%/1% ones), Barclay Arrival Plus, and Capital One Venture.

I received some wonderful DLR hotel recs from many members here and I cannot find the post again, now that I am wanting to read back through :( I haven't booked anything yet. Unlike when I used UR for WDW this past Sept, so many of the hotels that I find on UR do not have refundable rates (would have booked that waterpark Marriott by now if it did!).The Hyatts are coming up high, imo, on UR. So, I looked on Hyatt's site to see if there was rooms with award availability but nothing comes up?? Maybe I am doing it wrong...Wouldn't surprise me...Same for the IHG properties though the Indigo did have reward rooms recently.

Honestly, there are so many great choices around DLR and lots of options for redeeming points. I only have IHG and UR to use. I will have SPG in a few months but not many and I'd like to save those for the Swolphin :)

What are your DLR dates? I can't believe how many of us seem to be targeting the same timeframe. Hmm, sign it might be really busy??
My beloved Alpine Inn is not coming up on UR, Hotels.com, anything like that for our dates in April :( I think they are just holding out on releasing rooms to third party places, because in the past I've see them as dates got closer.

I'm trying to debate what to do. We have SPG points but I thought when I looked before that Sheraton was 7k points, but it's coming up 10k now... maybe I'm just remembering wrong. But when I think 10k there vs 10k at the Dolphin, I definitely have a preference on where to use them :) We've got just over $300 on an Arrival Plus card we could redeem. Could use UR points, though I haven't explored that too much.

I'm also struggling trying to decide which points to use where, since we now are planning to go to Vegas in April too.

I've been having to drag my butt in to work at 3am the last few weeks, so I'm seeing people I don't always see often (My workplace runs 3 shifts). Months ago one guy saw me using my CSR at the vending machine (triple points! haha) and was asking me about it.

This morning I go into the break room to get my coffee and this guy waves me over. He's telling a coworker about his AMEX platinum and how he should get a travel card to earn points on his everyday spending, and wants me to give the guy the rundown on the CSR, and also answer his own questions about it.

Maybe not churners, but it put a smile on my face to see someone earning good rewards for their spending and understanding that benefits outweigh that high AF sometimes.

I am literally shocked at how few people have cards with AMEX and other issuers
I only listed my Chase Cards. I have an AMEX but, it's one of the original Blue cards. It collects MR points at 1x but, it is not available any longer. I need to start ramping up my cards but, can't start that yet.

I wanted to update everyone on my Chase Freedom Best Buy experience. I had time on Tuesday to head to BB after reading about the promotion on DOC and here. On Wednesday, I got an email from Chase about the promotion...but only up to $300 purchase :( I can confirm this morning that I got a total of 3500 points on my $400 purchase( Disney Gift Card). Bummed that I didn't get the full offer.

I just got the same offer email. Thanks for posting your experience. I don't have any GCs I "need" to get from Best Buy so I won't do anything over the $300.

I'm sure we could do more than 3 days at DLR, but I can only take a week off work and we want time for San Diego too. With our friends living there now, I'm sure this won't be our last trip to So Cal.
Thanks for the tip on the rental car from Downtown Disney. I don't have a Costco membership but I'll look into that location.

Yes, I remember we were at WDW around the same time too! We were there 8/27-9/3 last year. :)

Thank you both for these links! Very helpful. I will have to play around with it and see what the cash prices are for summer on the different airlines. Unfortunately we have to travel in July & August because of the kids' school schedule, which is probably all peak pricing for award flights. And we'd need a lot of miles for 4 round-trip tickets, even in regular economy. It may make more sense to just pay for the flights with UR points through the CSR.

Yes, I noticed that. I'm leaning towards the Hotel Indigo on W. Katella, which has free parking, but I'm waiting to book until I get the rest of the points I need from the IHG Accelerate bonus this quarter. Hopefully they don't sell out of reward nights before then.
I stayed there last year for a DL trip...I loved it!

You need to transfer UR points to Hyatt, The Hyatts by DL are 12,000 Hyatt points.

Thanks to the 32 people who have already completed our new DISchurners Survey.

If you missed my post earlier today - here is a link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/F3HVYDH Have at it! Hopefully you enjoy a trip down memory lane with all of your cards! I've attempted to include every popular card that is available but at the end there is a comment section in the event I missed an important card.

FYI: If you are in 2 player mode - answer the questions combined between both players.

Done! This survey definitely showed me I should probably broaden my horizons with different issuers. However, I'm fairly new at this and still trying to get some other Chase cards we'd really like to have. Both DH and I have the CSR already and the Sapphire rule definitely put a wrench in our plan to each get the CSP as well. I'm still working out how we will go about our next few cards. Most of the ones we have are definitely Chase though. LOL

I finally fell under 5/24 so I just applied for the CIP. I was applying with eBay sales (I listed $400), and I was nervous about applying and the potential for having to call on a business card recon. I was instantly approved! I never expected that in a million years!

Thanks all for the continued guidance here - I am so grateful for this community and how willing everyone is to take time to help others out - that's a pretty rare thing online. There are a lot of gems here!

Congrats on your CIP approval!! I know how I felt when I found out I was approved on the status line, so I can imagine the happiness/relief feeling to get the instant approval online!

Thanks for the head's up. I won't bother with more than $300.

wait...I missed this (this thread moves so fast) whats happening at BB? The offer is for up to $300,not $400 as the article stated? I'm trying to wait and see DP's before I rush into this one like I did the Shoprite one....

so I did the survey.... but getting cards in too many programs is something I've been avoiding, b/c I want things that are compatible with use,so if I get a card with a different points reward system it'll be less valuable than the ones I can combine..... yes? no?

Interesting development...I just got another email from Chase giving me 10 x points on CSR up to $300?!?! I'm willing to be the DP and go to BB today using CSR! We've got a cruise and WDW coming up next month :)
