I love credit cards so much!

Speaking of business credit cards and it being a “business” anyone have trouble using the card to make payments to health insurance companies? I know the charge will go through but I am wondering if using it has seemed to hold up a bonus posting once the minimum spend is met. I.e. I just got a bill today for an ER visit in July. I don’t want to use my FSA account because they probably will deny it since it was last year. I’d like to put it on the Amex business card but I don’t want to trigger any type of review.

@mhartman09 so sorry you have been sick. The flu is super scary this year!

IDK but this is a concern of mine too. We have a lot of medical bills and I've put quite a few on my Amex. I'm still working through the MSR so I am not sure if it's gonna be an issue or not. I think I'll finish off one of my cards this next week and hopefully, I don't have the experience you had in getting my points to post!

Still catching up on tons of posts after being away from the Dis for about a week. DH and I flew out for a reamolly fun first trip to Vegas last Friday. We returned on Tuesday and I headed to urgent care to address what I thought was a sinus infection and possibly respiratory infection. However, to my surprise, I tested positive for the flu. It definitely kicked my butt and I'm just now getting to where I can get out of bed for more than a few hours

Flu is bad, especially this year. Take care of yourself.

I started with a fever yesterday and this morning felt so bad, I thought it was flu. I'm feeling better now, though still have a fever, so I doubt it's flu. When I had the flu a few years ago, I missed a week of work, and I had the flu shot.

Well, I did it. Instant approval! I'm still kind of scared of getting caught, lol.
Oh all of us here caught you red handed! :)

You must be somewhere near our area. We are actually about evenly split between the Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans airports.
Hope you feel better soon!

Good to now they do that but I've been to Hawaii three times already so it's not on my list of places to go. Too many other things I haven't done I want to do. I'm also not a sit on the beach/by the pool and relax kind of person. I don't need to go, go, go on vacation but I like to have stuff to do.

you might have an issue with Amex cards though... the 2 health insurance companies i have had dont take amex. :P
other than that, companies dont care what charges you put on your card. I know chase tried to scare us with "business" related charges only but to be honest, you can twist anything around to say its business related. The one thing to watch out for is things that have insurance backing on. for example, if your gonna use a business card on a trip, it needs to be an actual business trip for it to qualify for those insurances. for price protection, i forgot but i recall is doesnt have the came protection as a personal card does.

Amex/Chase triggering shutdowns are most likely from abnormal high charges(like 10k+ or more). I think Amex has a thing where you can tell amex your spending Blah amount and it if will have issues with it or not. Hope that helps.

hope u got some good meds... i had chills one night, found out i caught the flu, doc gave some kind of shot, had me pick up tamaflu. slept 16 hours... i was feeling great afterwards!

Surprisingly, our ortho/dentist/oral surgeon (all one practice) take Amex and we have Children's Hospital medical bills and Kaiser medical bills and they both take Amex also. The only medical expense we've not been able to put on Amex is our optometrist. It's good to hear paying these bills with Amex isn't gonna get the RAT people on us.

Can’t speak for Amex as I don’t have any of those yet. But chase I know hasn’t questioned any of the charges.

I am only $700 away from 2 SPG Biz minimum spends too, so I hear that!
And with the new puppy and two other dogs, one with nasty allergies and bad teeth and the other doing agility, our pet costs are crazy too. Oh yeah I have a 20 year old cat too, always forget about her and her costs LOL
yeah.... pets. this last trip has my DH reading the pet insurance brochure from the vets office.....:teacher:

Best Buy Deal from CashStar is back.

https://bestbuy.cashstar.com/gift-card/buy/
https://bestbuy-m.cashstar.com/buy/

Buy $150 in Best Buy e-Gift Cards, Get a $15 Savings Code (or buy one $450 e-Gift Card for three $15 Savings Codes)
  • Valid 2/18/18 – 3/3/18 online only.
  • $15 savings code will be provided via e-mail on 3/18/18 for use toward a future purchase made from 3/18/18 – 3/31/18.
  • Maximum of 3 $150 e-gift card purchases during promotion time period per customer and savings codes will be sent via e-mail in $15 increments.
  • Valid e-mail address required to receive savings code.
  • Savings code may be redeemed online and in store.
  • The value of the savings code will not be refunded if merchandise is returned or an order is cancelled.
ETA: Most recent data points say you can still use Best Buy gift cards, savings codes, and reward certificates in store to purchase third-party gift cards like Disney. A cashier at my local store told me that policy would be changing in February, but so far no changes (or any word of changes when asked) from all your reporting.

Your best bet is to redeem these in store. Best Buy's in store POS system accepts its gift cards as a form of payment for third-party gift cards like Disney, but not open loop gift cards like Visa prepaid gift cards. Some stores, cashiers or managers may give you trouble and claim it's not allowed at all (even though it's fine for Disney) so YMMV.

A lot people have problems using Best Buy gift cards to order third-party gift cards online, as those orders tend to get cancelled automatically because the site will say it can't verify your information for whatever reason.

Most Best Buy stores sell Disney gift cards in fixed $25 and $50 denominations and a variable load card that you can put any amount on from $25-500. Remember to use either Shopkick or Ibotta when you check out for additional points back towards more free gift cards.

Promotional savings codes look and act just like gift cards, but promo codes expire and gift cards don't. So be aware of the expiration date since it looks like the promo code will arrive via email about 2 weeks after the promotion ends.

If you have a Chase Ink Business Preferred credit card ("CIP"), use it to earn 3x UR points because these gift cards are processed through CashStar, which seems to code as internet services or utilities. Chase Ink+ and Ink Cash credit cards should earn 5x UR, but I don't have any personal data points.

One more thing, when buying the Best Buy e-Gift cards through CashStar, there should be a field where you can enter your My Best Buy membership number and earn points towards reward certificates. If you’re a regular member, you get 0.5 point/$1 spent and 250 points gets you $5 reward certificate (or 1% reward); Elite members get 1 point/$1 spent (2% reward); Elite Plus members earn 1.25 points/$1 spent (2.5% reward). Reward certificates can be redeemed towards Disney Gift Cards (or almost any other item or third-party gift card Best Buy sells except for prepaid gift cards).

Fantastic explanation! I’m wondering if I can stack this with the swagbucks weekly offers for $5 off $50 plus 2% back. If so that’s another $18 or so off.

Would love to see data points on the possible 5x for Ink Cash if anyone has them.

So for portal cash back purposes, is the purchase from Best Buy or Cashstar? If Cashstar, I don't see any portal cash back available for that. I've never done this particular promo before though. Is anyone able to get portal cash back???

I was thinking you could buy the gift cards from cash Star then use the swagbucks qr in store when using the gift cards to buy Disney gift cards. I did a test today (bought a $50 Disney gift card with a $10 gift card and $40 on my CIP) so hopefully I’ll know in a few days.

Got it (I was thinking you meant on the initial gc purchase). I haven't done that in store before, but had made a mental note to figure that out before my next BB purchase. You used Ibotta last time, right?

Do you think someone would still accept these? :P

Metal cards: 2
Shredder: 0

First time we've had to destroy the metal cards, it all sounded good as we were shredding until we dumped the bin and found these.
What's been the most effective suggestion for destroying these guys? I don't care about the Amazon one as that was somehow stolen already so that's old info, but I think I can read every number on the Marriott card still.

Called the automated line this morning and got the dreaded 7-10 days on my CIP application. So frustrating. I have a real business (rental). Got denied earlier this year too and had unsuccessful recon then. I think I'll wait until I get the official no before I call.

You’d SM Chase to send you an envelope to mail your metal card back to them for destruction.
