NEWS 5/17: Late 2019 itineraries released - link in post #1 (2020 watch thread will start soon)

True. Personally I'd rather let them be on hold as Dug720 said if I'm going to transfer later anyway.

Costco really does do it that way... if I ever use them I'll just transfer within 30 days as cruiser21 said.[/Q
If I want a quote I just wait until 5 pm est and I get right through.

Got the recording first two attempts at 8 ET. Got in at 8:04, 1hr, 45 minutes on hold. Successful booking 8N Carib on Fantasy. Pricing posted on pricing thread.

I was hoping to see a quote for the August 18 Northern Europe cruise, but there hasn't been any here. I guess that means we will mght get our choice of rooms. :)

On a different note, I am pleased with the changes to the 9 night Alaska. Hubbard is far more impressive than Tracy/Endicott Arm so the inclusion of Victoria and Sitka is a welcome one in my opinion.

I am disappointed by the lack of diversity in the European ports, specifically the Mediterranean. I would love it if they would go back to the Greek Isles but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Yes same here. I'm doing the Rome to Barcelona 7-night next year... I hope they eventually do Greece as my family hasn't been there!:sad2:

I was looking at the Greece Adventures by Disney.. if they are still doing that, I wonder why they won't cruise there...

I think the Eastern Med security issue is more about Turkey than Greece. And it is a easier to cancel an ABD Trip than to deal with rescheduling a whole cruise ship.

I also think that Northern Europe is easier to sell for some reason than Greece.

These are all excellent points! Plus dealing with the negative press from a cancelled ABD is easier since there are far fewer people on them.

We did the Greece and Turkey cruise the first year it was offered. Have been crossing my fingers for more! I really want them to bring back a cruise in Venice.

I'm doing Greece on RCCL's Jewel of the Seas this summer and will report back.

That was his argument as well - Grand Canyon just has "looking" while Alaska has "doing." Granted, I was planning a bunch of "doing" for Grand Canyon, but we'll get there. The glaciers are melting; the Grand Canyon isn't.
What a coincidence. We have a Grand Canyon trip this summer and hoping for Alaska cruise 2019

Totally understand the issue with Eastern Med being about Turkey but I was trying to figure out why they cut the Greek Isles as well. Is it just a proximity thing?

I would think Northern Europe is an easier sell until most people complete those itineraries and want something new.

Could be berth bidding and availability.

Or it could be the whole refugee camps “thing”. Some people “don’t want to be exposed to that” on their vacations. (I have even seen complaints where ships (not necessarily DCL, though I think the Magic has helped with a rescue in the Med before) picked up refugee “boats” - which they are required to assist.) Other lines are still going to Greece, but maybe Disney got enough blowback they decided to cut it?

anyone else on hold? hoping I've selected the right options for transatlantic as none seemed to apply!

Yes, got on right at 8 and after punching in info, it advised a 30 minute hold! Can't even get through on a second phone. ;O)

I may need an EKG machine close by but fortunately this board has helped prepare me somewhat. It's one thing to read it but pulling the trigger on the pricing is another thing! :O)

Not sure if your use of "thing" was supposed to be a dig at my question. Regardless, I definitely understand where that is a possible reason. Disney has to keep the image of things being magical and showing people the reality of the world while they are on vacation likely does tend to shatter the image they are trying to present. That being said, I know the Wonder and the Fantasy have both picked up Cuban refugees so if that really was the source of blowback I would think they are taking that risk every time they do a Caribbean cruise.

Edit: When I mention risk, I mean the risk of blowback. Even if it wasn't law it would be inhuman to not help people in need.
