I love credit cards so much!

im pretty sure the conversion will stay the same. if not, you should have the chance to transfer to another airline. If they do this, im 2000% sure SPG loyalist will switch to Hilton.

Yes, but another airline isn't going to get me to Africa since I need to use United for that given where most of my miles and points currency is currently. But Alaska could be a good option if I can do Africa without these points. Wanted to have the option in my back pocket though.

I went to move UR points from my CIP to CSR and get the following message "This card is not eligible to receive points from you at this time." Anyone know what this means? I have moved points from my wife's CSR to the same card before and it worked just fine.

I found a post on /r/churning that if the receiving card is linked to another card it wont work. I'll try removing it from my wife's card and try tomorrow.

OMG!!! I thought it was just the United card which I read about this morning. Now it’s all of them??!!

Hah! I didn't know they had it! I guess I was so used to it being removed from my other cards I didn't even notice it was available.

Sadly, I only really started taking advantage of the price protection benefit of my Chase cards in the second half of last year, but all in, I think I've received something like $650 back by making price protection claims. I'll be bummed if this goes away for the CF and CFU.

These are pretty much my two options too. We do fly Alaska itself from time to time being in the Pacific Northwest, so I could do that transfer and take advantage of the 5,000 point bonus when transferring 20,000. Or should I do the hotel and flight package to get the points converted to United in case I need them for Africa, and not worry about whether I even end up using the hotel portion of the package?

If I do start transferring I’d run the numbers first before deciding which way to jump. In many cases, especially United, you are bettering off transferring SPG to Marriott and booking the hotel and flights. You don’t have to use the hotel and book. The award certificate is good for a year so you can decide later.

Yes. This is definitely my plan with United. I would clearly do better transferring SPG to Marriott to convert. And the hotel + flight will get me more United miles than converting from Marriott directly into United, so I'm better off doing it that way even if I don't need the hotel certificate. And hopefully we'd find a use for the hotel cert within a year (or maybe Marriott would even extend its expiration date given some other DPs posted here). Ugh!! I just need a crystal ball. It wouldn't be my first choice for use of my SPG and Marriott points, but I don't want to lose the option either.

Well, unless my math is bad, I'm better off doing the hotel + flight and converting SPG to Marriott to United. Given the numbers of SPG and Marriott points I have, I can either convert them into 132,000 United miles with a 7-night Category 1-5 cert that I might never use. Or I can convert them into 113,703 Alaska miles including the 5,000 bonuses for transferring in increments of 20,000. I value United miles more highly than Alaska miles, so if I'm going to convert, it seems like United is the way to go. Anyone want to tell me I did my math wrong? I currently have 52,412 SPG and 123,875 Marriott points.

I feel like we've been living through a devaluation bloodbath the past 10 days or so.

I just do not understand why they are requesting all the info of proof of company if I applied under sole proprietor with my first and last name as my business name and used my ss#.
I only put that I made 1K and that was stretching but I know other people had put 1K as well:sad2:

Putting the $1000 as your income may be the issue. For mine (finally approved after painful phone call) I told him I had at most sold $50 worth. I was a little exasperated and he said that is fine “understand start up business.” Maybe since you put so much they feel like they need/want the documentation?!?

I thought I read that they were going to get rid of hotel catagories. How do we use the certificates then? Add me to the list of those feeling some stress now.

My fault, I'll fess up. The first and only time in 20 years I filed a price protection claim was on my Chase Freedom last Nov. That $100 was apparently the straw that broke the camel's back. My bad folks.

(I'm really starting to think I'm the cooler in the CC world. About to apply for CSP/CSR, bam CSP 60k offered closed. Got a SPG card, kapow, world ending. Now this )

These days changes are happening so fast with credit cards. I hesitate to log on DOC or a travel blog
because something is always happening.

It's almost like all the credit card companies got on a conference call and said "let's all see how
we can shake things up or take away".

I haven't been on here today and now I'm trying to catch up. The SPG rumors aren't good. Man.

I had to move my CIP points to husbands CSR and then transfer to my CSR.

Was that because your card was already linked? I thought about sending them to her card first but now its a CF and I didn't want to mess anything up so just removed my card from hers and will try it tomorrow as the post suggested.

Honestly, if everything plays out the way it does, theres gonna be a lot of SPG rioters. Perhaps Hilton will get a lot more ppl instead haha. Heck, im considering it now.

I know I’m in the minority but I really like Hilton. We have stayed there pretty much exclusively for 10 years. As in all good things, devals occur, but we take advantage of the 5th night free and can get some really good trips out of our points. We do have the benefit of points from actual stays, though due to DH’s work travel and we get free breakfast etc for being diamond.

My in laws are both Marriott platinum and were for years due to work travel. DFiL is lifetime platinum. They started saying Hilton the last couple years with us on joint trips and now prefer it. They say Hilton treats them better and booking award stays is easier.
They had a really bad experience at the marriott in grand cayman and I think that was the final straw.

There will be no need to transfer between programs if they are all a part of one program.

But the quote I copied said no more btwn programs 4/16. I thought they weren’t combining til August. So btwn April and August your points are stuck at one brand or the other?

Your CSR is already receiving UR from your wife’s CSR, so it can’t also receive points from your CIP. Transfer your UR from your CIP > wife’s CSR > your CSR. That should work.

I can honestly say I can’t remember. Sorry.

Man, that is a really good deal and I'm going for two nights in November... I set up an alert. Doubt I could get it, but it would be great to get it for that price with it including the express passes.

You may have a good chance! Just be ready right on the moment to hit buy and complete the sale. I've bought their Universal passes for Orlando when they were gone in maybe 10 seconds, but we got one!

Other than that the items I bought did not require me to beat anyone out in a few seconds, but good deals don't last too long.

There's nothing I need on the list this year, but I get a notification for each sale.
