Another Shooting, Nashville

IMO, if the father is responsible for his nut case offspring having firearms the father is an accessory to murder and should be prosecuted as such.
It's been my sad experience that the vast majority of criminals are produced by bad/lack of parenting.

Our systems are NOT working!!!
They are NOT working, people.

Over and over and over, these things are happening because our systems are just SO ineffective and just totally broken.

This is what we all should be worried about and 'protesting' about.

Father should be prosecuted, but why were the guns returned to him in the first place if they were the son's?

Thank God for heroes like Mr. Shaw, his bravery saved who knows how many lives.
Mr. Shaw says he is not a hero, that he was just trying to save himself, but I think we still get to call him a hero. He saved many lives.

My blood boils when I think of what the killers father did. Our local news is reporting of more craziness from the killer. In addition to the incident at the White Houseand and his “sovereign rights”, this guy was convinced Taylor Swift was stalking him. He sounds absolutely crazy. His family had to know and the father still turned four guns over to him. His father should be charged but our local police chief said something about that not being illegal in Tennessee even though it would be illegal in Illinois. I am not a lawyer but the father may skate free because of that.

The killer is still out there in South Nashville, probably with two guns. We are about 10 miles away but we are keeping our doors locked.

See my previous post but the Nashville police chief said something about the father giving him the guns being illegal in Illinois but might be OK here in Tennessee. He was not speaking very clearly so maybe (and I hope) I misunderstood.

Regardless of the State's differing laws the father had a moral responsibility to see that his obviously mentally ill son didn't have access to firearms.
For failing that responsibility the father should be culpable for injuries and death caused by his negligence.

Depending on the exact situation under which the guns were surrendered, he could potentially be guilty of a felony even before the murders.

I just read about the father giving the guns back to his mentally ill son, including an AR-15. I’m thinking that the nut does not fall far from the tree. This is not a mistake or a an error in judgement. This is a willful disregard for the law. There is blood on the father’s hands as well as the mother’s if she knew about it. I want them all to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Ugh! The father MUST be prosecuted. We have more then enough gun laws already on the books, we need to enforce them.

The FBI should have followed up once the father picked up the guns. The FBI needs to do the job we pay them to do.

And what do you think people are protesting about if it is not ineffective laws and broken systems?

Is following up part of the existing FBI process? Or are you saying that they should have followed up anyway?

The fact that this young man was arrested by the Secret Service and had his guns taken away, then his did got them back he should have been on every single law enforcement radar. But the biggest issue in all of this was his dad enabled him and should pay a price just as heavy as he will pay.

Ya know.......
There are already numerous laws against murder but since criminals tend to ignore the laws they don't care for we have murders and all manner of other crimes every day.
The objects used by those criminals are no more to blame than forks are for making people fat, matches and lighters are for arson, or cars are for making drunk drivers.
People are the problem.
The suspect in this case had numerous run ins with Law Enforcement and the Courts after exhibiting behavior that can only be described as insane and yet he was allowed to roam freely in Public.
That type of situation needs to be addressed first and foremost.
