We Wants The Rum or Do We? April Trip Report! Complete! New TR in my signature 8/26**

Glad you enjoyed the show, but how unfortunate about your waiter! And also about the less-than-stellar food! When we were there last summer Nathan said the same thing about the fried chicken. I, however, was given baked chicken due to my allergies, and it seemed to be much better. It probably hadn't been sitting as long and had been attended to more carefully. We both loved the ribs. And I got to have a taste of the strawberry sauce from the shortbreads on some dairy free ice cream, so we both enjoyed dessert! What a strange experience with your server...I just can't get over that...that he was even actually arguing with another table...wow.

Sounds like HDDR was a mixed bag, but overall fun, so that's good! The ribs, salad, cornbread and dessert DID look delicious! :thumbsup2

You accomplished a ton during your MK morning! Love that you started with WtP ;) I'm with you though - it's such a cute ride! Looks like the show was great, albeit the food and service was a bit lacking. I have vague memories of doing HDDR as a kid... gonna have to ask my parents about that

I have wanted to try HDDR again for a while but your review of the food might keep me away a little longer haha its always frustrating when your waiter kind of ruins the whole experience for you. Especially if their humor is coming off mean and just making you feel bad or awkward! The last time I went I was seven I think. I think as a kid a lot of the jokes went way over my head and I didnt really enjoy it. Maybe I'll give it another go someday!

Hey people it is a day park, you are not staying overnight, no need to pack for 3 days! I seem to always get knee deep in people with gear to last them days in the park!
:worship::worship: I'm the only one with a bag so the boys go in and wait for me. And wait, and wait, because I get stuck behind the person who looks like they're going to tent camp inside the MK for a week :faint: It's so hard for me sometimes to not ask what the h^^ they have with them and WHY!!!!!

Isn’t the old Discovery Island creepy.
It is, as is the old River Country, but in a cool way! Since we've stayed at WL so often we've gone by these quite a bit on the boats and I love it.

he cornbread was very good. It was moist and had a nice flavor.
I could eat two loaves of their cornbread myself :cloud9:
Our chicken was dry and not very good, bummer!
That stinks! I'm sorry your whole experience wasn't the best this time. We did HDDR for the 2nd time in March, I'm getting to the review in my dining report. We had the BEST time all around and the food was great, even better than we remembered it from the first time. But like everywhere else down there it's hit or miss..................glad the show itself was great as always!

The dessert was brought out next and this was delicious. The dessert is a strawberry shortcake with real whipping cream!
Cornbread and strawberry shortcake and I'm good :thumbsup2

Isn’t the old Discovery Island creepy. I wonder if there are any creepy crawlers left over there??
Is that the island between Contemporary & Wilderness Lodge?

He was very slow and would disappear for long periods of time. My soda was left empty for far to long, sigh!
I feel like we had a similar problem. I think I wanted a refill on my beer and our waiter was not anywhere to be found.

Our waiter was MIA for most of the show. He was an odd duck for sure! He was actually arguing with the table next to us. I didn’t get the whole conversation but he was rather rude to them when they asked for more drinks!
Hmmm. He sounds particularly bad! Boo.

I find it fascinating…I hear rumors they are building a resort/DVC there, but I wish they'd just leave it all crazy like that.

Such a bummer you had a not-so-great waiter. They are really part of the whole great experience. We've only been once but the waiter we had was so attentive and awesome.
I agree, the abandoned areas at Disney are so cool and creepy at the same time!
I really like this dinner show and won’t dissuade anyone from going, just wish the waiter and food would have been better. The wait staff can make or break a meal for sure! I am wondering if our sides are colder because we were in the back?? Could be.

The show is so fun and it is neat to have it a dinner show! Our waiter was really odd, he would throw the food down on the table with a weird smirk then leave:confused3. I was disappointed with the chicken because last time we were there it was good! The wonderful dessert, cornbread and ribs made up for it! *spoiler alert* Andi had fried chicken elsewhere the next day and it blew the HDDR chicken away!

Sounds like HDDR was a mixed bag, but overall fun, so that's good! The ribs, salad, cornbread and dessert DID look delicious! :thumbsup2
Yes it was a mixed bag but definitely worth going and overall very enjoyable! The cornbread is a specialty there and it is done well.

I sure hope you are feeling better! We love EMH at MK, it is a great time to get in many attractions. We love WtP. I did really like Mr. Toads wild ride when it was there!

I really think it is a great dinner show and worth going once!

Oh Cloe I would still go, overall it is enjoyable, the chicken and cooler than should be sides were minimal compared to the fun of the show! The waiter also was just odd and not very good! He was so awkward and just made you uncomfortable!

Why Disney doesn’t do what US does for security is a mystery. Must be to expensive with four parks!
I love the stories about River country and Discovery Island.
The cornbread is delicious and I agree, give me that and the dessert and I am happy! Carb lover here!
Disney inconsistency at it again. Overall I did enjoy the experience of the show and most of the food. Waiter needs to find a different job or have more of the awesome Disney training!

Yes Discovery Island is across the water from WL, it use to be like a zoo, and I read when it closed the snakes and creepy crawlers were just let go on the island:rotfl:
If we wanted a refill on anything it was impossible to get! He was so odd, he would dart around the tables but never get close enough to attend to people’s requests. It was intentional I do believe! He wanted to do the least amount of work possible!

Time to finish this day up. When I left off, we were going to head back to MK after HDDR and checking out FW a little before catching the boat!

Here is a bathroom picture, this is close to the creepy and crazy Discovery Island:rotfl2: I know this is one of the most popular games in a TR ever:rotfl:take a guess everyone:hyper:

Our trip back to MK was just fine, the boat was pretty full. We sat next to a little girl, she was quite chatty, so cute! She was telling us about her trip so far and then out of the blue, she sees a little boy, gets up and leaves us, like a hot potato, to talk to the little boy!:chat: So funny, we know how we rate!
IMG_Jun292018at53509PM.jpg

We had a Jungle Cruise FP+ First up so made our way over there. It was really hard to hear our skipper this time, not sure why, she may have been holding the microphone to close:mic:. We still did enjoy this, always a fun time!
IMG_Jun292018at53354PM.jpg

We decided to make a visit to the Tiki Room. I really like this show more and more each time we visit!

We had a Splash FP but for some reason we didn’t do it, I am thinking it was because the FP line was really backed up, may have been down prior?? So alas, no Splash this trip. We will for sure ride in August.
IMG_Jun292018at53427PM.jpg

We made our way to Tomorrowland to ride PM, I don’t know why we didn’t change our Splash FP to something else:confused3 maybe to tired!

We did have FP for PPF so we did this then headed out before the fireworks started to avoid some crowds. A P.O. Riverside bus was loading so we jumped on this and walked around POR for a little look. Yee Ha Bob was entertaining people in the bar area. I caught a quick glimpse. We walked back to FQ along the river, what a nice walk.

I added a few pictures from earlier at MK since I apparently didn’t take many in the evening at MK
IMG_Jun292018at53548PM.jpg
We had a whole plane to ourselves on Barnstormer

I love this game! (Okay maybe I'm the only one but I do :rotfl:) is it the potties between HDDR and Trails End? I heard there is a rather lewd looking mural in the men's room there

You lucky people you!

I love the tiki room. I can't help but sway and sing along. Classic Disney magic!!

Well you know, they learn early these days lol

Oh crap now I need one of the boys to go in there and take a picture for me next trip :P

We got to FW and I needed to go up to the ticket window to get my AP discount refunded to my Disney Visa. I had booked on line and you only get your AP discount when you call.
I had no idea you could get an AP discount here. I thought they did TiW for the late show, but didn't know there were other options open too. Will most definitely have to take advantage of that.

Our waiter was just fair, he was a little strange and was trying to hard at times. He would come across as actually mean but I don’t think he meant to:confused3.
We had a very similar experience here. I think because they already know they are getting a predetermined tip they just dial it in.

would say the ribs, salad, cornbread, and dessert were my favorites! Andi agreed, she was disappointed in the chicken and cold sides.
Those are my favorites too. Though sorry to hear the chicken was a bust. We definitely enjoyed it in the past.

Yikes, creepy indeed!

I'm a huge fan too. Just wish they would add a bar in there :drinking1

Its so nice when you have 2 resort buses to rely upon.
