Since it looks like we'll be getting one of the Murphy bed rooms, does anybody have any advice on what to do with the chairs for the table when you pull down the bed? Do they fit pretty well somewhere else in the room so they're not in the way?

Thanks! :)
They fit just fine next to the entrance door in the little "aisle" between the entrance and the mini fridge.

I I saw a lot of the kids from big tour groups in cafeteria this morning and they were pretty chill. Tomorrow morning might be a bit more lively.
If they are Argentina 15s they will probably stay chill for a while!lol:)

Poor girls,I really feel sorry for them losing so early-all they can do now is pull for Mexico Monday!lol:)

Seeing Brazil lose Monday would definitely make their time at WDW better-if Brazil keeps winning the Brazil 15s will definitely let the Argentina 15s know about it!lol:)

I know some resorts do share pools so I was wondering if this was the situation with POP/AOA.
It was actually an excellent question.:)

Originally what is now AoA was going to be Pop Century-The Legendary Years(1900s-1940s) and would have been the "sister resort" of Pop Century-The Classic Years(which is the current Pop Century).:)

But 9/11 came along and the economy tanked and the project was put on hold and when they decided to finish Pop Century-The Legendary Years, for several reasons, they scrapped it and went with AoA instead.

So Pop Century Resort actually turned out to be Pop Half Century Resort!lol.:)

But,if Pop Century-The Legendary Years had been built it would have been a "sister resort" with Pop Century-The Classic years and Pool Hopping would have been allowed there like it currently is at the All-Star Resort and at POR/POFQ and at BC/YC.:)

I actually wish they would’ve followed through. I think it would’ve been cool if it was all one large resort where you could share pools. Plus the earlier decades would have been cool to stay in.

Wow I didn't know that! This is such great information!

Thanks :-)

You're welcome.:)

There is still some "theming" left that was intended for the original Pop Century-the lake is shaped like an hourglass and is still called "Hourglass Lake"(indicating the passing of time of course) and the bridge between Pop Century and AoA is still called "Generation Gap Bridge"(it did have "signs" on it for the 1900s,1910s,1920s,1930s,1940s,1950s,1960s,1970s,1980s,1990s but they were removed when AoA was built.)

I have always heard that one of the main reasons Pop Century-The Legendary Years was scrapped was because so many of the decades did not lend themselves to "fun theming" with the 1930s being known mainly for the Great Depression, the 1940s being known mainly for World War 2,etc.

You’d think they would thought of that before making a resort based on decades lol

So, we leave in 4 days for Pop! I went to check-in online and noticed my reservation had been changed from a preferred pool view room to a standard pool view room(even lowered the price.) It was showing preferred pool view the last time I looked(a couple of days ago.) I called and CM said the reservation shows standard pool view and that there are no preferred pool view rooms available for our stay. She was apologetic and said this shouldn't have happened, but there was nothing she could do. This does not sit well with me. I really wanted preferred pool view and that's what I booked. I have the reservation confirmation that Disney sent me showing preferred pool view room and the higher cost. How can they just change my reservation?!? Any advice on what I can do?

Oh and touring plans has already faxed my room request for a preferred pool view room. If I can't change the reservation, would I be able to send in another fax, or would that just completely confuse the room assigner?

Wow! I’ve never heard of this happening and would be disappointed too. Being upgraded (at no additional cost) may be one thing but lowered, especially without notification is another thing, even with financial compensation.

I would recommend going back a few pages to page 565 of this thread and using the information there to contact the Manager at Pop. They may not be able to do anything about relocating your room but it’s only fair for you to be able to express your disappointment and request in future they notify guests of such changes.

Maybe they could even move you to a better resort? I know they have done this with others when Disney overbooked their resort.

That is just horrible! I've never heard of being downgraded, especially with no notification. I would definitely be emailing the general manager and attach your original reservation email or take a picture of the hard copy and attach it. That's just wrong!
Next week will be our 14th stay at Pop. We always book standard because we aren't really at the resort long enough to enjoy a view and none of the buildings seem very far away from food and buses. I guess since we always book standard there is no downgrading for us...no where to go but up;)

Yeah, my brother and I used to spend quite a bit of time looking across the Lake at the "Zombie Hotel." It was first-class creepy. lol We were really excited when construction started up again, but then disappointed by the news that the rest of the Decades were left in the dust. I think they did a fantastic job on AoA, but I still really wish they would have gone ahead with the original plan as I love those Decades even more than Pop decades.

Okay, thanks. But I think that I have to sign for the order at the lobby if it has alcohol. Is that right?
Yes, you'll need to sign for alcohol. There is one of the grocery delivery business that accepts an email attachment with your driver's license, but I think everywhere else requires an in-person signature.

I've only done this once (2 years ago), but my stuff was in my room when we arrived (including alcohol). Not sure if that's the norm.

We had a standard room in the 60’s and had to move because they put the teen tour groups there. We are now in the 50’s. I don’t know if they put them in preferred pool view rooms or not but I definitely wouldn’t want to be facing that pool if they use it. I can imagine they might get very loud if they swim at night. We were very unhappy to move but they had no place to keep us in 60’s. We saw busses unloading so very many of those teens. I must say they have not been rowdy that we have seen so far.
That being said it really sucks that they moved you down a category. Definitely email the manager

Yes, Garden Grocer. I may do that though it is considerably more expensive, but really convenient.
Thanks.

Ok I've never stayed at the Pop. But I'm interested in a stay in January. I've stayed at moderate before, I really need to stay close to restaurant and lobby. What is best location here? How are the busses? Is anything under refurbishment?

I think you would want to be in the 60s for close to lobby. We were in building 10 (70s) and it wasn’t the closest to the lobby but it was really close to the buses.

I thought the buses were really good. We never really had any problems with them and I liked that pop has separate lines for each bus.

The rooms are almost all done being refurbished. By January they will all be done so you will get a renovated room. They are also doing work on the skyliner.

Can anyone confirm it's all, or only some, of the rooms that have coffee makers? On Disney's website, it does not list coffee maker as an amenity at Pop, but I've read recent reviews in which rooms had them. Going for the Princess Half Marathon, and I know nothing is open at 3am when you're boarding buses
