Aloha from the Poly! We were pleased that our room ready text came before 9am. We took a Lyft over from AKL (where we stayed last night) and arrived in time to enjoy a quick breakfast in the lounge. Not a bad way to start our day. Relaxing at the resort all day until DAH tonight.

Perfect view of the Oasis pool from our room (garden view).

That is a beautiful view. Makes me sad that we are not staying at the Poly on our next trip. Enjoy and thanks for sharing the picture.

Nice view!! Hope you have a great stay and thanks for sharing the pic!!
I hope to have that same view in 8 days!! (or next door if you are still there!:p)

If anyone has been recently or is at Poly CL now, do they have Coke Zero in the fridge? Also did you notice the current beer offerings? Trying to decide if I should bring a few sodas for the room. Also, is the fancy coffee machine still there? TIA!

Quick observation about a booking experience this trip.

We were at Poly CL Saturday-Friday. Thursday night we decided we weren’t ready to go home yet and wanted one more night, but wanted a new resort just for a change of scene - sort of a “wind down” day if you will.

Wanted BC or YC mainly for the pool and for Epcot walkability, and we’ve never really spent much time at either so a good chance to try something new without the commitment of a longer trip.

No CL rooms were available at either BC or YC online, so booked a non-CL BC Water View room with an AP discount. Online no AP discounts were showing up at YC.

The next morning I called just to see if there was any CL availability at either resort - there wasn’t. But the CM could book non-CL YC Water View at an AP discount (which was $80 better than the BC AP rate) so we changed the reservation to YC.

We checked out of Poly and drove over to YC. I figured it was useless, but at check-in I asked if there was any way they could check to see if I could upgrade to CL. A quick call to the room assignor...and success! There was a Water View CL room available at an AP discount, and it was ready (this was 10:30am,ish).

They quickly made the change, I paid the difference, then they escorted us upstairs. Very easy and very surprised a CL room was available after earlier strike outs online and via phone.

I guess the moral of the story - when it comes to last minute / day of travel and room types/categories, don’t be afraid to keep asking!

Glad you were able to upgrade to CL at check in. Thanks for the pics as well as sharing about your stay :wizard:.

We are staying CL at the Wilderness Lodge for 5 nights in December. Upon hearing that Neil Patrick Harris is narrating Candlelight Processional for 2 nights prior to our arrival I've decided to add 2 nights to the beginning of our trip. Of course, the problem is WL doesn't have those two nights availability! I have narrowed it down to 4 different scenarios and was hoping you guys could weigh in and help me decide where to stay our first two nights. Two CL rooms are available which is why I post on this thread. Here are my choices:
  1. Contemporary Standard view, Garden Wing (no CL)
  2. AKL, savanah view (no CL)
  3. Yacht Club, Water view, Club level
  4. Poly, Lagoon view, CL
Now clearly the CL rooms are the two more expensive options. One of those nights would definitely be having dinner at Epcot for the CL dinner package and the other could potentially be MVMCP so I see the advantage to being at either CL resort. Never stayed at the CR or AKL either so those would be great as well. We will have CL at Wilderness Lodge the last 5 nights of the trip so being there an extra 2 nights frees up some of our Wilderness Lodge days to take more advantage of the resort and CL amenities. We've never stayed CL before and frankly I'm nervous that all of our future stays will require CL stays :rolleyes1

Where would you stay those 2 first nights?

I agree that staying near EPCOT would be different. We love that split stay an EPCOT hotel and a MK hotel. Although we Love the Poly. That is a tough choice. I would probably go with the YC to be close to EPCOT.

Hi Everyone.. I’ve read a lot of this thread and wondered if anyone had stayed recently at gf sugar loaf? Some of the less recent reviews have not been great. We’ve only stayed club level at the wl and loved it. We love the gf and have stayed often, but never in sugar loaf or the main building. Any recent insight in to sugar loaf building? Room requests for quieter room away from the lounge? We will be there the week leading up to Xmas? Will there possibly be anything unique to the holidays in the lounge then? Thank you!
We stayed last May, so surely not during this rehab phase. Our room was on the second floor, the first room inside the hallway doors. I don’t recall noticing any excessive hallway noise during our stay. I will say the lounge was pretty chaotic and many days it was difficult to find a place to sit in the morning. Hopefully that is part of the refurb. The food was very good but we didn’t spend much time in the lounge itself. The location of the building is very close to the main building where you catch the busses and monorail. You can catch a boat to MK after a short walk down the main pathway towards the lagoon. Our previous stay at GF was in the main building (and we LOVED every minute of it) and it is very hard to “not” compare the two experiences. Yes, both GF and the food offerings are said to be the same, but IMO, nothing can compare to a stay in the main building.

YC for sure!!! At least out of the choices given and the reason you are wanting to stay those nights.

Coke and Diet Coke but didn’t see any Coke Zero. Not sure of every beer selection - I’ve only had the Angry Orchard hard cider. Husband has been drinking Kona Brewing Co Longboard Island Lager.

I know I’ve seen earlier comments about this but...

WHAT is with the teeny tiny plated apps? At Poly CL tonight and, for example, there are tiny plates with one single bite of pork and tiny plates with the smallest amount of stir fry that there’s one miniature bite of beef per plate. If you can call it a bite. And the poor chef/server is going crazy keeping up with making all these single tiny plates.

And yeah, pretty much nothing picky kid-friendly here to make a meal with. All the kids I’ve seen have been getting plates of bread and butter and cheese and crackers.

Also, guys, please don’t force feed your children something they don’t like or they might puke right here in the club level lounge. This just happened. Felt so bad for the kid.

Accurate as of yesterday, beer was:

Kona Longboard
Kona Wailua Wheat
Bud Light
Angry Orchard Cider
I-4 IPA

Sadly, they didn’t have the Kona Hanalei Island IPA that they had when we were there around NYE. That beer was really good.

And yes, the fancy coffee machine (that is hard to figure out how to use) is still there. :-)

I agree about the tiny plates. At first we felt weird about getting more than one but we got over that fast. We just took one or two and went back for more if we wanted. It sure seems like a lot of dishes for the CMs to handle though.
No puking in the lounge!

Well my pick would be AKL! It’s an amazing resort to begin with and even more incredible at Christmas time. You’ll get a similar tree at WL though and I would imagine the carolers and bell ringers too. So in that case, I’d say CR for the walkability to MVMCP. We just stayed in the garden wing and it was so super convenient. With only two nights/split stay and one night being a CP package, it doesn’t seem like you’d be able to make the most use of of CL.

I’d totally move things around and add Disney days for NPH if I could too. Outstanding!

Yay thanks! I got my money's worth from the coffee machine. I'll probably need a tutorial again though!
The Longboard was good. How was the Kona Wheat?
