All Star Movies Renovations

I understand that floors are easier to clean than carpet ........ but they have to be cleaned and every day. I have stayed in the renovated rooms 5-6 times and the floors have been consistently filthy. Not just scuffs, marks and stains but I keep socks on and after a short time the bottoms are black. With the housekeeping shortage the best they are doing is sweeping those floors but anything else hitting them as you say is only getting wiped up by guests. My trips to these vinyl floor rooms now include double the number of socks.

So, you're saying I should probably take a Swifter with me?

Unfortunately I don't! I don't know what I was thinking, but I forgot to take pictures of the room. :headache:

Yes, both rooms had one Queen bed and one Queen pull down. So my sister and her husband and her 6 year old and 2 year old were in the beds and the 1 year old was in the pack n play. It was cozy! :grouphug:
Thank you so much for the information

Some of your cons are actually pros for our family.

We loved that they took the carpet out. Do you know how many times those carpets are thrown up on, kids peed on, liquids spilled on, diapers leaked, and more between carpet cleanings? They only clean the carpets when they look dirty. There are a lot of germs on the carpets you don't see.

Sterile is actually a good thing. Sterile means that it's free of germs. We enjoyed the modern feel and thought it felt more like we were at the Contemporary or something with the updated decor. I was glad to see the carpet and padded chairs go. Hard surfaces are easier to clean. You know they don't steam the carpets or the fabric chairs after each stay. Now they can disinfect so much more of the room.

The alarm clocks were removed in 2012. That's the first time I noticed them gone from all the value resorts. So that is not really part of the refurbishment at all. I asked why they were gone and they said people have smart phones and so many gadgets that very few people use them. They do keep a small supply on hand for those who want them. All you have to do is call and they'll bring it to your room. I like to glance over at the clock and not have to get my phone out every time I want to see the time. So we request a clock every trip when we check in.

I'm surprised you thought the room felt small. Our family of 4 kept commenting on how big and spacious the room felt. With the bed down, it still felt bigger than the old style because there was no table taking up space. We had just come from a 7 nt cruise and had 8 suitcases on this trip. All our bags set easily in the front corner of the room where the table would have been in the old rooms. By putting the murphy bed up, which literally takes seconds, we were able to really spread out and have tons of space.

There are also a lot more storage options with the new furniture design. The bathroom is really nice. That new shower is very deluxe feeling. And all the shelving in the sink area is quite nice.

My family loved the newly refurbished rooms and we would not hesitate to stay there again. The added shrubs around the property also made the resort feel less value-ish and more like a moderate feel.

Just my take on things. I know different people like different things.

Thanks for the tip about the alarm clock!

We took wet wipes with us and just walked on them to clean the floor. They did end up being pretty nasty after we cleaned the floors. Made me feel better after wiping them down though.

Both are options.

All I know is I've been multiple times and every time the floor was dirty.

Are there ridges on the floors or are they smooth? Trying to figure how we will clean them, my kids have severe food allergies and I thought the floors would be cleaned after each guest unlike the carpet so I'll be adding some type of floor cleaning to my hotel routine.

I believe they were fairly smooth. I looked back at my pictures and the flooring in the living space looks smooth while the floors in the bathroom have more of a ridge in between tiles.

I've heard several people say you can call and ask them to put a note on your reservation to request a deep clean for allergies before you arrive. I highly recommend you do that. If you use a travel agent, you might need them to make the call on your behalf.

Hey everyone! I was there last week and stayed in 2 connected renovated rooms in Toy Story Building 10 (Buzz).

I took a walk around the property on Friday August 3, and saw work being done on Building 8 (Fantasia) and Building 7 (Love Bug). Fantasia 8 has less "paperwork" on the windows, so I'm assuming they're closer to being done. Love Bug 7 has papers on all windows. Didn't see any other building with construction going on. Oh, and I heard more noise from landscaping and gardening than the construction!

Will give a further in depth report on our experience with the rooms next week when I get home from our beach portion of our trip! :thumbsup2

Could you tell me what the room numbers were, please? We are going in November, and have booked two preferred rooms. I would love to try to get connected, renovated rooms.

TIA!

I recommend wording your request "renovated room" and "connecting with xxxxx" on both reservations. With xxxxx being the other reservation number. This will give you better odds than requesting specific room numbers.

I honestly don't remember. :confused3 I think 0760 was one of them. We were on the 1st floor.

But I agree with the above poster. Don't worry about specific room numbers, just request connecting rooms and the Toy Story section. And since "renovated room" isn't a choice online for a room request, you'd have to call them and mention it.

I called them in advance, both the general disney number (when I made the reservation) and the all star movies number (within 10 days of arrival), and requested connecting rooms in the Toy Story section. :thumbsup2 Worked for me!

Are the all star movies or sports wheelchair accessible rooms renovated yet?

No. Some may be done at Movies, but not all. Only 3 buildings are complete. I don't know if renovations have begun at Sports.

Enjoy your vacation!

I thought about that after I posted, lol. My kids will most likely prefer 101 Dalmatians, so it probably won’t matter anyway.

Visited this evening (9/1). Looked like most, if not all, of Building 6 (Love Bug) is now closed for renovation. Wing of Building 7 (Love Bug) furthest from Fantasia is closed for renovation as well.

Wow! Thank you so much for the update!! I’ll update post #1. Did Fantasia look finished? Did you happen to take any pictures?
