Disney Gift Card Deals

I think the best deal is Best Buy in $100 transactions over 3 days. SB is 9.5% back plus chase pay 5% back plus I think you still get the regular 1% back from chase plus if you’re a Best Buy rewards member you’ll get points back. So looks to be about 15.5 back for every 100
Sams would get you around 11
If you don’t live close enough to Best Buy, and you have to factor in gas, then it may end up being about the same.
We don’t live close enough to a Best Buy to make it a regular run, but I’ve been picking up $100 each time I’m close. For me, it’s the best deal (currently purchasing with BB credit card)

Thank you! This helps since I haven’t renewed my Sam’s club membership and anything I save there will be eaten by renewal fees. There is a BB close to me so that is not a factor. It’s just a new process for me. So when I go up to the register, I have the cashier scan the SB QR code, then the Chase Pay QR code, correct? I did have BB rewards, but it’s been so long I don’t know if my account is still active.

This by no means is saying that it will work because it sounds like no one knew what was going on and they did the adjustment manually. From the Dis facebook group -

No, the cashier that we went to didnt know how to get the extra percentage, so CS called someone over to help her. They also said if I download the app to my phone they can just scan my phone. Extra 10% on Red Card purchases through 9/22.

I asked her if they adjusted it manually, since it sounds like she didn't actually have the app and they weren't using that for the coupon. I think she got SUPER lucky that the people at her store didn't say no since she didn't have the app or know the exclusions and tell her no to the gc.

I also think by now if it really did work we'd have seem more that it did. I'll update if she responds but I have a feeling her answer will be yes and she just has nice people at her store.

ETA - her response - they scanned a sheet of paper because I hadn't downloaded the app to my phone.

So she found the work around that most people won't ever find because I can't imagine my store being nice enough to have a paper when the coupon is only supposed to be in the app. She ended up with 2 gc because she went back so $75 for $64 and $100 for $85.

Someone else in the post tried it using the app and it didn't work, which I think is the entire point from Target's side.

For the Chase 5% freedom quarter, it's 5% total. Between SB and Chase it'd be 14.5% back on $100 plus your level of BB rewards points on top.

Have them scan the gift card, then the QR code for SB (just be sure it’s done before they total it out). When they ask for payment have your chase pay QR code ready (just be careful if you have something like an Apple wallet to keep it away from the credit card machine). I always check the receipt to be sure it took. I’ve done it probably 100 times and it only never took once (and I don’t have a clue why).
I’d still have them try to look up your Best Buy rewards. If you decide to keep using this offer (they sell lots of other gift cards there), those Best Buy points can add up. I just redeemed a $100 certificate today!
Another thing I thought of was using Dosh at Sams club. I’m new to dosh, but right now it’s an extra 5% (was 10 I believe not too long ago) If you can stack that with a card that has 5% back at warehouses, it might be a better deal. Maybe someone who uses dosh could chime in...
But for me Best Buy because it’s much closer is still a better deal.

On my statement ($379 was my bill), I had 379 points then additional bonus points for the 5% categories so I was under the impression I got 6% back on those purchases. I’m new to the freedom card so I could be reading the point breakdown wrong.

The additional points are probably about 1516, right? This comes up every once and a while with freedom. The other recurring discussion is if charges made at the end of the quarter that post in the next quarter count toward bonus categories.

Yes, it was 1535

They break it down as 1% usual charge and then additional 4% for the category. If there's multiple categories, each category is broken down separate as well to make up the total. So if you have a statement across quarters there will be a line like "Q3 gas x" and "Q4 chase pay x".

I would like to wait to use Chase Pay to earn that extra 5% for Disney GCs but I'm nervous that SB is going to change the bonus structure again and I would've been better doing it now and getting 1.5% back with my quicksilver. I'm going in December so I still have plenty of time. If it changes, I guess I could see how it would compare to BJs where I have a membership.

No, it's 5% total not an additional 5% on top of your 1%. Usually they break it down as 1% normal and then 4% bonus. It will say 5%, but if you math it out, it actually equals 4% extra. Here's a screenshot from my account from this month's bonus category, which is gas. You can see it says 5% but 4% of $22.51 is actually 90 points, then if you add in the 22.51 points, you get the total of 5 points per dollar.

RMN question, has anyone had success recently with anyone else crediting cash back, other than Walgreens, for GC purchases? I know Kohls doesn't carry Disney GCs (at least mine does not) but has anyone use the $15 off $75 Kohls offer and bought a GC? They have Lowes and we are deep in DIY projects :)

Right now there is a promotion for Chase Pay from Sept. 1-30 to get another 5% off on TOP of your rewards if you use Chase Pay with Freedom Unlimited or any of the Sapphire Cards with a $200 limit per card. So with Freedom Unlimited using Chase Pay that would be 1.5% + 5% = 6.5% for $200. Then if you had a Sapphire Card, you could also do 1% + 5% = 6% for $100. Definitely join the best buy rewards membership if you aren't one. Even at the lowest level, it's 0.5 points per $100 spent. You need 250 points to get a $5 rewards certificate. Thus, at $300, you would only need an extra $200 to get the $5 rewards (effectively a 1% return rate if you hit the exact threshold).

I tried with a $75 kohls GC and it was a no go. They now have $10 off $20 at Staples and $10 off $25 at Walgreens and CVS.

How does the RMN deal work? Can you use this deal at Walgreens to purchase $10 off a disney gift card?
