Canadian Buffoon's Back to Front Vacation - Update! 05/18 - Falling Down

Wow! I certainly couldn't spend a week with MY sister!

We get along pretty well. :)

seriously? Well you can bet that I've been going to them for years. I can't even I shine his many years. But we have them all over California, I'm gonna say since my divorce in 1993.

We have zero here.
So... that kinda 'splains it.

You are correct, but about 2% do have restaurants in my experience.

Hmmm...
So it was even more rare
than I thought. Huh.

I'm thinking that most wineries have these gift shops you're talking about.

Probably. Easy money maker.

Oh my gosh! I have not encountered this! I would love to do a cooking school!

Me too!

:lmao: That's too funny! I'm always curious enough to look.

I know! But for whatever reason,
it didn't occur to either of us!

Well I wouldn't order a burger at a winery, usually by principle. While its not an awful thing, it isn't the best thing towards whatever they are recycling towards.

Well....
Don't tell anyone,
but I probably would've
still picked what I ordered.

OK this is another one that I'm amazed you have never experienced. :faint:

Not all that many
drawbridges on the prairies.

I know... you're shocked.

This doesn't sound good.

Was less than impressed.

Sounds yummy!

They were pretty good,
although the ice wine
left a bit to be desired.
Had much better.

OMG Dine and dash you criminals!

Shhh!!!! Don't tell anyone!

gelato and ice cream in the same day! decadent!

Just one shy of the
perfect trifecta.

Funny the people that attend this church:rolleyes1

They're out of this world!

wow tthats totally cool

Totally weird!

heard of it but never tried it.

Next time... try them. :)

that's another one I've totally loved for years!

My first time.
And I can see why
you love it!

yes he was worshipping

I believe he was preying.

Are you implying that there’s a possibility that I might actuality have veracity?

Verily.

I’d have teed off on that one, but you already got it headed down the farway.
(and bouncing straight towards the bunker)

::yes::

I’ll send it to you.

It’s not profane or such…
It just takes a jab at a particular institution (and its followers)

And I got it. And replied. :)
Thanks!

Chuck Norris has a Grizzly Bear Carpet in his Livingroom…
It’s not dead; it’s just too scared to move.

Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer.
Too bad he has never cried.
Ever.

I was just trying to limit the ratio of gun fire you’d have to deal with.
Your proximity to polar bears is purely a personal choice. ;)

Just need Chuck Norris along.

Much weight can be gained in my kitchen.

But it’s worth it.

I bet!
Must head back thata way.

When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.

Love that scene.

Of course not.
I receive a stream of official government approved lies on just about a daily bases.
You’re just adding to the profusion.

It's what I do.

Didn’t know you were going through Cleveland or I might have mentioned it.

Didn’t happen to travel through Buffalo on this trip did ya’?

Ohhhh... crap.
So tell me what
I missed there?
(Mind you... I really
didn't have time there.)

Bet that one would make for a right entertaining bit of storytelling.

Nah.
Kind of a dull story,
that one.

We get along pretty well. :)

Actually it's not so much my sister, but it's her husband. The last time we went there for Thanksgiving was the last.

We have zero here.
So... that kinda 'splains it.

Yeah, I guess living in California, we have more.

Next time... try them. :)

I'll remember that. If I can remember what they are. We have a favorite Greek restaurant here.

My first time.
And I can see why
you love it!

It's been a while since I've had it. Fran isn't so into the middle Eastern type foods.

How Elizabethan of you…

Too bad he has never cried.
Ever.
And an ironic loss for humanity.

Ohhhh... crap.
So tell me what
I missed there?
(Mind you... I really
didn't have time there.)
I’ve missed a few proximity opportunities due to a lack of time as well including our one stop off in Cleveland and three different stints in NYC. May well have trouble getting back to those, but it happens.

Well, you asked so in Buffalo there’s the Buffalo-Erie County Naval & Military Park.
Several ships and fragments there including USS Croaker, USS The Sullivans and the USS Little Rock.

Pretty sure you sideswiped the greater Philadelphia area as well.
There’s a rather unique one there in the USS Olympia.

Nah.
Kind of a dull story,
that one.
Well then it might actually have been better to have gotten caught.
It might have improved the story, at least.

But then there's the inevitable Lifebouy-esk consequences that would have followed, so maybe not.

OH
my goodness

I can't believe you went to Niagara on the Lake, that's one of my bucket list places!! It looks so tiny, is it a popular tourist place?
I remember a few years ago I was obsessed with the idea of visiting Niagara Falls and going on the boats and stuff, but I'd read that Niagara itself was a bit naff..?! So I looked for nice areas nearby and thought Niagara on the Lake looked so pretty and quaint! And it would be cool to visit Canada! YAY I loved this update.

I'd been here a few times before

LUCKY

A lot of the homes that you see
along the main road were
built in the 1890s and are
well kept or restored.

You can tell how old they are! In a good way!

Amazing :lovestruc

Yaaay this is the hotel I wanted to stay in (I'm sure it's where everyone wants to stay) Have you been to the pretty wine bar?

Pretty lady!

In the late 19th century,
a row of six identical homes
was built on St. Patrick St.

In the middle of the 20th century,
companies began buying up
properties... half a unit at a time.
Finally, one owner refused to sell.
They tore down the other half and...

I love that :rotfl: reminds me of Mr. Fredricksen from Up, when he won't sell his house so they construct around him :goodvibes

This was once a massive, ugly
hole in the ground.
Now it's an idyllic place
for a stroll.

Or a sashay.

SASHAY.

Did you see it in this chapter?

HA no I didn't, so I scrolled back through...

Got him eventually! It took me scrolling all the way back to the top and then back down again!

Actually it's not so much my sister, but it's her husband. The last time we went there for Thanksgiving was the last.

Sounds like an interesting
story. Care to share?

Yeah, I guess living in California, we have more.

You have grapes.
That helps.

I'll remember that. If I can remember what they are. We have a favorite Greek restaurant here.

Let me know if you do. :)

It's been a while since I've had it. Fran isn't so into the middle Eastern type foods.

I don't know that I am either.
I've had... I don't know if I've had any!
But... dang that was good.

How Elizabethan of you…

Well, at least you didn't say Victorian.

Wait.... which Elizabeth????

And an ironic loss for humanity.

Well, you asked so in Buffalo there’s the Buffalo-Erie County Naval & Military Park.
Several ships and fragments there including USS Croaker, USS The Sullivans and the USS Little Rock.

Well... poop.

Pretty sure you sideswiped the greater Philadelphia area as well.
There’s a rather unique one there in the USS Olympia.

Interesting story!
(Thanks Wiki!)

It might have improved the story, at least.

Well, I did get caught.
Luckily no soap was involved.

You'd love the entire area.
Wineries all over,
pretty town.
Gorgeous drives.
Winston Churchill once called
the Niagara Parkway
"The prettiest Sunday drive in the world."

::yes::

You can tell how old they are! In a good way!

Lots more! That was just a sampling. :)

Loved walking around and just
looking at the homes.

46b8925d827512b41a5270237345ce5c.jpg

No. I've eaten at a few other places
but not that one.
My sister probably has.
She goes (I think)
every year for the Shaw Festival.

Pretty lady!

Yes she is! :)
She got the looks,
I got the...

umm...

uh....

She got the looks.

Correct.

I don't bare my tummy, though.

I've got a lot of catching up to do!!

Enjoyed reading about your drive-by at the Christmas Story house and your meetup with Carrie and Joe.

Those were a couple of incredible bikes at the Southeast HD store!

::yes::

Well, you may have been down one chip from your visits to 20 HD shops, but that one you found with the museum more than made up for that! What a cool backstory to the dealership!

What goes "Clip-Clop, Clip-Clop, Clip-Clop, BANG!"?

I'm back to Halloween. Luna got into Halloween, too. Tu.

Et tu, Brute?

That's very true!
I'd like to go back
to that one again.
And I say that.... Never.

What goes "Clip-Clop, Clip-Clop, Clip-Clop, BANG!"?
