Tried some more to get the 100k personal Plat offer to come up for me or DH. No luck. Did some digging and found a reddit explanation for why incognito with name misspelled, old address might work. It needs to be close enough for the soft pull to work (too far off and you'll get the no offers available screen), but NOT close enough so that AmEx recognizes you as a customer (you'll get logon screen). :scratchin I guess that makes logical sense.

Well, both DH and I have had an AmEx card since college days, so I think they have every single address on our credit reports. So maybe that's why it's not working for us.

so WoH cc..... that's one free night yearly on anniversary, plus another free night if you spend 15k?

Mine is all, lets go this weekend! Um... first of all, that 1am flight is usually $60pp but since this would be in 14hrs, it's $150pp. Then $90pp back. And it's Frontier, so if you want to sit together (DH cares way more than I do about this) that's another $19pp each way. So we're at $556 for flights. Then we need a hotel for one night, and the only thing I see on property really is the Dolphin for $200. Even the DS hotels are just shy of $200 for one night. I even checked Priceline, best there was Hilton Bonnet Creek as a blind deal for $140. Anything left with Disney is over $300

And after I explain all of this to DH, he goes, that's not too bad. I have to draw the line at $700+ for 36 hours. :rotfl2:

Soooo.... maybe next weekend instead for cheaper flights? :cutie:

So I'm pretty set that BILs are not coming on the trip this summer. Their loss. But there has been talk about maybe they could do the weekend before or after the cruise and do Kennedy or Disney, etc. We're only doing Kennedy now, no Disney or Universal. So earlier this week I asked DH if he could try to get them to pick a weekend. That was super not helpful. First DH forgets to tell me what they said, then one of them answered based on the idea that it should be the weekend before so you do all the walking then go relax on the cruise. And DHs opinion was that it should be after, because we could get off the ship Friday morning and go to Kennedy. But...

THAT WAS NOT THE POINT OF THE QUESTION.

I was trying to figure out if one weekend worked better than the other, or even a response of either being fine :sad2: So now since I'm doing the planning, I'm making the decisions, and it will be based on pricing :P

ETA: Oh, and to top it off, SIL had gallbladder stones removed earlier this year and they are recommending removal, and that that should be done before she would get pregnant. Sooo with nothing scheduled or planned at this time, apparently that means no one can go :confused3 I know I sound really horrible, I'm just venting. I get that stuff takes time to schedule. Medical issues are a big deal. But BIL and SIL are just the type to be like, oh no we can't make any plans ever again because of this thing... give up type personalities. And since that's not my personality, it frustrates me at times.

It's just... DH asked BIL, if you end up being able to make it for a weekend, would one work better? And got back, "oh SIL was told she should get GB out before getting pregnant" And sounding terrible again, but sometimes I want to be like... and how does that answer my question?

My $10 Sam's Club Chase offer finally credited, but I STILL haven't gotten the AT&T offer. Signed up January 9 and I've sent an SM. They said they've escalated my problem and I'll hear something in six business days (weird time frame but ok). So if I don't hear something by the end of the day Tuesday, I'll be mad.

Well this hobby has definitely changed my attitude toward saving/spending. A few weeks ago when my home and auto insurance was up for renewal I noticed it had gone up by quite a bit. Got a couple quotes online and ended up saving $400 for the year for the same coverage. Now don't get me wrong, I was happy...just not quite as happy as I should have been, since that was planned spending for DH CIP MSR. Now today DH calls and says the vehicle needs $400 to fix it. Granted, since our vehicle is a 2015, I'm always happy it isn't in the thousands of dollars and it's time for a new vehicle. So what do I say, "Oh, that's ok, we're working on the CIP MSR!"

Guess it all equaled out, $400 saved, $400 spent :tilt:

first world churning problems... ;)
YAY SPENDINGS!!! lol

In regard to the Dell $100 statement credit with the Amex Biz Plat, it looks like Dell doesn't sell gift cards online. I'd like to use the benefit, but we don't really need/want anything that Dell sells. Curious what other folks are buying that are close to the $100 price point. I've seen the earlier discussion about cameras, etc., but I'd like to stay as close as possible to $100 so I'm not spending money to save money...

At MCO—had to leave Hilton Orlando (depressing) and my flight isn’t until almost 5. Thought I’d hang out in club mco but apparently I can’t go through security until 3. Oh well.

They wouldn't let you through security until 2 hours before flight? I have never heard of that before.

Sooooo it wouldn't be crazy to book a 1am flight out of Denver (so technically Sat morning at 1am) that lands at 7am Saturday, and then back at 8pm Sunday night to do the Arts Festival, right? Right??

Not at all. *says the person who flew to London on the weekend to see a show and come back home the next day* Perfectly reasonable!

So I don't know if they are enforcing it but I am a rule follower. That's what the sign says though. Was very grateful to have TSA precheck--last time at MCO I messed up and still ended up in the regular line.

I extended my girls' trip this summer...canceling my biz class flight from KRK to ORD on Austrian to fly like a peasant to KEF and spend a couple of nights in Iceland! I figured since I was in the neighborhood...

So I got back 92,000 United miles, am spending only 25,000 for my many legged journey to KEF (KRK-WAW-CPH-KEF) and then exhausted too many skymiles to get back home (and sadly, biz does not exist anymore on Delta from KEF to MSP, that's okay, I'm okay, I'll be okay...). But I am super excited to visit Iceland and maybe see a tiny bit of Copenhagen! It almost takes away the sting of the 1099 presents Amex is sending me!

Totally worth flying like a peasant to spend time in Iceland! We did a quick couple of days in Rekjavik on the way to Europe a few years ago and we absolutely loved it! On the list of places to go back to, for sure.

Ok- need some help. DH just got approved for the CIP. Yay for that.

I just found out his cousin is getting married in September. The best airline to get there is Delta (we are in LAS they are in Casper).

I don't want to use our URs for the trip. Both of us have various Chase cards, but only the SPG from Amex. What card would be best? Arrival+, a Delta card, or something I'm not even considering?

Looks like it would be 28k Delta miles/pp (we need 3) to get there, or about $870 total.
