Disney Gift Card Deals

I have read and tried to understand the Kroger points thing. I do use Kroger to shop, ecoupons and gas but I definitely have a hard to time figuring out the darn Kroger fuel points! We have two trucks so I could fill them up both to max out. With the 4X points this week, can someone spell it out exactly how it worked for them? Like the math? How much in Disney cards would I need to buy to get the best fuel points? Should I wait and purchase the card March 1 so the points do not expire? Will the points I have right now cause issue on which give me gas credit right now?

Sorry! I have tried to research some online!

I don’t have time to be completely thorough, but maybe later...

Fuel points don’t combine from month to month. The FPS you earned in January will be good through February 28. The FPS you earned in February will be good through March 31. You can use FPS from the current month you’re in. So say if you have 800 fuel points from January right now, and 1000 FPS from February, you could get $1 per gallon at the pump now, but then that would leave your 800 FPS from January unused and wasted.

You need to determine how much fuel you can feasibly use per month in order to figure the math. Typically in winter I get enough FPS for 1-2 35 gallon fill ups. During mowing season I get enough for 3-4 fill ups. Any more than that and it gets to be a big hassle trying to time things to meet at the pump.

For regular gift cards, it works out to about 14% savings plus I use my Amex blue card preferred for an additional 6% back for grocery store spend. So use whatever card you have that gets you the most back at groceries. I consider that to be a 20% savings.

HTH and maybe I can’t write more later.

You can actually go online to see how many points you currently have for THIS month and next month.
Remember those points will expire tomorrow. I've logged into my account and this automatically appeared:

You need to buy $250 total in GC's to accrue $1 off for $35 savings. We fill two cars in one session to max out the offer. When DH is done filling his car he hands me the pump so I can fill mine. Or we bring my truck and a few gas cans.

Also and very important, if you're taking a vacation for a week or two I would refrain from purchasing more than $250. Example, if you have a trip planned in April do not buy more than $250 in March.

The points are good for the month you earned them plus the next month. Purchase in February, they go away the end of March.
I have Smith's (same company) For this 4X offer, purchase a $250 GC (double check what cards are on the special, sometimes its certain cards) you will earn 1000 points on your Smith's card. At the gas pump, scan your Smith's card and the screen will ask you what you want to use. Just fill up your tank...NOW...it's a one time shot. If you have 2 trucks, you need 2 drivers to go to the pump at the same time. One driver pumps and the other driver moves the vehicles in and out of position. IF you put the nozzle back in the pump, you are done. No go backs. The person pumping must just stand there with nozzle in hand until you have used your 35 gallon's worth.

I shop at Kroger all the time. I was asking if anyone else had purchased through this method as I believe it is possible, I'm trying to get data points to help fellow DISer's. :flower3:

We have 1 Kroger in our area and I love it! Unfortunately it is tiny and no gas station. So I always have these points but nowhere to redeem them! The points are just from regular spend, I am not actually trying to get the points of course!

The fuel program allows you to receive savings of up to $1.00 off per gallon one one fuel purchase up to 35 gallon at Kroger, Turkey Hill and participating Shell stations. For each increment of 100 fuel points (up to 1,000 point) you will receive $0.10 per gallon.

Also
Kroger's grocery stores are what the company is most known for. According to thecompany's website, it owns nearly 2,800 grocery stores in 35 states. These stores comprise more than 24 chains, including Kroger, Ralphs, Dillons, Smith's, King Soopers, City Market, Fry's, QFC, and Harris Teeter.

My Kroger affiliate is Fred Meyer, but because they sell more than just groceries (sort of like a Target), it doesn’t code as grocery on my Amex BCP for 6%. That, plus the way Kroger handles their fuel points by not letting you combine points earned in different months when redeeming for gas made me switch to Safeway. I was wasting too many Kroger fuel points.

It is location dependent. In Central VA we can use more than 1000 fuel points per fill up.

I haven’t seen a $250 bonus for the no annual fee card in a long time, but yes, I would assume it’s the same card or the bigger bonus is for the Disney Premier Visa with the annual fee.

No, the Disney Visa doesn’t offer better cards than the ones you mentioned. However, I do like that there is a special Disney Visa meet and greet and that I save 10% at the Disney Store when I use my Disney Visa.

If you search on the web there are links for referrals for the no fee card to get $200 bonus. I know this because i always post mine up. If you know anyone in your family that has one have them go to chase website offers and see if they can send you a link. That way you get a bonus and they get a bonus for referring you.

College textbooks are a scam. Dh was actually able to find quite a few of ours as free PDFs, but I'm the type of person who needs a physical book to highlight when I'm studying

You get the fuel points for whatever amount of gift card you buy, so you just want to make sure you don't buy so many you can't use them before they expire (also pay attention to the price of gas when doing your calculation). Here's a math example of what I would typically do:

$500 Disney Giftcard = 2,000 fuel points = $2.00 off per gallon.
Max gallons are 35

35 x $2.00 = $70.00
$500-$70 = $430 = 14% savings.

You can layer credit card cashback or points on top of this. Hope this helps!!

If you buy the points on March 1, you have until April 30 to use them. At my pumps, you can elect to use a certain amount off each gallon. So, for example, if you had a total of 4,000 points (from buying $1,000 in GC) you could go on two separate trips to max out the 35 each time, as long as you do it before April 30. I know some people that are able to use two vehicles at once, but we have found it works easier for us to take the truck and fill up gas cans.

Perfect!
So if I buy $250 at 4X fuel points that will be 1000 fp which equals $1/gallon. Max being 35 gallons or $35.

I guess if you use a reward credit card like Disney that is another $2.50 back. You would be at 15% savings.

Thank you!

Yes! And if you have Discover it would be 5%.

I know YMMV but when I tried to use my activated Visa GC (that I purchased through Staples) at Best Buy for a $100 disney gift card, it wouldn't let me run it as credit. I would have had to use the PIN that was provided with it. I didn't do it because I was pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten the swagbucks for it so I just used my debit card and ran it as credit with no issues. This sort of surprised me. Has this happened to anyone else?
I've done it a few times and just run it as debit, got the swagbucks no issue. I just used the pin that came with. I think I've used one from Staples before. I just had originally registered it because I thought I'd use it online and then didn't, so wanted to make sure it wouldn't matter if I don't register the new ones I got from Lowe's.

I've used pre-paid Visas and MCs at Best Buy with PINs and have still gotten Swagbucks credit. SB uses a QR code to track your purchase - it doesn't care the form of payment you use.

I didn't register the VGCs I got from Lowe's and they worked just like the ones I didn't register from Staples when I used them in store at BB. SB tracked fine as well.
