DoC is reporting a rumor that Amex is working on a new super-premium card to fit in between the Platinum and Centurion cards.

DoC also tweeted that one benefit on the rumored new card may be "unlimited" Centurion Lounge access, and there may be an accompanying nerf to the Platinum card's Centurion Lounge access. Currently, the Platinum card allows the cardmember and 2 guests complimentary entry to Centurion Lounges 3 hours prior to departure. Overcrowding at the Centurion Lounges remains a common complaint, and there's been suggestions that Amex could limit the number of entries allowed per card each year.

On the plus side, a new super-premium card will probably come with a large welcome bonus.

I don't recall seeing any DPs of successfully extending IHG certs. And, as you found out, they are enforcing the "stay by" terms and you can't book past the expiration month. As of earlier this year there was leeway with the exact expiration date, like if it expired 4/2/20 you could book for 4/12/20 still but not as far out as 5/2. Can't hurt much to call but with this far out from expiration I'm not expecting a positive outcome. Always happy to be wrong though!

Thanks for the response! I did call and they said you could book for 10 days after the expiration date, but that it couldn't be extended beyond that. No big deal as we have decided to use the certificate for trip to Toronto to visit the inlaws in February (over Canada's family day weekend).

That's a nice bonus on the Biz Gold. If that offer would have come out a month ago I would have jumped on it. I just paid off our February cruise with my BBP. It's impossible for me to do 5k/3month MSR with normal everyday spending. My next big spending month isn't until March\ April when I pay off our European cruise and taxes......and then, of course, there's that big AF.

And a super hefty AF to go with it...

For those that have done a timeshare offer, how bad was it with IHG? They just offered 4 nights for $199 with a full refund after the 2-hour presentation. Option of 5 different destinations. Thinking of Williamsburg and coupling it with a trip to DC. We have 18 months to book travel. Since DH and I would both have to be at the presentation, that would mean having 1-2 kids in tow as well. We have 0 intention of buying and I am very capable of saying no. Can you just leave after the 2 hours?
I also had a bad experience. They swore, promised, pledged I could get a refund no questions asked. I tried to make a reservation, it took them close to two weeks to let me know there wasn't availability, and refused to refund.

I find this pretty interesting. I guess time will tell if it's going to be worth whatever the super high AF will be. We don't travel often compared to many other people I know, but we do enjoy our lounge access...

There are some pretty funny comments about Amex and the new card over on r/churning:

Amex Platurion, made of 100% renewable eco friendly compostable cardboard.

$500 airline credit from Amex coming redeemable only through in-flight headphone purchases.

At this point I'm expecting Amex to claw back the wood block and/or send a 1099 for it.

So let’s see the Plat is $550, are thinking over $1k? Now I am regretting taking that retention offer.

:rotfl2: Call me optimistic, but I think Amex will price the AF at $995 just to avoid the $1,000 psychological barrier.

It feels like it's been a LONG time since Raise had a good promo and/or good % back on TCB... I guess that's a good thing for me since I'm waiting on my next card and have very limited MSR left... But I hope something good is coming in the next few weeks, especially with Black Friday around the corner (meaning perhaps that will spark something good). I'm hoping for the deal to buy some Disney GCs to payoff our January trip!
Maybe they'll be a good sale on Monday. Rakuten sent an email about 11% cash back on 11/11.

It also seems like raise is moving more to this ‘cash back’ model. I don’t care for that as much since The cash back is fairly low and you cannot combine that with cash back sites.

Where does everyone stay for Sea World? I was originally thinking of using my Marriott FN certs at the Renaissance but am debating now because of the resort fee...

The Gold credit is a great card for the average family with the 4 points on restaurants and groceries. I will probably keep this card despite the AF. I feel like the platinum card is really for the business traveler. I can't see how this card benefits the vacationer that flies 3 or 4 times a year.

I think the BBP is a great card with 2 points on everything and no AF. The green card is a solid card with 3 points on travel, but the perks with the AF??? Clear is ok, but if you travel as a family whats the point of one person having it. The travel bag is nice, but what about the second year you have the card?

Between the Staples MCGCs and VGCs from this week, I have now covered 3 nights at the Park Hyatt Sydney! The Australia trip is slowly coming together.
Yay! I can't wait to hear what you think about it. I hope to book us, soon. I can't until I know when we'll be flying home from Sydney lol
