We do not know for certain. Here is what we do know:Hello! (DISboards newbie here.) Do we know yet if this will have FastPasses yet? Our first day in the park coincides with the ride's opening day, so trying to plan my FP as strategically as I can.
Why?
but you can do standby, rope drop or end of night are the best timesThird trip since it opened, still no luck with a FP. Was hoping GE or MMRR would spread out the fastpasses a bit, but Disney isn't rolling that way.
Do you have a link to that?We do not know for certain. Here is what we do know:
- People who should be able to book FPs for opening day are not seeing it as an option
- "People who know things" on WDWMagic's boards have indicated that a Virtual Queue is planned
I should warn you that WDWMagic is a dark place full of sarcastic skeptics; it can kill your Disney buzz very quickly.Do you have a link to that?
Also, when did Disney put out information for RoTR? I feel like they should let us know the procedure for MMRR sooner rather than later
I wonder if you'll be able to join two BG's at the same time......

They put out VQ info for ROTR the day it opened; prior to that, silence.
They used the VQ to get into the land on day one of SWGE, by midday the land was open to everyone, MFSR didn't require a VQ on it'd own and it's always been standbyThank you for your warning!
I go March 6th, so that’s 2 days I’ll get to see how it goes
I figure we won’t get to ride it, but if we can, it’ll be a nice bonus!
Last question, not sure if anyone knows, but I didn’t follow how Smugglers Run opened. Did they use a virtual queue? How did that opening go? Seems likes it dies down, and ride times in the evening/night are 45ish minutes aside from busy days.
Were the waits ever super crazy? Why is RoTR so different? Maybe MMRR will just be standby too. Wonder what differentiates standby versus VQ.They used the VQ to get into the land on day one of SWGE, by midday the land was open to everyone, MFSR didn't require a VQ on it'd own and it's always been standby
the opening of SWGE started with a posted 5 hour wait for MFSR at 4:30am (when the land opened) but quickly went down to 2 hours by afternoonWere the waits ever super crazy? Why is RoTR so different? Maybe MMRR will just be standby too. Wonder what differentiates standby versus VQ.
The first day and then the next several mornings, yes. But people quickly figured out that the ride was most popular in the morning and the crowds started to spread out. Were the waits ever super crazy?
Smugglers Run has identical 4 ride systems. If 1 or 2 break down (which I understand they did regularly the first several weeks), they can continue to run the other ones. As such, they never once ran into a situation where they had to dump the line because of a ride breakdown. Why is RoTR so different?
Honestly, if Disney wants to maximize guest satisfaction they should limit it to 1 of either but not both. that will let the most people ride at least one headliner per day. Otherwise MMRR probably runs out of bg’s first thing every morning the way ROTR does. That is the million dollar question. TBD on Mar 4 I would assume. I arrive Mar 3 and my HS day is Mar 6, watching this very closely.
If MMRR has the capacity that Great Movie Ride had, and it works like its supposed to, I don't think getting everyone who wants to ride through in a day will be an issue most days.Honestly, if Disney wants to maximize guest satisfaction they should limit it to 1 of either but not both. that will let the most people ride at least one headliner per day. The difference is that MFSR has always been performing almost at 100%, it's reliable and a fast loader with each pod launching every 45 seconds.
RotR is not nearly close to 100% having lots of technical issues, which is why Disney decided to implement VQ to it to control the people that have to physically wait in line.
If RotR didn't have a VQ you would see standby lines on the 5-6 hour mark with people not being able to ride it by the end of the day
Didn't Hurricane Dorian affect the opening of SWGE and MFSR somewhat as well? The first day and then the next several mornings, yes. But people quickly figured out that the ride was most popular in the morning and the crowds started to spread out.
Somewhat, but it didn't have an effect on the long run, the ride is just that efficient and the land that big to not require VQDidn't Hurricane Dorian affect the opening of SWGE and MFSR somewhat as well?
I'm super doubtful park open will stay at 9 myself but I have an 8 am adr so hoping I'm wrong.Thank you to everyone who replied!
I've changed our plans, and we plan to spend the whole day at HS. March, park open is 9am, so it is doable. But also playing it by ear, and can always leave and come back.
I booked 3 fastasses for HS as soon as I could this morning, and of course SDD was gone. I snagged one for TSM, but just checked back and SDD was there! 6pm, fits in perfectly for after dinner in GE, so I'm excited! Never been to Toy Story Land, so looking forward to it!
