Can you actually play the Chess set? DS would love that. He went to chess camp for a couple of years.
Yeah you could! Dh wanted to play but the pieces were heavy and I didn’t want to hurt my back. The other one we played was connect four

I thought I had mentioned this previously, but can't find it now...:confused3 If I have a CSR currently, with a future booking at 1.5..... and I PC'ed to the CSP before that trip, what happens price wise? SInce I've already 'paid' the points at the better redemption level, but no longer hold that card at time of trip? Will I owe more? (It won't cancel my plans, right?)

@reliev - I gather from some of your posts you are an experienced travel hacker/churner so please don't think this was directed at you specifically. It's not. I'm sure you know all of this. I'm using your post as a diving board for my thoughts on UR value in light of the AF increase on the CSR. Newbies and lurkers may wish to consider the value of building their own trifecta or quadfecta of UR earning cards. They may also wish to consider if they plan to do mostly point transfers or pay with points so they know which math to use when it comes to picking their cards.

Ive been doing this game for about 20 years I'm not offended I didn't have the time to do the quick math but you made some great points I agree 100% I just did a 1000$ worth of 4 season redemptions for less than the AF on the CSR(for the redemption value) . I was looking for quick and easy math but you are right like a car it can vary by person what their wants and needs are. I agree.

you wouldn’t owe more, the number of points used stays the same. You do lose the CSR travel protection, but will have the CSP protection

So it looks like the pink discount and the 5* rider discount stacks for lyft now also. I got a prompt on lyft to activate my lyft pink membership just now and I did it. Now if only my kid will actually take the Minnie van vs the Skyliner I just want to do it once I think it would be cool for 20$ :)

edit with 10x points its actually 20$ with 200 UR points :)

Look, @SouthFayetteFan! Now I have a helmet too!
Nice!
:worship::scared1:

Well, I didn't THINK I was using "cpp" correctly.... yikes!

Thank you for the detailed walk through. You're correct- they already have a lot of points and they're just concerned with having enough to get to where they want to go- not necessarily whether it's a "good" value (like me! Just get me there!)

I did go back after that initial post and change the dates to October, and definitely found economy seats for 30k/person/direction, so that was a big relief.

I believe all their United points were earned on that Chase United Mileage Plus card. So if they decide they're OK flying coach, and I can find the 30K tickets both directions for dates that work for them, then that'll be nice.

I have no idea what they would want to do as far as hotels, so some other card would be nice, but they're both retired so I am not sure if/how that will affect their approval odds. Of course, they were both retired when they got that card probably close to 2 years ago now, so I suppose that's encouraging.

Thanks again!!!!
My mom is retired. In the past 2 years ‘she’ has been approved for CF, CSP and CIP (in that order) I picked the cards and applied for her, points are all hers. She doesn’t travel but has used the points to offset unexpected bills plus enjoyed taking the family on a Lake Michigan brunch cruise last summer.

By then I think I was resigned to the fact that the movies mostly wanted to show people flying and blowing things up.

It's so weird to even think about having seen the movies but not having read the books. Or finishing one book and not having to wait a year to read the next one (after waiting in line to buy it at midnight).
I think it’s always better to read the book after seeing a movie. Every single time I have read the book first, I am disappointed in the move for lack of details, character casting, etc.
Cheat sheet...

Gryffindor: good but they break the rules often- for good lol
Slytherin: bad
Ravenclaw: smart
Hufflepuff: nice

First two are featured prominently in the movies. Ravenclaw pops up when brains are needed. I’m still unsure of why Hufflepuffs exist.
My niece is a self appointed Slytherin (probably correct) and puts her sibs as Hufflepuff as an insult. I think she’s wrong, one is definitely Ravenclaw and the other is possibly Slytherin as well (can’t trust those girls, lol). DS has never seen any of the movies or read the books (he hates reading, he’d never finish one) but I’m going to try getting him to watch the movies since we’ll be at Universal twice this year. I read all the books but have only seen 1 or 2 of the movies.
Here are some pictures from our day yesterday at Blue Springs State Park and Leu Gardens. I was underwhelmed by the manatees but LOVED Leu Gardens! I’m not much of a plant/flower person but it was so pretty.
How could you be underwhelmed by manatees? They are so cute and peaceful. I remember petting one as a kid and it has always stuck with me.

We sat down and did our year long budget last night and then I took that to make a loose churning guide for the next few months for ourselves based on when expenses fall. I think I may go for a Chase biz in a week so I can slide a student loan payment on there for Feb. Can someone remind me- P2 has the CIC, can he refer me to the CIC or is that only the CIU?

What would you say are the best Chase (personal and business) and Amex (personal and business) cards for non-bonused spend?

The manatees were all really far away so we couldn't really see them. None of them came over to the side where the boardwalk was. We probably just got unlucky

Chase: CFU or CIU
Amex: BBP but an argument can be made for the Everyday Amex if you are doing 20 transactions or more.

Again it will come down to the math and how each person uses/redeems their points and the concrete and subjective value.
