Thank you for the info. Just a quick look and we would need less Hyatt points for DC, Hyatt Place National mall is 12k a night. NYC would be 20k/night. AND I like free stuff.

I think DC is a great choice for an exchange student. I have stayed at that Hyatt, it is in a good location, but book with points early. I have run into the problem of no Hyatt's in the DC area taking points when I am looking. But since we are so close, I do tend to look at last minute and October shouldn't be busy so hopefully you wouldn't have a problem.

Showed my poor old neglected CF some love at QuikTrip just now. 2.95/gallon in my area. How about yours?

I haven't seen gas that cheap in... well, I can't even remember when. It's been around $4/gallon here last time I checked. I'm glad I don't drive much anymore.

Checked it out. End of season so colors are limited but looks good. Do you have this? How is the fit (big, small, right on)?

I didn't think of LE. Checked them out and I didn't see a packable one with a hood. I would want a hood but maybe should think about wearing a hoodie underneath for the hood. There is still a 30% off coupon out there.

I also found one by 32 degrees. Great sale price ($24.99 down from $100). The reviews are mixed though - some with feathers coming out. Maybe too good a price. I am looking for under $100. The Patagonia ones look great but at $200+ not worth it for as much as I think I will use.

DD has the North Face one, and DH and I both have the Patagonia Down Sweaters (which is the weird name they gave the packable down coats) and we live in CA and wear them all the time. I did manage to buy them all on sale. I will say we love them and they've held up pretty well and also squish nicely into our "personal item" when we fly. Oh, mine also makes a nice blanket when I fly. None of them have hoods, because in general I think it's more versatile not to have it attached.

Now on another note, can I get some pixie dust :wizard: or some kind of Disney magic sent my way? I'm currently kinda dating a pilot. He's a pretty decent guy, and I wouldn't mind locking in those free flights, LOL. And yes, I've told him I plan on using him for his travel perks. I keep asking when we're hopping a plane to head south and get some Zaxbys on a date, LOL. I'm CRAVING Zaxbys HARD! LOL.

So funny, I had never heard of Zaxby's until 3 years ago when I moved to South Carolina from up north (Northeast PA then NYC). I always loved Chik-Fil-A, and never ventured to Zaxby's in the 3 years I've lived here until recently when someone described it as "the middle class Chik-Fil-A", meaning cheaper but just as good, lol. I'd have to agree! I love the Zax Snak meal (their chicken fingerz are SO good!) and love love love the seasoned fries and Texas toast. Never knew what I was missing!!! haha.

Sooooo, I may have just planned another trip for this year... I think I can do a trip to Costa Rica on points in December. Just noticed that Christmas and New Years fall on Fridays this year, which got me thinking about our post-Christmas plans, which led to checking out hotel options/flights. Next thing I know I have points advance reservations at the hotel, and am tallying my MRs/URs to see if I can put together the points I'd need for hotel and flights... Should maybe talk to DH about this (and won't know for sure if it will work until Jet Blue comes out with their schedule for the end of the year) - but fun to think about! I think this is the place that @platamama loves, so hoping I can make it work!

I am trying to get some work done and I am going down the rabbit hole of "maybe" vacation ideas and looking at every possible southwest destination and now looking at packable jackets. Ughhhh Concentrate! I can resist. Who am I kidding, no I can't. lol Now back to looking at possible San Francisco, Disneyland, Puerto Rico and now Costa Rica destinations. All for the time that I really want to go to Europe, but I can't speculatively book those so that is no fun.

ETA Now I am wondering why it is Puerto RicO and Costa RicA??

SW flight change is not as fun when they actually change your flight. 😭 they cancelled the late direct flight from HOU-MCO, so we may have to fly into TPA instead. I'm more worried about not being able to get the Visitor's Toll Pass than the actual drive. With 6 trips this year, maybe it's time to get our own tollpass? 🤔

Sorry this happened to you. I got a change notification this morning, too, but I'm actually really happy about this one. I just booked a flight home from MCO this past Monday for the Rival Run race weekend at WDW in April. I was looking for a late-day flight and opted for a 7:15pm flight since it was significantly less expensive than the 5:40pm flight, but wasn't thrilled that it arrived after midnight and having to go to work the next (same?) day. Well, SW put me on the 5:40pm flight of their own volition, so win for me.

Yay for vacation planning! Little Spanish lesson - nouns are either feminine or masculine (ending in "o" for masculine and "a" for feminine). No idea as to the reason why a word would be masculine or feminine, just that they inherently are one or the other. Adjectives match to the noun they describe. So, port translates to "puerto" (masculine) and coast translates to "costa" (feminine). Rica/rico (ending matches the noun that is being described) means either rich or delicious, depending on useage, so Puerto Rico means a rich port and Costa Rica means a rich coast, endings are just matching the word they modify.

And either place sounds much nicer than where I am right now!!!

Our gas is currently $2.40-50/gallon.

The smithsoniam stuff is great and some of them do free toursb had a.great one at air.& space. Make a capitol tour rez before you go to help avoid lines. Library of congress is also good and does great free.tours. the monuments at night are cool. Metro is easy though walking can be similar to wdw.

Zaxbys is so much better than chick fil a. I wish they and Logan's roadhouse woukd com out here, I miss them.

Wow! Just checked SW for kicks, and the 5:40pm flight that SW moved me to is now selling WGA for $491!! I did NOT pay nearly that much (and also used some travel funds plus the $75 Priority credit).

I was able to add my signature and edit my profile pic - I was not a fan of that pink circle.

Well, DH and I used 2 CIC to pay for our new HVAC unit. We earned 0% interest for 12 months, 144K URs, & $1,400 Costco cash AND we have heat!

Now to move on to the next MSR.
I had an estimate to replace 2 air conditioning units through Costco today. Apparently there is a 10% Costco cash card offer for the lower priced one, 15% for higher price, plus 2% cash back for my executive membership. Trying to decide the best way to pay, did that 144K UR include a SUB?

We're planning to move in a couple of years so that adds to my calculation, don't necessarily want to get the highest price model.

CSR travel credit question.

Chase website says my travel credit will reset "after" my statement closing date in 01/2020:
465537

My statement closing date is Jan 17, 2020:

If I make a purchase on Jan 17, 2020 will I be reimbursed for that purchase? What about a purchase on Jan 16, 2020 at like 11:59PM (pressing my luck, but there's a Hotwire deal that expires on the 16th :))?

Same here...it’s on my personal cards as well

I don't but one of my co-workers bought one when we were in Disney Springs and wears it a lot. I don't know how it fits, unfortunately. He tried it on in store.

I’d love to hear what hotels your looking at! I really would love to take the family o Costa Rica but every time I look I can’t figure out where to stay with points.

Our cruise this year ends in Miami, FL on 3/21. We’d be off the cruise by 9 likely. Our flight leaves at 3pm from MIA. As a family of 6 (kids 12-6), would you just head to the airport and hang out or is there a way to get a Hilton for the day using points (aka, would there be a way to check in on the 20th through an app maybe?) then we’d just show up at 9:30, get free breakfast, swim, shower and Uber to MIA and fly home?
