oh hmmm, good point. We’re only gold status so im pretty sure late checkout isn’t an option there and 100k points wouldn’t be worth two days for a couple hours.
We do both have Priority Pass but it’s only for you and one guest right? So we’d have to pay the full price for two kids? I thought I read it was $30 or $40/person? Still may be the cheapest option...
Just an aside, I went into the Turkish airlines lounge yesterday with a pp pass. The breakfast was ok and I enjoyed it. There's also a centurion lounge by the D gates, but it was too far for us.

I need to load up on Starbucks app loads before the end of February for my annual "DIS Divas" trip and I happily discovered that I have the Chase offer on three different cards! That's a nice little convenience since I will most definitely be spending the money soon anyway.
I did that for Christmas gifts. I had the offer on 3 cards and maxed the offers out on all 3. Plus my coworkers and kids' teachers got Starbucks!

Can I gripe about non-cc for a moment? I tried putting my hsa at a regional bank a couple years ago because they offered interest and no fees. It's been a pain. They fixed stuff when it went wrong but it went wrong a lot. I moved to fidelity this year for no fees and free trading on it. Happy so far but I still have to deal with the other bank for tax stuff. I get my 2019 1099-SA and 5498-SA today. Both are very wrong, led me to realize they screwed up my 5498-SA last year even more than I originally thought because they never sent me the corrected-corrected one in June! THE DARN 5498 ISN'T SUPPOSED TO GO OUT IN JAN! IT GOES OUT IN JUNE FOR. A. REASON. (those who don't know you can contribute to your hsa up until tax filing deadline like with an ira) Like- it's someone's freaking job don't they read the IRS instructions on how to fill out the tax forms?!! (It's such a small bank I literally talk to the person who does the forms when I need them fixed.)

I needed to vent before I get on the phone and rip that poor person's head off lol. I feel better now!!

Looking at the Punta Islita Guanacaste. I've got Marriott points/status, so it looks like a decent option for us. Not cheap, but prices are sky high for the week after Christmas, so the redemption value is ok. @platamama stayed there (at least once) and I think she was trying to plan another trip to go back. I haven't been there, but we stayed elsewhere in Costa Rica years ago and absolutely loved it. Beautiful country, really nice people. Pretty easy to get by in English (I speak bad Spanish, DH speaks NO spanish, and he was able to happily spend an afternoon looking around the small town near our resort). Gaah, I've gone from "huh, I wonder if we can do a trip in December" to "Oh my god, this trip had better work out" in a matter of hours :rotfl:
I have been looking at that resort for awhile! Now you have me thinking if we can spend thanksgiving there. Prices aren’t terrible for that week. My DS 16 is obsessed with monkeys so I think he would love it.

Oh waffle fries... ChikFilA waffle fries are the absolute best of the best when it comes to fries in my opinion. Nothing can compare. I'm so sorry you don't share my sentiments, lol.

lol, our Popeye's is always PACKED on Sunday's around noon. Church lets out and Popeye's crowd swells  I refuse to go since I haven't been able to try their famous chicken sandwich now for MONTHS. They are always out 😭😤

I can't believe our small town still hasn't figured out the chicken sandwich craze---never a line inside or at the drive through when I'm there. Boggles my mind...I figure in a couple of years when we catch up the rest of the country will have moved on. 😆

wise person answered the phone. Told me to email the person who does this... this is probably a better solution for all of us lol....

Back from my trip and still trying to get back to a normal routine.

Thanks for all the support on my last post-my cat is doing well and appears to have completely healed. Good news is the growth was not cancer. It was an inflammatory/allergic type growth and the vet said it was a good thing we removed it as it likely would not have resolved on it's own.

No news on the credit card front. I need to sit down and make a plan for this year. As well as catch up on reddit, but all is probably going to have to wait until late next week when I get some time off of work.

Question for Chase Hyatt card holders - how long after your anniversary does the free night show up?

Mine took about 10 weeks if I recall. It was a long time. Do you have the newer World of Hyatt Card or the older one with the smaller fee? The older one had been posting pretty quick but I have the newer one with the $95 fee.

Your post reminds me that I need to look into moving my HSA. It's currently at a bank that charges a fee for investing (it's the bank my employer picked as the default bank). So Fidelity would be a good choice to move it to? Any thoughts about Vanguard (I already have an account there)?

I use HealthEquity and I like them. Their investment options fit my FIRE strategy perfectly.

I really like Optum bank.

For those of you with the BBP, do you get offers on them? I am hoping I will, and I hope they are for businesses I've actually heard of! The ones I get on the Hilton Biz are terrible, as a rule.

I am considering trying for my very first bank bonus after I get my tax return. Can you answer some specific questions for me about the terms?

This is for Chase Total Business Checking, for those familiar with it.

Obviously deposit $2500 and maintain it for 60 days and don't let it dip below that.
"Complete 5 transactions:
  • Debit card purchases (I understand that)
  • Chase QuickDeposit (I looked this up briefly and I don't think that is something I'll be using)
  • ACH (Credits) and
  • Wires (Credits and Debits)
I am not sure exactly what an "ACH Credit" might be. Direct deposit from work might qualify, but I am not sure I trust my payroll department to make the change in a timely manner, nor am I confident in my ability to time it right so that 5 paychecks hit within 60 days. I know what ACH stands for but I really don't know what it means, in plain English.

"Wires" sounds like "Western Union" to me, and that doesn't seem right! (Does that even still exist?) So also, can someone tell me what "wires" mean in this sense and give me some plain English examples for this ignorant soul?

Thanks. Its the newer card - I was hoping it might post a bit quicker than that, but no problem - can always use points in the meantime.

Make sure to use the $500 offer!! I'm seeing $300 out there too, so don't get fooled into going for that one.

I would stay away from wires, those usually have an accompanying $30+ fee. They are not the same as Western Union, and are usually used for large amounts (5 figures or larger) that need to be received next day.

What time does your airport/airline open? I've gotten to the airport 2 hours early for a first flight out but the airline wasn't even open yet to check a bag. We stood in line at the counter for a half hour waiting for someone to show up and then boot up the computers. Just thought I'd put it out there if yours is like that. We used a shuttle service so kinda like MDE they get you there 2 hours before flight time no matter what. We had plenty of company though, and I think nearly all of us were going to Disney! The crazy things we do for the mouse :)
The SW counter opens at 4:00 am. We haven’t really talked about it yet what time we plan to go. This may be our earliest flight although we have had a 6:30 or 7:00 am one before. Only 2 direct flights a day - either the 6 am or an evening flight. There isn’t any shuttle service. I think I mentioned before ....we live in the boonies. I really meant it. My town has a population of 2,000.
There is a closer airport about 30 minutes away, they don’t fly to MCO and they don’t even have flights every day to Sanford. So we rather drive 2 hours and fly from an airport that has multiple flights Incase of a delay or cancellation and have the MDE and not need to rent a car.
You are right, we do crazy things for the mouse!

Yes, and some are really good and some are really meh. My Bonblah cards and my Hilton cards don't get offers I use. I'd say my BBP, Rose Gold, Amex Plat personal are the ones that get the best offers.
