I’d be scared how Disney IT could handle restricting rides, but I don’t necessarily disagree with the concept.

I was very against them limiting same day re-rides in the short time it was actually possible. Because they have done that and are not allowing people to jump back into back up groups (the equivalent of getting back in an open line) should they be available once you get off the ride, that to me is unprecedented rationing of attractions, and I wouldn’t be all that bothered if they took that concept further and applied it over X number of days if they felt it would help something.

It probably isn’t a need at this point as most people who show up at opening ride, but if that changes (due to reliability or crowds) then I’m on team restrict.

I don't think they should restrict multiple days in a row riders, but I think a priority when dishing out BG should be given to those that have never ridden. If you have ridden it already and I haven't and we click to get a boarding group at the same time I should get a lower number than you. Or maybe set aside groups 1-50 for first timers and 51-x for repeats. This way repeats still get a chance to ride but those that haven't ridden yet get a "better" chance. There are a million ways they can adjust the dishing out of groups. And who knows if there is some logic in there, we don't know. Disney could have also just gone with the easiest to just dish them out in order requested since that is by far the easiest as opposed to having to crunch the data to determine your priority in getting a group.

I can’t imagine that would happen. As much as I appreciate the fact that you would want to give first timers a chance, it’s also not fair to punish people that have been on it and want to ride on it again.

Yes..the group next to us both had app issues and only got a late backup group
An important angle to remember is the 100s of people around them who did not have issues. Yes it can happen but look at the ratio of success to failure* before gauging your chances.

*not even 'failure', they're likely to ride with a back-up BG that was joined within the first 10 minutes of park open.

But what happens if you're with a group that has never ridden? They should be punished because they're with someone who has? Anything that restricts people from riding a certain amount or a certain time just isn't possible, there's too many other variables
And everyone who is in HS has paid in some form to be there that day.

You obtain a ticket, you get a pick of what to do in the park that day. Everything can't be done... but any one specific thing can't be left out after a guest has paid admission. WDW would need to reword the legal rambling, lol. Not something they will ever approach.

We are in line now and have been “delayed” for about 30 minutes now. We were BG40 and got in line as soon as they called our number. They just came though the line offering bags of chips or a banana for a snack while waiting and now are giving out bottles of water. Rey as well as another character came through the line to talk and take pictures.

I wanted to give your post both happy and sad face :) Hope you get on soon!

I don't view it as "punishing" someone, just giving some more of an advantage than others. No system is perfect, but they could have done better I feel.

I'd be curious how many BG's are going to repeat riders vs first time riders. This probably isn't a poplular opinion on a place like disboards since we are pretty hard core and like to game the system as much as possible (within the rules) and ride as many rides as we can, but I'm really starting to think they should limit this ride to once/per week. They have already proven they can limit once/day. If you get a BG, maybe you can't get another one for 5 days. If for some reason you are unable to get on the ride (or maybe if the ride is not fully functioning, they can remove the 5 day block for you so you can still try again the next day. I know annual passes are not cheap (I've had one a couple times) but it feels just a little off that if the BG's are full and you live close by you just try again, while for the vast majority of people, if this doesn't work out or they are 10 minutes late to the park, they don't get another try until a year or two later (if at all). This wouldn't need to be a permanent thing but at least until things calm down. Only having 60 seconds to book a ride seems more than a little crazy.
this is a terrible idea

I agree with you on that! I just wrote this on another thread, that I LOVE everything Star Wars, but I am not getting up at 5 AM to get on a ride. Just not happening. I’ll either wait till they change it, or just live through everyone else’s experiences!!!

:wave2:

Probably need to reign in the BG opinions and commentary to some extent and keep this thread more on facts/experiences/strategy.

Plenty of other threads can be created to go down various BG process opinion rabbit holes (of which I’ll go down with you!), but nothing good will come out of it on this particular thread.

Thank you.

Is it okay to share this for speculation talk? I know I don’t always remember to check the actual SWGE forum for new threads.

Fortunately, starting next Tuesday you'll only need to get up at 6 AM! (If things stay as they are.)

I am really interested to see how this plays out. Right now, they have opening time for our HS days listed at 9 am. I am pretty certain this will change, probably to 8am. I am a little worried that the later opening is going to increase crowds.

I am jealous of you guys that have to get up at 5 to do this. I'll have to be on the road by 3 AM to make it in time!

Those of you there today...... are you being given an actual return time with your Boarding Group number?
And are they giving one or two hours to return?
Just saw a post stating that as of today they were giving out actual return times when they are getting notified and that it is only one hour ... just wondering if this is true and how it is working?
