Question...has anyone been lucky enough to get an early boarding group, ride and then be successful at getting a backup boarding group to ride a second time? Just curious to know if it’s possible.

Also, my phone did auto update to the app. Other than taking a few extra seconds to load I haven’t had problems practicing from home on WiFi. Will be trying on Verizon LTE tomorrow morning. I have iPhone XS Max.

When the ride first opened, it WAS possible, but Disney shut that down. Obviously, the demand for RotR is still quite high, but I personally feel that if backups are still available you should be allowed to grab one. Hopefully whener it gets to the point that backups still remain at least 3 hours into the day consistently, then hopefully Disney relaxes this and opens up backups for everyone, including 5hose who have already ridden. But for now, only one BG per day per person allowed.

Is anyone else having issues with the App today? Went to practice and load times double over a few days ago, so I fired up an older iPhone and it never even completes the app loading process today.

yes. I have been having issues with the app opening for a while now. MDE takes almost one full minute to open on my phone. Then once it opens, it freezes for about 15 seconds before letting me do anything. With this, there is no way I would wait until 7:59:55 to launch MDE. We would never get a BG that way.

Got in SDD and then went for my group 4. Ride was down. Came back about half an hour later spent about 20 minutes when we got kicked out and got the anytime fast pass.
Does anyone know if with the fast pass you actually fast pass the line upon return or if you just get into the regular line.

Perfect approach this morning with multiple phones, opening the app at intervals - 10 seconds prior, 5 seconds prior, 8:00 on the dot. Unfortunately, we did Smuggler’s Run first and ROTR was down once we came over. Second time back and it was still down. So hopefully they’ll keep shifting our 1-hour return window!

Anyone had experience getting an early boarding group and having GET move it to later? Going in 3 weeks and all our other plans at HS are later in the day, we’re gonna go for rope drop to get the BGs but would really not want one super early so our day isn’t so spread out

Yes had it the whole time of my visit. Entire hours went by with being able to see my FP reservations and such. Take screen shots of them for backups.

Right, this is what I would think would happen. People running into each other, the dinosaur, the pond, trash cans, tripping on curbs...pandemonium with smart phones and people walking into poles while trying to get a BG.

Ok, so walk through park, get on app 1 minute before opening, wait in holding area before the rest of the areas of HS open up. But then at that point, shouldn't people then bolt over to Smuggler's Run? There still shouldn't be a wait since technically you are in the group of the first people there. No?

I would RD SDD if you are staying all day. MFSR was pretty much empty at 2 hours before close. 30 minute waits which is nothing considering the que is entertaining.

Thanks guys. I think my mistake is opening the app too early. I need to wait until 5-10 seconds before to open. I will try again in the morning.

actually I would NOT do this. The app is very glitchy and opening it can take up to 2 minutes in Park as the crowds overwhelm it. I had the app open 10 minutes before the top of the hour, and just hit “Find out more” at that time.
It never turned red, the point is that’s the spot where the app searches for the BG. (Actually its just after they on “Join A BG”)
I got group 2 with this.

I do feel it’s very important to turn off auto screen lock, and keep the app open . Also found out that the Battery save option on IPhone messes with MDE.

Not allowed. Once you use your group your locked out. I went by near closing and they were still letting FP come back for when the ride was down.

So , if your "join a boarding group" button never turned red, how did you join a group? it isn't clickable for me unless red.

It was red , But I wouldn’t see that change until after 8:00 because I started on the screen before it.

The point is you should NOT be waiting for it to TURN red cause your app may not be refreshing in the background. (This is an option in IPhones). This is what is tripping a lot of people up. The app searches to see if a BG list is available between Find out and Join a Group.
Trust me , just wait on the screen before the Join a Group and wait till 8:00:01. Hit find out more, and Join a group will already be red.

It should be red anyway. Assuming the app is working, but that’s not always the case.

Had a great morning. Got BG24 thanks to all of your help. Unfortunately it seems that ROTR is having a bad day. Been stuck on 18 / 20 for over an hour. Anyone know what’s going on besides “down”.

I concur with this advice. While some have had success with the button turning red on it’s own, I did not have that experience. Tapping “Find Out More” at exactly opening time worked, and I expect that to work for everyone since there is a load screen after tapping. Waiting for a red button is more iffy in my opinion. It might work, but why chance it? Again practice is your friend. Find out what works for you and your phone.

my caution is of you tap find out more Before BG open, you won’t have the red button and flipping back and forth doesn’t always refresh. At least it did not for me. I did a full hard exit of the app before tapping in at the gate. Then a few minutes before BG open, I opened the app and then did nothing until BG time. (No peeking!)

Lack of bus on our second try notwithstanding, I feel comfortable with this approach.

I did that this morning. I had the app open and waited until after 8:00am to open, and the button was not available. I tried both clicking "My Status", which had worked on prior attempts at home before the app update, in addition to refreshing. I tried this for a full 20 seconds before just shutting down the app and restarting.

I'm just glad I wasn't in the park this morning and have some more time to figure out what will work on my phone since the app update (and hopefully the glitches will be fixed by then).

I think that was my mistake too. From my limited experience, better to be a second after 8 than 10 seconds before. Because then you have to do multiple toggles. Can't wait to try my new idea in March.
ETA I mean clicking find out more. I "peeked" as someone called it and then got caught in a toggling loop. At home I just open a second or so after 8 and its always red.

Honestly that’s just bad luck. The app looks for the BG list at that point , so you may have been early or got a glitch.

MDE has been a nightmare this week.
